How the Wii U Shaped the Switch

- Trying to get to the bottom of this whole Wii U vs Switch debacle and making my argument as to why I should be put into a strait jacket.
Also, this isn't really meant to be a highlight of what the Wii U did well, by the way. Really, I'm trying to show why the Wii U was important, and to fill in context that is lost on so many.

Having a total failure console and a 100m+ sale successful console is better than having two middle of the road 50-90m sale consoles
The switch is basically a Wii UDS
The Wii U walked so the Switch can run. Nuff said.
YOU GET IT
Eh more like the Wii U tripped on a crack in the sidewalk and face planted so the Switch behind it knew to step over it
@@garf752I guess that works too
You are UNDERRATED, you need way more subscribers.
Despite 3ds/wii u selling less that their predecessors, I perfer the 3ds/wiiu over their predecessors
This video needs more views! Really well put together, you got a sub!
🫡 Thank you so much!
Hey man! This is a really great video, with this level of production you really should have more subscribers. Keep up the work!
Hey man your stuff is really good too! Hopefully we both skyrocket heh? thanks!
As a man who has been to Japan, gone to Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan, as well the Nintendo Store in Shibuya, this video is a testament to how amazing Nintendo is as a company. I guess people who have been to both of these locations in Nippon will greatly understand this. Very good video.
Firstly, the Wii U looks like a Switch. And also, many Wii U games are now on the switch, right?
Many, but not all. Stuff like Yoshi's Woolly World and Nintendo Land are signature Nintendo games. I stand by Woolly World being the best Yoshi game, even.
And some games like Wonderful 101, and Captain Toad just kinda work better on Wii U.
also yes. the wii u does indeed look like a switch. most fascinating.
Great video!
randomly got recommended this, very good and quality video. subscreibed and hit 5 star. i wish great algorithm fortune for you
🥹 I appreciate it kev 🫡
Very informative, very nice, thank you sir!
The best selling game on switch and the best selling game Nintendo has ever had is a Wii U game. Mario Kart 8 deluxe at launch was almost exactly the same as the Wii U version except with a good battle mode. The DLC didn’t come until years later and by then it was already massively successful
mario kart 8

I would recommend buying Nintendo stock, before the crazies do. I don't have a lot, about $2k, I know that's a lot for some people but single shares of NTDOY are about $12-14 right now. If many fans owned crumbs of the company, that's way less crumbs that say, the saudis or other big investment firms or MS can buy.
sir, I have 5 pennies to my name
although when I become a multi billionaire from the stonecoldmiracle empire it does seem smart to get Nintendo stock. I could be like that one lunatic who bought Nintendo stock just to ask about F-Zero at an investors meeting
@@StoneColdMiracle Best of luck! Again, if you put away 10$ a week you'd be able to buy about $40 of stock in a month. Rome wasn't built in a day...

I enjoyed the video but your censor sound is... very annoying.. I'm sorry :(
actually, thanks for letting me know, I've been a little wary that it might be disruptively annoying but wasn't really sure! I'll probably start experimenting with different sounds in the next few videos
I don't think I wanted a Switch more than a Wii U. I wanted to play 3D World and Mario Kart 8 immediately, but couldn't afford it back then. Now there's the Switch right there with both those games ready to play, at least they're portable now.
Childhood DESIRE for a game console is honestly different. you lose a little bit of that excitement in adulthood when things become more attainable, but yeah, it is so nice to have the Switch now.
I'm glad things turned out the way they did, and being able to sit down and finally play Wii U games I obssed over was perfect.
The reason the Wii U failed has nothing to do with the actual system itself. The system was fine and all of the games were good. The problem was mainly the marketing and it didn’t have any system selling games. The switch had breath of the wild and Mario Odyssey very early on during its life and those are system selling games. The Wii U had a lot of great games, but I wouldn’t say a lot of them were system sellers. I feel like things could’ve turned out a lot differently if the Wii U had Mario maker and breath of the wild at launch
It's tough to say, but honestly, I think it had more to do with the PS3/4's existence than anything. When we were upgrading, I really wanted a Wii U, but where were games like Arkham Knight? Assassin's Creed Unity? Not on Wii U, and that made it an easy choice, so I imagine a lot of people felt the same way. especially when it was a joint choice
Wii U had a crazy high attach-rate, so I do believe system sellers weren't an issue. no third party support killed it way more than anything else. That maybe did more damage than marketing, but that's just my opinion.
The system itself was flawed. The pad had no real reason to exist and very few games used it well. I mean most just used it as an inventory or map. The console was far weaker than the competitors because Nintendo thought that being HD was enough which scared away the hardcore gamers The gimmick of the Wii U was poorly conveyed to the casual market hence the reason many thought it was just an add on for the Wii. The Wii U was a failure that taught Nintendo how to handle the future of the company.
First of all the virtual boy is the worst nintendo console, not the wii u. 0:38
The virtual boy had fewer games in it's library, ONLY 22 games to be exact. Compared to a whopping 1,382 games on
the wii u. Second, even attempting to play the thing was crap as it was uncomfortable. third, the ugly red tint graphics made your eyes
hurt in a short amount of time. Nintendo stopped making the virtual boy because it was shit and nobody wanted to buy a pair of ''Portable'' goggles.
True!
