    Your giving me more confidence to tackle a project like this myself. Thank you very much.

    Oh man I was wondering how I would able to change my bunks and carpet .. this helps a lot with the wood and jack .. you the man

      It worked out much better than I expected! All in all a pretty smooth install.

    I think I'd feel better putting a coat of epoxy on the wood instead of thompson's. I know those bunks won't live in the water, but that carpet will hold moisture to it for quite a long time. Just a thought, you'll have to let us know how this turns out. Thanks for the vids and cool ideas.

      I wanted something a little more penetrating than epoxy since as you said the carpet will stay wet for longer. However an even better coating would be epoxy over the water seal!

    Good Job Bro, I was trying to figure out a way to do this without having to put the boat in water on weekday evenings, since due to my work schedule, I can only get to the lake on weekends.

      I was at the lake this past weekend and there were folks recarpeting bunks in the parking lot, I think this way worked really well!

    Question for you.. for flat bottom boat, do I need side bunks or would it be possible just to have the bottom bunks. Looking for a trailer or might fix mine up.

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  Před rokem +1

      No boat /needs/ side bunks but they really help for trailering. You can always add them later if you wanted, they sell bolt on options.

    Honestly, carpeting is one of my least favorite things to do but it was definitely worth it in the end. The previous bunks were literally crumbling!

      How would you differ carpet to the EVA foam? I've got carpet, but interested in putting down foam boarding instead..just wondering your thoughts 🤔

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  Před rokem

      @@MelloThatDude Foam for the trailer bunks? Or for the boat deck? I've not seen foam used for a trailer before, not sure how well the boat would slide on it.

    • @MelloThatDude
      @MelloThatDude Před rokem

      @@mvboutdoors no no. The foam in the boat. As you did in one of your videos. You put foam down. Then you put your plywood down.

      @@MelloThatDude Ohh okay, yeah I've always liked carpet but the ease of applying foam has me interested in it. I have it on my kayak and it's comfortable but stains ridiculously easy. Carpet will hold up better over time imo but I'm not sure what I'm going to use on my new build.

      @@mvboutdoors ahh ok. Well I was wondering about it's hold up, so carpet sounds like a better idea at the moment..thanks for letting me pick your brain. Like I said I'm just starting out with my first jon b. So trying to figure out which way I wanna take it. Keep the videos coming man! 👍🏼
