I literally AVOIDED watching this. Dealing with my finances is an area that I struggle with. The Holy Spirit has been dealing with me. I can’t run from the money mistakes and unfortunate circumstances that have me in this financially unhealthy place. I appreciate y’all talking about this. More financial literacy please. ❤

I can relate to everything you just said. I feel like I’m in the season where the Lord is saying it’s time to get my finances in order and be a better steward over what He continues to bless me with to be in the position to receive the blessings of having my own home and create generational wealth for my children 🙏🏾😊

I love how Preston reminds Christians about the will of the father. To many Christians see GOD as a slot machine that they can put prayers into to win a prize. At the end of the day if it’s GODS plan for you to be wealthy you will be wealthy.
In my culture people hoard investment information and see sharing as a liability to their success than a blessing. As a single parent having the right people around me who would encourage investment is what I yearn.
I heard it said somewhere like "money doesn't change you, it exposes your heart". Another thing to note is that poor people can still be all the things that we blame rich people to be. You can be poor and be just as greedy and selfish. You can be poor and love money. Money is a tool ultimately how we use it is what matters! Thank you for talking about this much needed topic for us as believers!

Agreed, bad credit can cause you to pay more for almost everything. Living within your means is the best advice I could give anyone.

My father is a Pentecostal Evangelist to his core and spent much of his life preaching at crusades, revivals, tents etc.we were having a conversation about this very thing.Most Pastors don't have mega churches and live VERY differently to the loud minority. He said "they just told us to go ye and make disciples . We were young and on fire for the Lord. Now I have fifteen years before I retire and I worry what I will leave behind for my own children " . It was heartbreaking to hear
We can definitely do both! It’s hard but with the Lord we can.
I’d encourage him in letting him know it’s not to late to start a small fund today (I’d strongly recommend a safe and profitable index fund or at the very least a high yield savings account), even if it’s only $100,000 that’s still a lot more than nothing.

Let me encourage you that yes investing for his children would have been awesome but one cannot outgive GOD, HE is faithful and will provide someway somehow in Jesus's name 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Would love to hear a part 2, or even another podcast topic entirely about wealth! We have the means to do what you’re saying, but I really struggle with the idea of buying a second home when others don’t have one. Even if I’m renting it out to tenants, it feels “wrong” to have so much excess and I haven’t been able to get past that. Is my money better serving the Body and the world elsewhere? It’s obviously a wisdom issue, but would love to hear more about how you process spending.

I want to buy my first home. Is it better to buy my first home and rent it out while I still pay rent elsewhere or is it better to live in my first home and buy a rental property later?
It's best to start out with buying a property to live in that has an extra room or area, like a finished basement that can be rented out while you live in the other part of the property. This is called house hacking.
Then you buy another home or building that has 2 or more units. You live in one unit and rent out the other units. House hacking will pay off your home faster because your renters are paying the mortgage. Get counsel from professionals like a realtor who knows the best locations and live beneath your means. Buy what you can afford just do it every year, if possible. After awhile you'll have more financial freedom and options. 😊
The first step is to Pray. Then pray Ecclesiastes 11:2-3; 6-7 because these scriptures give you a precise answer on how to begin. I’m writing a book on the exact topic. 🇬🇧🇺🇸. This the way of the Kingdom. What makes me so passionate about doing it the Kingdom’s way?

Buying up housing to rent back to people so you can keep the wealth and leave them with nothing, what a blessing! warms my heart. I get we live in capitalism, and we all have to participate to survive, but let's not act like we're doing God's work.

By taking out equity, isn't it just taking a loan to pay off another loan? It's not your actual money until you paid off the house. 😅
No, it's taking out a loan but from the value of the property.

I think I’m overthinking this, but the part where she said she would refinance the house, wouldn’t that mean that’s another mortgage she has to pay off? I’m asking hey I’m trying to learn and I tend to overthink things a lot, so I’m sorry.
No no I thought the same thing. Home equity is taking out a loan and then rolling it over to another property. So basically instead of paying off the property to have financial freedom, you bondage yourself deeper into dept😅 that's at least what I understood from this situation😅
No, the mortgage becomes a new mortgage actually. Where yes, you may owe more money on the home but you would only take what you need for the purpose you need it for. For example, I just refinanced my house and took out money for repairs. I now have a lower interest rate and pay only $100 more per month to fix my property. So, it's debt but it's not bad debt because if you do it wisely you are not doing this alot only for important occasions.
She is talking about her rental property that she has renters who pays the mortgage so, it's a well kept property to provide for her financial freedom.

This was a great talk, but the anticapitalist in me can't help side eye the idea of being a landlord and commodifying one of the basic human necessities. I like that she brought up it's a blessing to provide housing for people, but what about the argument that housing still would've been provided if she let someone buy the house? I think you also have to talk about being an ethical landlord.

I had believed that I needed a credit score to get a mortgage, until I was able to get one w/o one through manual underwriting. Truly you don't need a credit score to buy a home.

I was kinda hoping that they would touch on the increasing hardship of homeownership for people with less means than them. :( a major reason that whole families are renting homes are because investors are purchasing left and right. Hoped they would at least touch on this to add nuance to the conversation, especially from a Christian perspective. I’ll also add that Preston saying mockingly, “‘I’m going to be a martyr’ is cool but…” was so off putting. You guys literally have your platform because of your relationship with Jesus Christ. The anonymous martyrs of this world - living and then dying in turkey, Syria (how ironic that this podcast episode dropped on Monday, the day we were all waking up to news of an earthquake that gave no mercy to the rich or the poor in turkey), China, Iran, etc. are the real heroes of our faith. Someone desiring to literally give their life for Jesus Christ should not be mocked in any way, no excuses. One additional thing - I’ll add this scripture: 1 Timothy 6:9 “Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires…”

it was very off putting bc the the early church was completely filled with martyrs especially 303-313AD where Rome literally put in the ultimate means to try and wipe out churches who possessed the holy manuscripts . i hope he just misspoke bc like you said , there are so many unanimous people being killed for preaching the gospel in foreign countries . a young woman very recently was stoned in public bc someone asked her how she got good grades and she said “Jesus” , i think we forgot the will of the Father is not to give us easy lives but to sustain and sanctify His saints (Matthew 6 literally talks about not being so anxious on how provide like the pagans do but to trust in Christ so that they can focus more on being a light to the world and preaching the gospel and training their children in a fear of the Lord . it was very off putting and made me grieve at what he said bc i have so much respect for them . don’t get me wrong tho the Lord does call us to labor and to work and to provide so i do respect the conversation they had in regards to working , but like Proverbs 30 says , it’s wiser to live a life sustained by the Father and given the grace to labor for the family .
