In fairness, this is about the best they could do with a hunk of stale bread, some wilted lettuce, and that jar of pickles you don't even remember buying.

The Last Jedi is the best movie in the new trilogy.
Which is an extremely low bar to clear, but at least the story in TLJ was somewhat coherent and was made by people who didn't think a movie gets to assign homework to the audience.
So the Rise of Skywalker is basically the story of how a young woman stole Luke's identity.
Correction: the entire series has been reduced to the Palpatines destroying and then impersonating the Skywalkers.
Rey didn't nobody's identity.

The Rise of Skywalker is the only time we see all supposed three main leads on screen sharing a conversation, I can’t even remember a time before this movie where Poe and Rey talked to each other.

TROS really disappointed me, but that cameo makes it worth it so much. I have spend every day since TFA was announced hoping to see John in one of the movies
I'd even disagree with this. Can you remember any theme from the sequel trilogy beyond Rey's theme? I can't...and I'm not even sure what Williams does to develop Rey's theme. I may need to watch the films more (I'd rather not), but I am struggling. They aren't bad scores by any means (John Williams' worst score is still better than near any other composer!), but they aren't particularly interesting either. The scores for the PT and, especially, the OT are far more interesting.

The reason the music is not memorable is because the new trilogy lacks epic moments that forge the music into the story. That is not Williams fault.

Kathleen Kennedy knows, she just doesn't have the ability to communicate it.
They spent more time telling people Rey's character isn't defined by anyone else instead of defining Rey's character.

I like that Finn didn't get any sort of ex-stormtrooper arc in 3 blockbuster films, but Mayfield only needed like 5 minutes of a Mandalorian episode to complete an entire arc
I watched Return of the Jedi with my daughter and I always get choked up when Luke sees the three ghosts at the end... THAT is the end of the Skywalker Saga for me.
That's why in the beginning of this honest trailer they say "the conclusion to force awakens", not the star wars saga. Cuz it is Definitely not that

It is. This trilogy is no more connected than all the of expanded universe stories of yore. It's Star Wars but written by totally different people with totally different ideas and even less (far less) consistency with the core stories or rules of the universe.

What made the endgame final scene better was that we knew every character that arrived at the end and what it meant for them to show up and they had staggered entrances. In this movie they just all came at once without anyone knowing who they were.

Really, the thing that hurts these movies the most is that there was no plan at all. Why would you let an iconic trilogy with a massive fanbase be passed between different directors with different plans for the series like the child of a divorced couple?
Imagine if in Empire, Darth Vader said that he was Luke's father, just for him to say "oh, I was lying" in Return of the Jedi. If the Emperor wasn't introduced in Empire and was just shoehorned into the opening text crawl in RotJ, like "oh yeah, you thought Vader was the big bad? Nope, this is his boss. Don't question it..."

Yeah, it's pretty horrifying if you think about. The Skywalker line is ended. Everything Luke and Anakin did was for nothing and the Palpatines have won. Rey has taken Luke's X-Wing, his lightsaber, his home and even his freaking NAME. JJ Abrams is a nihilist who just wants to "leave his mark" on a franchise, like a dog pissing on a tree.

Ep. 9 tried to fix the mess 8 was but it was too late and now they hired George to make retcons so let's see how that turns out.
