  • How to video of wiring a Garmin Montana 700i charging cable to my 2021 KTM 350 EXC-F.
    I used a power harness that uses quick disconnects that matches my bike. The power harness connects to my headlight. This allows me to get enough power to charge my Garmin satellite communicator without draining my battery when the bike is off.
    I used a switch power harness from www.MotoMinded.com

    Just what I needed. Wanting to wire my Garmin to my KTM 500 exc-f. The Motominded is exactly what needed. Looking to them for a dash like the one you have for the key as well.
    Thanks for a great video.

    Thank you for the tip on the Motominded cable. I just ordered one for my 2021 KTM350EXC-F. Soon I'll buy a Garmin Montana 700i (I like the InReach option). Same bike and same GPS... great minds think alike!

      Glad to have helped. I love my Montana and use it on every ride. Haven't used the SOS feature, but love the ability to text updates with location anywhere I go. Especially since I go off grid a lot.

      It’s in the description, but adding it here as well to make it easier www.motominded.com/collections/ktm-2020-exc-250-350-450-500/products/switched-accessory-plug-in-harness

    Awesome video Bryan. Could you describe your mounting hardware at :36? I'm trying to figure out what i need for my Honda XR 450L. Thank you.

      The mounting hardware at 0:36 is a u bolt with a bracket that came with my Garmin charging handle bar mount

    I plan to cut the wires shorter and add lugs/connectors so I can remove everything to mount on another bike.

      I cut mine down it recognises power but doesn't charge

    I hate that Garmin supplies a mount with so much cabling, including an external voltage converter.
    Instead of one size fit most if you can deal with the wires, make a different set up with shorter and simpler wiring for motorcycles.

    • @bryan-norden
      @bryan-norden  Před rokem

      Yeah I agree. Maybe they think that most people with motorcycles and other power sports like to customize things so they left it like that.

  • @pzulutango
    @pzulutango Před 2 lety

    Is it possible to use two of these? like one for USB, and one for Garmin? I will be getting a light that is much lower power draw than stock so power draw I dont think is an issue

    • @bryan-norden
      @bryan-norden  Před 2 lety

      Yeah in theory. I don’t see why not. Just might be a slower charge at the worst.
