      Hi there, your car has high voltage battery which can be very dangerous, I highly recommend to have the car checked with a licensed automotive electrician.

    Hello, I am wondering if you could provide any insight into my hybrid problem..
    I have the 2013 model, and am getting the error messages:
    "Check Charging System" and "Hybrid System Warning"
    every time I start the car... The car starts up and the gas engine also kicks on and runs.
    But there is a constant beep and it seems like my trunk battery (12V) isn't charging when the car is running.
    I ordered a HSG and am going to replace it. But I am wondering if this HSG is even the problem?
    What are the signs of a faulty HSG? Would it show the messages I am having?
    Since my car still starts just cant drive it
    (trans shifts weird and doesn't seem normal, don't want to risk driving it, but it will let me put it in drive and go.)
    Would my issue possibly be caused by a faulty HPCU? Or is it more likely the HSG like I had thought..
    Any insight is appreciated!!!! WIll update this comment when I get the new HSG in!!

      Hi there, seems to be more serious problem. I highly recommend to get the car scanned with a scan tool as it could be from HPCU or Battery control module as well.

    My belt just broke (the big 7 rib serpentine belt) and when they were replacing the belts they said the alternator (HSG starter generator?) is seizing up due to a worn internal bearing causing strain & the belts to wear down very quickly.
    Apparently I need to get the HSG replaced and it’s hard to find, unless you get a remanufactured one, I got lucky at O’Reilly that they had 1 manufactured unit in stock ($440 + $40 core deposit, Bring back the old one to get $40 refund). They don’t carry new ones, and Autozone doesn’t carry HSG’s at all

    Hi!! Recently the pump of the HSG on my car failed and I have the service light (yellow wrench) came on with the flashing ready light, and my car started having a problem like its kind of confusing to wether use EV mode or gas. Especially when its coming to a stop from driving. And sometimes it wont accelerate using the EV mode from a stop til gas engine takes over (but this takes like 3 seconds after hitting the accelerator). This also occurred when weather is hot and the car has been running for a while technically hot as well. I have replaced the pump and the service light went out but the issue or problem is still there. Do you think its the HSG? the HSG or its senson might been burned since the pump failed? Can someone help me with my problem?

    • @RealWjay
      @RealWjay Před 2 lety +1

      There was no light in the dash by the way.

    • @AutomotiveDiagnosis
      @AutomotiveDiagnosis  Před 2 lety

      Hi there, From the symptoms you explained, it could be HSG. Anytime you are driving on EV, and you want to accelerate, HSG should start the engine automatically to assist the electric motor, so the reason that you are saying that it experiences a confusion between engine and EV could be HSG. Anyway, it should be checked thoughtfully and by the scan tool. Also as it is connected to the high voltage, all steps to shut off the high voltage battery should be performed in advance. Also check this video for procedure to shut off the high voltage battery

      @@AutomotiveDiagnosis great! Thank you so much for replying! Thats what i suspect too, since it its pump was failing before. It might got damaged when i kept driving the car while the pump is bad. Technically its not cooling down the HSG. I doubt that scanning with scan tool will do a thing because there is no light on the dash. Besides, I took my car to the dealership, told them what I'm experiencing/ issue with the car and they only told me the pump is bad and need to be replaced. I didnt also know how does HSG works until now that you told me, so, thank you so much for that information. Ive been searching on that and could not find it. Maybe im not really looking around that hard 😅 but thank you!

    • @RealWjay
      @RealWjay Před 2 lety

      Hey, so to make it more clear now, when the engine is cold everything is perfectly working. As soon as the engine gets hot, thats the start of having the issue. Especially when the weather get hot. When the engine is hot, basically from driving it, and slowing down or coming from a complete stop, when i try to accelerate, the electric motor does not respond and it waits til the engine takes over in order for you to be able to drive or move the car (about 3 seconds delay from a complete stop). So when the engine gets rest a bit, then its all goes back to normal (well not quite, electric motor responds but not too long til it switches to gas motor). Basically its all about when it gets hot (weather and the engine). Do you think its something like a sensor? Base from what you said that the HSG is responsible for signaling the engine to give assist to the electric motor but not the other way around?

    • @RealWjay
      @RealWjay Před 2 lety

      Hey, so now i have replaced the HSG. But I still have the same problem. Its seems like the pump is defective maybe? Or here's how ive replaced the hsg, i didnt really did all the stuff you did. Didn't completely drained the coolant. Didnt take the small drive belt out. And just disconnected the hsg sensor and hsg connector.

      @@almostcools Mine comes on about every two weeks. After about two-three starts it turns back off. My car runs fine though. I replaced the transmission before this so it may be a bad connection in some wire. Have not tracked that down yet. Bought a blue tooth code reader ($22) and downloaded a free app to my iPhone. I can read the code while I'm driving.

    • @almostcools
      @almostcools Před 10 měsíci +1

      @johnhenderson6407 Interesting. I also have replaced the transmission. I don't think they're related But who knows. I also purchased a scanner to read codes while driving. I do have a more advanced scanner (tool d8) I'll plug that in today and see if I can find any other codes. I have been smelling radiator fluid lately but I don't know if that's connected. I did do a radiator flush not too long ago and assume that it was from radiator fluid that I spilled. But it could be something else. Let's stay in touch , I think we have the same issue with the P1A86 code.
