In honor of Marty's arrival in 2015 our town changed its name for a week and had a marathon of the movies in the theater. They had a huge banner in the town center that read "Welcome to Hill Valley" and they had a replica of the car in front of the theater at arrival time.
This is balls on a filmmaker, this is perfectly cheesy, perfectly acted, perfectly edited. Everything about this scene is flawless, every film student needs to study why this scene works.

Then the right-hand man of the leader is sent back to make doubly certain that said leader would survive to lead humanity, by protecting the leader's mother before the leader's conception, and results in the right-hand man also becoming the leader's father. Reprogrammed machine lands in the past and immediately seeks out a set of clothing, before embarking on its (his?) mission, ending in the machine aiding the young leader and his girlfriend in reaching a nuclear bunker which has an old-fashioned radio, and once the bombs stop dropping, the tattered remains of the human military across the world call out for help, leading into the birth of the resistance against the machines. This leads to the war against the machines, and the capture and reprogramming of the machine that had helped the leader and his girlfriend to get to the bunker, in its younger form, sparking the beginning of an infinite loop of capturing the machine and sending it back, and the machine aiding the future leader and his girlfriend in attempting to prevent the rise of the AI and the machines, which always ultimately fails in the primary timeline. I saw the first BttF probably 25 years ago, and I legitimately didn't know there were sequels until 5-10 years after that. I only actually got around to watching them over the holidays. I actually liked 3 more than 2, but the thing I found really cool about the progression is that basically everything from 1-3 takes place in a continuous time-frame. The end of 1 is exactly where 2 starts, and the end of 2 is exactly where 3 starts. Not mind blowing, but definitely cool.

interesting to note that the first movie has a perfectly closed time travel loop, Marty didn't mean or want to go back in time it was an accident. caused by the doc so he always goes back even with his life being better and in a world where his dad wasn't pathetic since his birth probably still hooked them up recreating the story of them getting together. Truly brilliant story.
I think the inspiration for Johnny be Good and the black guy becoming mayor was always going to happen, but it just introduced the concept earlier in the time line. It would be me like dropping off my Iphone in the 1970s. It was developed eventually I have just allowed some engineer to reverse engineer it and release the Iphone far earlier than it was suppose to.

The Johnny be Good and Mayor is a closed timeloop (interstellar, time crimes, 12 monkeys etc), but the main method of time travel is the magic version, where things can change and the timeline gets magically 'updated'. They put too many methods of time travels into these movies and didn't know what they were doing and couldn't stick to one method. It's a plothole plain and simple.

No, the timeline works. The Chuck Barry in the new timeline was inspired Marty who was inspired by Chuck Barry from the old timeline who was inspired by elvis or something. The version Marty plays is completely awful so when that awful music becomes the start of rock and roll instead of the good music in the original timeline, rock and roll isn't popular. Meanwhile, due to marty, skateboarding is way more popular. So when Steve Jobs rolls around, he puts his genious into skateboarding instead of into music players. Which is why they got hoverboards, but we got iPhones.
Of all the things Back to the Future II got wrong about the future (now present), the one I am most thankful for is the fact that we're not being served by stuttering tv sets when we go into cafes :D
The timeline continuity could still hold up if you consider the theory that when you alter the past, you create a whole new different alternate timeline separate from the original one that follows the changes you made in that past, and therefore you “return” back to that new alternate timeline when youre done.
Honest Trailers, the point of the three movies having a bunch of similar scenes was to show how no matter how much time passes, some things remain the same.
this may be because i've been watching this movie since i was a little kid and thus never understood a lot of the jokes, but i never thought they were insinuating that marty wrote johnny b. goode. i just thought the joke was that chuck berry's cousin was like "hey check out this music" when it was his own music? And, like, he still would have written would it not have been for marty. like, that's the only explanation that fits with the canon...
It implied he was the inspiration, not the writer of the song. Chuck wrote the song in either scenario, the Marty scenario just means he heard the "sound he was looking for" prior to finding it on his own. LOL

Don't know if anybody pointed this out yet, but the implication in this video is that, in each of the three films they had Marty stopping in his tracks after being called chicken. That did not happen in the first movie.
Good point, although Marty doesn't have anyone calling him a coward in the first film technically he's still bothered by it due to the events of the other 2 films since Doc needed Marty's help to fix the Future History which only occurred because Marty ran into the Rolls-Royce. Marty avoiding it at the end of the third film therefore makes both of the sequels paradoxes.

interesting to note that the first movie has a perfectly closed time travel loop, Marty didn't mean or want to go back in time it was an accident. caused by the doc so he always goes back even with his life being better and in a world where his dad wasn't pathetic since his birth probably still hooked them up recreating the story of them getting together. Truly brilliant story.

I think the inspiration for Johnny be Good and the black guy becoming mayor was always going to happen, but it just introduced the concept earlier in the time line.

The Johnny be Good and Mayor is a closed timeloop (interstellar, time crimes, 12 monkeys etc), but the main method of time travel is the magic version, where things can change and the timeline gets magically 'updated'. They put too many methods of time travels into these movies and didn't know what they were doing and couldn't stick to one method. It's a plothole plain and simple.
It's called The Unchangable Timeline effect.
Any kind of variation to a timeline will not affect the final outcome of certain events.

No, the timeline works. The Chuck Barry in the new timeline was inspired Marty who was inspired by Chuck Barry from the old timeline who was inspired by elvis or something. The version Marty plays is completely awful so when that awful music becomes the start of rock and roll instead of the good music in the original timeline, rock and roll isn't popular. Meanwhile, due to marty, skateboarding is way more popular. So when Steve Jobs rolls around, he puts his genious into skateboarding instead of into music players. Which is why they got hoverboards, but we got iPhones.

Of all the things Back to the Future II got wrong about the future (now present), the one I am most thankful for is the fact that we're not being served by stuttering tv sets when we go into cafes :D
The timeline continuity could still hold up if you consider the theory that when you alter the past, you create a whole new different alternate timeline separate from the original one that follows the changes you made in that past, and therefore you “return” back to that new alternate timeline when youre done.
Honest Trailers, the point of the three movies having a bunch of similar scenes was to show how no matter how much time passes, some things remain the same.
Prepare for a trilogy of era-defining films that made everyone who wasn't black want to go back in time.

this may be because i've been watching this movie since i was a little kid and thus never understood a lot of the jokes, but i never thought they were insinuating that marty wrote johnny b. goode. i just thought the joke was that chuck berry's cousin was like "hey check out this music" when it was his own music? And, like, he still would have written would it not have been for marty. like, that's the only explanation that fits with the canon...
It implied he was the inspiration, not the writer of the song. Chuck wrote the song in either scenario, the Marty scenario just means he heard the "sound he was looking for" prior to finding it on his own. LOL

Don't know if anybody pointed this out yet, but the implication in this video is that, in each of the three films they had Marty stopping in his tracks after being called chicken. That did not happen in the first movie.
Good point, although Marty doesn't have anyone calling him a coward in the first film technically he's still bothered by it due to the events of the other 2 films since Doc needed Marty's help to fix the Future History which only occurred because Marty ran into the Rolls-Royce.
Marty avoiding it at the end of the third film therefore makes both of the sequels paradoxes.

You can gloss over Chuck Berry quite easily. Basically, he was always going to eventually come up with the song anyway but, in Marty's altered timeline, he helps the idea come along a bit quicker
