Let me congratulations for your video, man your video it's the only video with details and great explanation. I'm really appreciate it, I'm an auto Technician without practice because I work on a different field. Thank you very much and Blessings for your life brother.
After seven months of contemplating, my belt started making a weird noise and so I rewatched this video several times and went on to change the belt. Everything went smoothly. I used a coat hanger to create two long hex keys to use in the holes you pointed out. What a life saver that was. I can’t thank you enough for the tutorial. Aside from the fact that the dealer wanted $195 which I could have paid, I wanted to do it myself that way in case of emergency, I won’t be left stranded. I changed my belt and it cost me $30!😊
Great repair video! You saved us hours of trying to figure this out. My son and I took this on together and the replacement went extremely smooth. Having two peeps definitely makes the job easier.
Thanks for putting this video together. I could not for the life of me get the hex/allen keys into the holes and finished without. This belt job was a royal PITA due to the tight space and frame rail being right in front of the tensioners. For anyone doing this in the future, having 2 people worked best, get a long 15mm (or combo 2 wrenches for leverage) and hit that tensioner from below, have a helper hit the 17mm from above and slip the belt over the crank pulley last while holding the tension from below, you really have to lever the tensioners all the way to get every millimeter of slack. That is what worked for me. Good luck and don't forget to curse a lot.
Good video thanks for wrench sizes which helped. I came here because my hybrid system was flashing and got a P1a77 code and my alternator/generator belt was broken so replaced both belts and cleared codes.
Nice job. Linking the wrenches is a neat trick and will come in handy. For me though, I would spend $40 for a proper belt tensioner tool. In situations like this, I've found that I still come out ahead and then own a tool that I'll use again and again.
You’re amazing for putting the belt model number in the video I think it’s Canadian tire brand but it’s the only one I can find locally and be sure it’s gonna fit the hybrid model
For anyone doing this job. This engine has 2 tensioner on the same serpentine belt. It took me 3 hours to figure out about the front one since I was doing it at night.
You are absolutely awesome. Never had I watched a video with so much detail and explaining all the size wrenches to use. Thank you very much. What is the name of the secondary small belt? I want to replace both if I am going through the trouble. Car has 138k abd makes the squeal noise when it switches between electric and engine. I am not even positive its the belts. lol
Подскажите что делать если новый ремень скрипт хуже старого. Ролики я менял в прошлом году и они должны быть еще в хорошие состоянии. Как их проверить что они действительно хороши ?
I would take the belt off and spin them by hand. It is possible one of the components may have been faulty when purchased. It could be the new belt has just made the problem more noticeable. Thank you and hope this helps.
There are 2 separate belts , the water pump belt only attaches to the water pump and crank. The other attaches to the idlers and generator. Thanks for watching.
@@s33therfan I need to replace both the belts. I am going to buy both the belt HSG belt and serpentine following the link provided by you. will update if there is an issue. Thanks for the video and the reply
I was with you until you had to Jack the car up. I don’t have a Jack so i can’t do that. My car is at the shop now and they want $200 plus to fix it. I don’t have that so i told them don’t touch it and I’ll just take my chances and drive it back home. 😩🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

Probably the clearest, cleanest, most succinct car repair video I've ever watched. And I've relied on 100s of videos for 20 years of repairs.

This caused my engine to say hybrid system warning ⚠️ pull over … something to that aeffect
did you replace the belt did the issue go away. Hyundai wanted 400$ to do this

Hope this helps , thank you for the feedback.
Bro you made that look so easy. Made it easy for me. Question, why does my water pump belt keep coming off. It’s new. Thx.
Not sure , bad tensioner maybe . Another possibility could be they sold you the wrong belt. Wish I could be more help.
Do you know if the steps will be same for the 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid EX?
Yes , it should be the same.
@@s33therfan did you replace the tensioner or pulley?
Thank you 🙏

Is that the crankshaft with the Water pump?? Do they go with the same belt??

Great video but i dont see why you had to disconnect the battery

This video just pisses me off. Been at this for like 6 hours and can’t get the pin in the 15mm tensioner.
I wish I had the luck of the belt just slipping into place. Not over here. Smfhhh.
