    Why didn't you just replace the wood beams? They appear to be cracked? Also you are attaching the brackets back on the same screw holes which are not as secure as newly predrilled holes in new wood beams.
    If your going to redo the bunk carpet replace the wood beams folks.

      Make sure you're treated wood is dried out thoroughly before covering with carpet. Also prime number one Lumber cost more but last much longer

    Don’t waste your time taking those staples out and spend $10 and buy a new piece of treated lumber.
    Treated with a solid paint stain by flood
