I feel like a cool downside to Wanda would've been a more aggressive Charlie since they have beef, she could get attacked quicker in the dark and get buffed nightmares sent after her like what's in the ruins, would be cool
Make it so periodically a "nightmare" will come to attack her. Usually in 1's or twice. Along with shadow hands having a chance to spawn even when she's above sanity level
@@bearoyay I think that would just annoy the crap out of people. Especially since character dialogue is meant to give you hints about what you're supposed to do, which is why Wes being mute is suppose to make him more challenging to play. So making the dialogue deliberately obtuse wouldn't really work (especially since all the characters are pretty much monologuing to themselves anyway).
My favorite thing to come out of Wanda is actually potential future reworks. Given that now the primary stat meters are on the table for being completely changed into a unique machanic, there is so much potential. The ones that immediately come to mind for me is the upcoming Wolfgang and WX rework, who could potentially have new meters instead of hunger. This makes more sense for wx, as giving him a new resource like fuel would be really cool. Imagine needing to fuel your character like a campfire. Wolfgang could have a unique hunger gimmick that directly affects how is hunger drains, like instead of just increased hunger drain, having it drain more while fighting. Maxwell is also a great candidate for this, namely a sanity change that could give him something like a man bar or shadow collection. As a result, shadow creatures attack him if he overuses his abilities, but normal sanity means almost nothing to him. Giving him some heavy weaknesses that require his new magic abilities to counter would make a character who ignores conventional sanity and instead uses his abilities to survive better as a shadow master, but doing so brings the shadows to him. The last would be potentially more health reworks and the only character I think this could fit would be Wormwood. My only thoughts would be a growth meter that slowly ticks up like Wanda's age, but having it be kinda reversed. He doesn't grow naturally and needs fertilizer to grow and bloom and he dies when his growth meter hits zero. The difference from normal health is that as he grows, he blooms, gaining both benefits and disadvantages. So a fully bloomed wormwood can help grow plants and attract bees and such, but he would be slower, weaker, increased hunger drain, and other potential problems. While a Wormwood at low growth stages would be faster and have a low hunger drain. So for Wormwood it would be alternating between fully grown for remedial purposes and shrinking back down for combat and general purpose to avoid the downsides when in combat. Basically a character with disadvantages and advantages for being both at high and low health, requiring alternating for maximum value.
I really like your comment but I think what we need for now is Walter and wicker reworks they are the least ones to make sense as a character and also they should fix that blue line on the watches it bothers me make it gray or something duh
@@travisscott5078 I more meant what I wanted to see in the future as apposed to what the community needs. Since Wicker and Walter have the most dead perks that don’t create any nuance to a play style it makes sense they should be changed first.
@@travisscott5078 Walter does have a unique playstyle, it might be a bit monotone if you only use the slingshot but it works, you should check out jazzy's last video on him, if you play him correctly it can be a fun character. On the other hand wicker has been long forgotten since the books nerf, so a rework would be indeed fitting.
Not to be harsh, but characters were never really set to have an end for them being added, many people misinterpret the 2019 roadmap and think that Warly and Wormwood weren't new characters (when they were in fact considered to be so) and thus some people thought that after the 2 brand new characters released, there would be 2 more brand new ones and then no more. But nah, those 4 characters were from 2019, any further characters are not related. Walter was never really meant to be the final character, nor is Wanda, nor was Wurt. But yeah, Wanda's the final one for now, you could say.
Wanted to say that when I heard u say Walter was the last one in the respective Walter vid, but thought you'd realize after uploading it that it was never meant te be the last one (amongst more people of course, not only ya). But I'd better just say it now, tbh.
I have 300+ hours in dst but playing as her was still challenging against bosses. So, in my opinion, calling her "op" in a bad way is redundant bc her true power could be unleashed only by very experienced or good players. Also aren't the ones *especially bored* from casual killing(shadow monsters, spiders, hounds, etc) are experienced players? Aren't the ones *especially also bored* from travelling half of the day are the experienced players? She is not op but A LIFESAVER
her weapon generally completely trivialises combat in most non-boss cases, which is a little unfortunate imo if it ends up staying like that in the game, given that DS is meant to be an "uncompromising wilderness survival" game. Then again, nobody is forced to play wanda and she's locked behind 2700 spool, but that still doesn't change the fact that she's just a teeeeeeeeeeeeny bit overpowered
Wortox has the ability to Heal groups and teleport... but in turn gets half from all food sources and is limited use. It competes with your hunger as well to use these tools. Wanda has the ability to Heal herself and teleport infinitely and infinitely revive allies and nullifies her downside. She also has a weapon which doesn't break. She has literally some of everything and excels at everything.

@@undeniablybaked two purple gems to change to wanda and back + you have to have moon portal is a good cost, and if you have a lot of purple gems you already explored ruins
Is it me or did Wanda rob Maxwell of his potential rework? Dealing extra damage with shadow weapons sounds like the ability he should have. Not innate but as a temporary effect at the cost of maximal sanity and some rare item.
yeeah... i sorta wish they didn't put so many things in her kit. she feels very overpowered by virtue of having so many options in her kit alone, not even because of how effective they are. i wish they picked a theme of support or DPS and stuck to it, because right now she sorta feels like she's *really* raised the bar for maxwell.
@@beppermint4092 Maxwell can still compete with her if Klei brings back his 20 per minute sanity regain. That allowed him to completely negate the sanity drain of shadow armor which compensated his low HP. But shadow armor also got nerfed in DST for some reason. I hope Maxwell's rework will not be focused on making him an even better gatherer. They should remember his roots and create sanity- and magic-related abilities for him. I think it would be cool if he can craft something similar to Vortex Clock from Hamlet (refuelable shadow armor which is also a backpack). Wanda has a super-powerful refuelable weapon. Why not give Maxwell super-powerful refuelable armor? He also should have a spell that can reduce insanity drainage from weapons for other characters.
Wanda's addition truly makes me excited for Wolfgangs upcoming rework in December(I think) after the big qol. No offence to wolfgang mains but his playstyle is such garbage for your team members and as well as just being an extremely boring fighting character. I'm hoping he could one day be the fighting character that wont by the face of all toxic dst players.
I once said in a Public server “Wolfgang is boring”, that might’ve pissed off somebody, but that was only one person. I said the same thing to 9 other people, they agreed with me. Other than that, I have a feeling one of Wolfgang’s possible abilities would be carrying heavy objects, faster as mighty, unable to as wimpy. (A throwback to Reap What You Sow) It’s quite exciting to see what Klei will come up with.
I like wolfgang because he is indeed convinient plus he provides solo players a realistic chance to rush all bosses before starting mega basing. But I ask you, is it much diffenrent when playing with other players? I mean, when you have a party of 3 players, do you need to do anything else rather than "pressing F"? The party buffs are just to speed it up the process bc since the old days bosses just melt down even with 2 players party, the game is already too easy when playing together and just becomes a food manegment strat. I main wolfgang bc he wipes the floor with everything but I just play him solo, on partys it is just an overkill anything that buffs dmg honestly.
Wolfgang, and now wanda are useful to kill everything early game without needing the help of the party, so they can dp other stuff other than joining fights. I've done this plenty of times with friends who want tl rush something else other than the bosses.
I've been playing wanda a lot, and honestly I think she has had a ton of random perks thrown into her kit, and has very little downsides. So she gets the best weapon in the game, and it's not even close. After making it, it's cheaper than a dark sword to upkeep, doesnt drain sanity, has 2 range (allows cheesing of so many bosses), and about 30% more damage than said darksword. This alone should take up most of her combat budget, but she gets a huge damage multiplier with age too and no sanity penalty for night armor with age (which somewhat trivializes being at low hp since you can use the 95% damage reduction). Her backstep allows her to dodge any attack (skill is required, but you cant dismiss it), her backtrek allows instant teleport anywhere (and group tele for a purple gem) which might be even more op than her alarming clock, her second chance watch will revive without max hp penalty for whatever reason, and on top of it all they dont have durability so theres zero cost to spamming them after a pretty small initial craft cost. I feel that a ton of extra stuff could just be cut and she would still feel like a cool character. If she was never released with her alarming clock, her other watches and age mechanics would still feel powerful, if she instead didnt have granny damage multipliers she would still feel powerful
@@LEGnewTube somewhat annoying yes, but she does have an unlimited use healing item to deal with it and a pretty cheap revive if you do die. If you use the watch every 7 minutes (or once a day is easier to remember) you will keep on top of it. And she doesn't suffer a max hp penalty on death either
Yeah, it gets pretty annoying on a public server and there are like 3 wandas just reviving everyone when they die, they don't even look for touchstone or telltale, they just look for wandas xD
Wanda is probably one of better additions there that should get a reward for being unique and actually intriguing to play. In terms for reworks and making characters - she's probably a good example of what could be a good and engaging design to make them interesting. Good video, alFreddo. Plenty of info and entertaining. I honestly hate the Woodie rework, he gets some new forms but has to hold still for them to go, along with all his hunger.I get that you have to prep for a form but It's just boring to run slightly faster(not walking cane speed I believe), use a hambat and have marble armor(moose) and the same were-beaver except it sucks not because you can only really harvest or lose time, it was better with the wood meter imo. I'm hoping the refresh for Wolfgang is good but they really just add fluff for no actual reason, like wes for example being able to walk faster maybe get some sanity back or the changed tool durability(this actual helps because weapons and tools degrade slower so shovels and any single use tools are SUPER efficient). except at least he was an April fools joke. I liked being able to transform as Woodie and having it stop me from cutting trees, he just feels more gather'r than before less gameplay, Y'know? Also the moose charge is insulting. Lucy moderating Woodie about his tree cutting was the best part IMO always has been. Edit: Woodie also god the hands down worst short they have made. Personal opinion but come on.
Tbh I think she needs another downside, related to the shadows and Charlie being pissed at her. Maybe she can see mr skitts, shadow watchers, and be harassed by shadow hands and wavy at any time, as well as shadows targeting her over other survivors.
I do consider the best character in the game for solo, while I still belive that other might offer some better multiplayer benefits like wickerbottom (my main) the truth is that her abilities are useful both alone and teamed up. The only things I kinda dont like is how the clocks might take too much inventory space and the fact that backteck watches do not have any kind of indentiufication one form another so you could easily mess them up by accident and maybe a little bit of the damage it annoys me that she doesnt do the full 100 dmg in her middle aged form or the full 150 in her old form as many mobs have rounded health amounts so it would make easier to one shot some mobs like dogs, shadow creatures or even spiders. I think shes balanced as her benefits reuquire of skill and risk, as well as some expensive materials compared to other characters but really worth. Her teleportations skills are much better in my opinion, starting by the backstep I first I tought of it as trash but once I truly undestool its power, it makes things apparently undodgable dodgable and gives a whole new style of kiting into the game. It has a short cooldown and low price, so you an pretty much use it in the first season (at difference of the walking cane) and does not spend any resource, meaning that in kinda leaves absolete the soul hop kite, because you have a limit of 20 souls, and in some boss fight it may not be enough. Using it you can dodge the lvl 3 rook or shadow pieces, dragonfly, fuelweaver bone trap (wich usually needs an lazy explorer) and ranged attacks. And her long distance travel is MUCH better than wortox's. She can be at the end of the world, go back to base and come back to where she was wich wortox can't because he would need to farm souls before coming back, as well as she can travel to caves back and forth, ans have seval clocks at the time. Sure, they are expensive since you need tusks but totally worth it as the backstep can replace speed boosts in many situations and usually if you play with decent players and you can communnicate and use thulecite clubs as the cane replacement, as well as 1 single gem is pretty affordable cosidering that even 12 players could get in and that other options like the Lazy deserter require of tons of sanity and is very late game, or that the telelocator is hella expensive with 3 gems.
I have mixed feelings about Wanda. I really like her concept of a glasscannon/assassin-grandma type character who can kill enemys in a few hits and avoid attacks by teleporting. But the problem I have with her (and this is only based on what I read about her and the few videos I saw since I didn't play her yet so feel free to correct me on that) is her alarming clock that once you manage to aquire makes her whole perk of having a dmg multiplier on shadow weapons redundant since you have a weapon with higher basedmg, more range and lower upkeep cost than all the other options that also doesn't break. I would much prefer if the alarming clock had a lower base dmg than e.g. the dark sword (maybe hambat dmg), but her scaling went up so she essentially did the same dmg with a dark sword as she does now with the alarming clock making the alarming clock a "saver but less dps" option with maybe more uses or something like that and the dark sword the go to weapon if you wanna maximize dmg. That would make the perk not feel like its just something they threw in to make her seem more interresting on paper and still leave the alarming clock as a nice option. Overall I think that she's a great addition to dst but giving characters great mechanics just to give them an item that makes you forget that that mechanic exists makes them a lot less interresting to me.
Ya I feel like once Wanda players get used to the playstyle, Wanda's advantages will only get worse in the meta. Hopefully they tune it down, as much as I'm loving it right now.
Ive just started playing dst very recently, and after watching this video i instantly got wanda. Ive been playing her and shes a BLAST. Im not great at the game by any means even slightly, but shes incredibly fun. Great video.
Idk man she can teleport , deal biggest damage at medium range , can make teleporter stronger than usual and sure she is glass cannon but she has option not become one That does sound overpowered to me , I think she need more interesting drawback like the more she use her watch she draw more terror beak or something .
I do really enjoy Wanda, I have a few gripes with her, namely her quotes being a little too negative in nature but not that big of a deal. Though not being able to play as Wormwood does make me sad so I don't play her too frequently.

I love how Wanda's health management works, it basically means you freely heal over time. So if for example you take some damage while exploring, you will eventually heal it back completely even with just one ageless watch. So it's a nice over time heal. But it comes with the downside of taking an inventory slot and that it's not great as a burst heal, so it won't be great in boss fights. I think it's really cool.
Someone in this comment section mentioned that she's, actually, LOSING health all the time, and that's logical too... Time passes = she gets older (like IRL lol) = gets sanity & damage buffs on the account of being 1 hit before death, high risk high reward. Though, to mend this, she has her unlimited rewind 'heal', apparently...
@@sc3961 Yeah so that's true, she loses health (well age, but you get what I mean) over time, so you do have to rely on having at least one ageless watch on you. But if you're using one or more age watches every time their cooldown wears off you gain more health than you lose over time. Meaning that if she takes damage, she won't have to go out of her way to find healing items to heal it, and she'll get back to young age assuming she doesn't keep taking damage. Edit: wanted to change the wording a bit on some things
@@sc3961 No that is idiot's risk low reward. Imagine going into a fight smartly at full instead so you can take hits... then her boost only comes as a chance to get out of jail free if you have no escape no revival watches no solutions. She is low risk high reward.

I was describing a different situation though, so we're both right / we agree to disagree :) I imagine that really good DST players can make use of her being "low" (which is a RISKY situation), to constantly use and abuse her (at that point) best-in-the-game damage (high reward). You know, if you're an absolute GOD at dodging and not getting hit... Why not just have 140-dmg-per-hit situation for yourself the whole time... Anyhow, therefore, for the situation that I have described, she's high risk, high reward. Though, yeah, that's just my imagination, and I would personally play her exactly as you described haha ^^ But, also, Wolfgang does a little less DPS than her (as I've read somewhere), but has no such risky cons (like being at 20 hp). So technically, ASIDE of her additional (supporty) gimmicks, in that aspect alone, he still might be better in the longrun if you just want a tanky, brawnly melee DPS fighter? 🤷♂️
Clockmaker's tools allows you to disassemble any clock for 100% of the ingredients. Although that does mean it only costs 1 living log and 2 bone shards to get a revive through haunting it.

wanda is the best for the pros, if you can survive with wander which is basically a constantly depleating health bar. uou can survive with wes, but she is powerful when at low health
Although... Freddo can you PLEASE (I cannot find anything on this) explain Wanda's damage reduction works????? Like I was hit by a clockwork bishop with 80% protection and took THREE damage and not 6.
According to the wiki she takes 40% of the original damage (so 60% dr if you want to think of it that way.) No idea if it's applied before or after armour, presumably before.
@@justaluke6066 Its actually not a change from base survivors. She ages from 20-80, so 60 health points total, which is 40% of 150. She has all the same break points as every other survivor. If Deerclops whacks a normal survivor in no armor, it does 75 damage and kills in 2 hits. If deerclops whacks Wanda, it does 30 damage and kills in two hits.
I kinda felt like tox might be outclassed by the stepback but then i started playin as Wanda And honestly? choosin where u actually will gonna jump even tho has water or a abism between the points instead just back is a luxury she cant tell she has. She looses a lot about kitting pattern when she use the step back in yound and middle age. This clock in particular is like the arlarmin, shines when shes old, and at this point u r really in danger so the risk rewards. Plus: no cooldown when u r talkin about heal. And the clocks add another counter i havent seen no one talkin about: the struggle with inventory IS REAL. U already carries two ageless[at least] and probably one second chance so the step back will be the fourth slot lost to these shenanigans. R u guys ready to deal with it? Cuz i just craft and use the step back when im about to boss fights which im confortable fighint old [bq/df/ck] Tox still a char who takes the pratical way to deal with constant. Still my favorite.
I like to think wortox and Wanda are two of the best characters in don’t starve and the most fun to play as the unique upsides and downsides are done to a tea they aren’t Wilson clones which I love it just makes playing characters like Wolfgang and wx78 seen boring
@@placeholderdoe No one ever really said there was a last character (not officially). There's just people who still think that a 2019 post [including information regarding updates exclusive to that year] is valid in 2020-2022 for some reason. Each year has its own roadmap, 2019 is over, people.
After playing with almost every character I was really bored of the gameplay loop, I was only coming back to check on new content. Wanda made me start a new world and I'm having so much fun, teleporting to Pearl's or Lunar Island instead of making Boat bridges,Sailing or Telelocating is so satisfaying, and learning how to deal with mobs and bosses with her feels great and new. Also, finally a character that is not a Dumb/Monster/Kid, I can finally examine stuff and read something besides one word. (Sorry monster kid fans)

I think some people forget about Warly being able to do 204 damage with a dark sword
But like probably i have NEVER seen a warly cook an actual wolt goat jelly and they barely use their spices most of the time

Not to be harsh, but characters were never really set to have an end for them being added, many people misinterpret the 2019 roadmap and think that Warly and Wormwood weren't new characters (when they were in fact considered to be so) and thus some people thought that after the 2 brand new characters released, there would be 2 more brand new ones and then no more. But nah, those 4 characters were from 2019, any further characters are not related. Walter was never really meant to be the final character, nor is Wanda, nor was Wurt. But yeah, Wanda's the final one for now, you could say.
Wanted to say that when I heard u say Walter was the last one in the respective Walter vid, but thought you'd realize after uploading it that it was never meant te be the last one (amongst more people of course, not only ya). But I'd better just say it now, tbh.
Wanda is a reason i started playing DST again after 4 months break and instantly became my favorite
I have 300+ hours in dst but playing as her was still challenging against bosses. So, in my opinion, calling her "op" in a bad way is redundant bc her true power could be unleashed only by very experienced or good players.

her weapon generally completely trivialises combat in most non-boss cases, which is a little unfortunate imo if it ends up staying like that in the game, given that DS is meant to be an "uncompromising wilderness survival" game. Then again, nobody is forced to play wanda and she's locked behind 2700 spool, but that still doesn't change the fact that she's just a teeeeeeeeeeeeny bit overpowered

Wortox has the ability to Heal groups and teleport... but in turn gets half from all food sources and is limited use. It competes with your hunger as well to use these tools.
Wanda has the ability to Heal herself and teleport infinitely and infinitely revive allies and nullifies her downside. She also has a weapon which doesn't break. She has literally some of everything and excels at everything.

Is it me or did Wanda rob Maxwell of his potential rework? Dealing extra damage with shadow weapons sounds like the ability he should have. Not innate but as a temporary effect at the cost of maximal sanity and some rare item.
yeeah... i sorta wish they didn't put so many things in her kit. she feels very overpowered by virtue of having so many options in her kit alone, not even because of how effective they are. i wish they picked a theme of support or DPS and stuck to it, because right now she sorta feels like she's *really* raised the bar for maxwell.
@@beppermint4092 Maxwell can still compete with her if Klei brings back his 20 per minute sanity regain. That allowed him to completely negate the sanity drain of shadow armor which compensated his low HP. But shadow armor also got nerfed in DST for some reason.
I hope Maxwell's rework will not be focused on making him an even better gatherer. They should remember his roots and create sanity- and magic-related abilities for him. I think it would be cool if he can craft something similar to Vortex Clock from Hamlet (refuelable shadow armor which is also a backpack). Wanda has a super-powerful refuelable weapon. Why not give Maxwell super-powerful refuelable armor? He also should have a spell that can reduce insanity drainage from weapons for other characters.

Wanda's addition truly makes me excited for Wolfgangs upcoming rework in December(I think) after the big qol. No offence to wolfgang mains but his playstyle is such garbage for your team members and as well as just being an extremely boring fighting character. I'm hoping he could one day be the fighting character that wont by the face of all toxic dst players.
I once said in a Public server “Wolfgang is boring”, that might’ve pissed off somebody, but that was only one person. I said the same thing to 9 other people, they agreed with me.
Other than that, I have a feeling one of Wolfgang’s possible abilities would be carrying heavy objects, faster as mighty, unable to as wimpy. (A throwback to Reap What You Sow) It’s quite exciting to see what Klei will come up with.

'Hold F to win' is fun but only because being strong and being able to kill stuff easily is fun, not really because Wolfgang himself is.
I like wolfgang because he is indeed convinient plus he provides solo players a realistic chance to rush all bosses before starting mega basing. But I ask you, is it much diffenrent when playing with other players? I mean, when you have a party of 3 players, do you need to do anything else rather than "pressing F"? The party buffs are just to speed it up the process bc since the old days bosses just melt down even with 2 players party, the game is already too easy when playing together and just becomes a food manegment strat. I main wolfgang bc he wipes the floor with everything but I just play him solo, on partys it is just an overkill anything that buffs dmg honestly.
Wolfgang, and now wanda are useful to kill everything early game without needing the help of the party, so they can dp other stuff other than joining fights. I've done this plenty of times with friends who want tl rush something else other than the bosses.

I've been playing wanda a lot, and honestly I think she has had a ton of random perks thrown into her kit, and has very little downsides. So she gets the best weapon in the game, and it's not even close. After making it, it's cheaper than a dark sword to upkeep, doesnt drain sanity, has 2 range (allows cheesing of so many bosses), and about 30% more damage than said darksword. This alone should take up most of her combat budget, but she gets a huge damage multiplier with age too and no sanity penalty for night armor with age (which somewhat trivializes being at low hp since you can use the 95% damage reduction). Her backstep allows her to dodge any attack (skill is required, but you cant dismiss it), her backtrek allows instant teleport anywhere (and group tele for a purple gem) which might be even more op than her alarming clock, her second chance watch will revive without max hp penalty for whatever reason, and on top of it all they dont have durability so theres zero cost to spamming them after a pretty small initial craft cost. I feel that a ton of extra stuff could just be cut and she would still feel like a cool character. If she was never released with her alarming clock, her other watches and age mechanics would still feel powerful, if she instead didnt have granny damage multipliers she would still feel powerful
I think Constantly loosing “health” is a pretty big downside.
@@LEGnewTube somewhat annoying yes, but she does have an unlimited use healing item to deal with it and a pretty cheap revive if you do die. If you use the watch every 7 minutes (or once a day is easier to remember) you will keep on top of it. And she doesn't suffer a max hp penalty on death either
Yeah, it gets pretty annoying on a public server and there are like 3 wandas just reviving everyone when they die, they don't even look for touchstone or telltale, they just look for wandas xD

Wanda is probably one of better additions there that should get a reward for being unique and actually intriguing to play. In terms for reworks and making characters - she's probably a good example of what could be a good and engaging design to make them interesting.

I honestly hate the Woodie rework, he gets some new forms but has to hold still for them to go, along with all his hunger.I get that you have to prep for a form but It's just boring to run slightly faster(not walking cane speed I believe), use a hambat and have marble armor(moose) and the same were-beaver except it sucks not because you can only really harvest or lose time, it was better with the wood meter imo. I'm hoping the refresh for Wolfgang is good but they really just add fluff for no actual reason, like wes for example being able to walk faster maybe get some sanity back or the changed tool durability(this actual helps because weapons and tools degrade slower so shovels and any single use tools are SUPER efficient). except at least he was an April fools joke. I liked being able to transform as Woodie and having it stop me from cutting trees, he just feels more gather'r than before less gameplay, Y'know? Also the moose charge is insulting. Lucy moderating Woodie about his tree cutting was the best part IMO always has been.
Edit: Woodie also god the hands down worst short they have made. Personal opinion but come on.
He is actually 40% faster than character without speed boost in his goose form and walking cane is only 25% boost

Tbh I think she needs another downside, related to the shadows and Charlie being pissed at her. Maybe she can see mr skitts, shadow watchers, and be harassed by shadow hands and wavy at any time, as well as shadows targeting her over other survivors.

I do consider the best character in the game for solo, while I still belive that other might offer some better multiplayer benefits like wickerbottom (my main) the truth is that her abilities are useful both alone and teamed up. The only things I kinda dont like is how the clocks might take too much inventory space and the fact that backteck watches do not have any kind of indentiufication one form another so you could easily mess them up by accident and maybe a little bit of the damage it annoys me that she doesnt do the full 100 dmg in her middle aged form or the full 150 in her old form as many mobs have rounded health amounts so it would make easier to one shot some mobs like dogs, shadow creatures or even spiders.
I think shes balanced as her benefits reuquire of skill and risk, as well as some expensive materials compared to other characters but really worth. Her teleportations skills are much better in my opinion, starting by the backstep I first I tought of it as trash but once I truly undestool its power, it makes things apparently undodgable dodgable and gives a whole new style of kiting into the game. It has a short cooldown and low price, so you an pretty much use it in the first season (at difference of the walking cane) and does not spend any resource, meaning that in kinda leaves absolete the soul hop kite, because you have a limit of 20 souls, and in some boss fight it may not be enough. Using it you can dodge the lvl 3 rook or shadow pieces, dragonfly, fuelweaver bone trap (wich usually needs an lazy explorer) and ranged attacks.
And her long distance travel is MUCH better than wortox's. She can be at the end of the world, go back to base and come back to where she was wich wortox can't because he would need to farm souls before coming back, as well as she can travel to caves back and forth, ans have seval clocks at the time. Sure, they are expensive since you need tusks but totally worth it as the backstep can replace speed boosts in many situations and usually if you play with decent players and you can communnicate and use thulecite clubs as the cane replacement, as well as 1 single gem is pretty affordable cosidering that even 12 players could get in and that other options like the Lazy deserter require of tons of sanity and is very late game, or that the telelocator is hella expensive with 3 gems.

I have mixed feelings about Wanda. I really like her concept of a glasscannon/assassin-grandma type character who can kill enemys in a few hits and avoid attacks by teleporting. But the problem I have with her (and this is only based on what I read about her and the few videos I saw since I didn't play her yet so feel free to correct me on that) is her alarming clock that once you manage to aquire makes her whole perk of having a dmg multiplier on shadow weapons redundant since you have a weapon with higher basedmg, more range and lower upkeep cost than all the other options that also doesn't break. I would much prefer if the alarming clock had a lower base dmg than e.g. the dark sword (maybe hambat dmg), but her scaling went up so she essentially did the same dmg with a dark sword as she does now with the alarming clock making the alarming clock a "saver but less dps" option with maybe more uses or something like that and the dark sword the go to weapon if you wanna maximize dmg. That would make the perk not feel like its just something they threw in to make her seem more interresting on paper and still leave the alarming clock as a nice option. Overall I think that she's a great addition to dst but giving characters great mechanics just to give them an item that makes you forget that that mechanic exists makes them a lot less interresting to me.

Ive just started playing dst very recently, and after watching this video i instantly got wanda. Ive been playing her and shes a BLAST. Im not great at the game by any means even slightly, but shes incredibly fun. Great video.

I do really enjoy Wanda, I have a few gripes with her, namely her quotes being a little too negative in nature but not that big of a deal. Though not being able to play as Wormwood does make me sad so I don't play her too frequently.

I love how Wanda's health management works, it basically means you freely heal over time. So if for example you take some damage while exploring, you will eventually heal it back completely even with just one ageless watch. So it's a nice over time heal. But it comes with the downside of taking an inventory slot and that it's not great as a burst heal, so it won't be great in boss fights. I think it's really cool.
Someone in this comment section mentioned that she's, actually, LOSING health all the time, and that's logical too...
Time passes = she gets older (like IRL lol) = gets sanity & damage buffs on the account of being 1 hit before death, high risk high reward.
Though, to mend this, she has her unlimited rewind 'heal', apparently...
@@sc3961 Yeah so that's true, she loses health (well age, but you get what I mean) over time, so you do have to rely on having at least one ageless watch on you. But if you're using one or more age watches every time their cooldown wears off you gain more health than you lose over time. Meaning that if she takes damage, she won't have to go out of her way to find healing items to heal it, and she'll get back to young age assuming she doesn't keep taking damage.

I imagine that really good DST players can make use of her being "low" (which is a RISKY situation), to constantly use and abuse her (at that point) best-in-the-game damage (high reward). You know, if you're an absolute GOD at dodging and not getting hit... Why not just have 140-dmg-per-hit situation for yourself the whole time... Anyhow, therefore, for the situation that I have described, she's high risk, high reward.
Though, yeah, that's just my imagination, and I would personally play her exactly as you described haha ^^
But, also, Wolfgang does a little less DPS than her (as I've read somewhere), but has no such risky cons (like being at 20 hp). So technically, ASIDE of her additional (supporty) gimmicks, in that aspect alone, he still might be better in the longrun if you just want a tanky, brawnly melee DPS fighter? 🤷♂️

Second chance watch only costs 1 time piece. While other resources get cut in half, the time piece just drops normally
Clockmaker's tools allows you to disassemble any clock for 100% of the ingredients. Although that does mean it only costs 1 living log and 2 bone shards to get a revive through haunting it.

According to the wiki she takes 40% of the original damage (so 60% dr if you want to think of it that way.) No idea if it's applied before or after armour, presumably before.

@@justaluke6066 Its actually not a change from base survivors. She ages from 20-80, so 60 health points total, which is 40% of 150. She has all the same break points as every other survivor. If Deerclops whacks a normal survivor in no armor, it does 75 damage and kills in 2 hits. If deerclops whacks Wanda, it does 30 damage and kills in two hits.

And honestly? choosin where u actually will gonna jump even tho has water or a abism between the points instead just back is a luxury she cant tell she has. She looses a lot about kitting pattern when she use the step back in yound and middle age. This clock in particular is like the arlarmin, shines when shes old, and at this point u r really in danger so the risk rewards.
Plus: no cooldown when u r talkin about heal.
And the clocks add another counter i havent seen no one talkin about: the struggle with inventory IS REAL. U already carries two ageless[at least] and probably one second chance so the step back will be the fourth slot lost to these shenanigans. R u guys ready to deal with it? Cuz i just craft and use the step back when im about to boss fights which im confortable fighint old [bq/df/ck]

After playing with almost every character I was really bored of the gameplay loop, I was only coming back to check on new content. Wanda made me start a new world and I'm having so much fun, teleporting to Pearl's or Lunar Island instead of making Boat bridges,Sailing or Telelocating is so satisfaying, and learning how to deal with mobs and bosses with her feels great and new.
Also, finally a character that is not a Dumb/Monster/Kid, I can finally examine stuff and read something besides one word.
