I think each of the prequel movies has its own major flaw. For Episode 1, it's the failed attempts at humor. For 2, it really drags in the middle. For 3, it's that there's no emotional attachment in the first half of the film. Oddly enough, years later, TLJ managed to combine all of these flaws into a single film. But I digress.
When I saw it with my friends, one of them commented that he believed that episode 1 was lighthearted to set a tone, one to contrast with the darker parts of the story to be told in episode 2 and 3. Personally, though, based on Howard the Duck and such, I think it is more a Lucas issue, with nobody on the team being able to say, "Nope, this sucks, George. It needs to change."

Yup, most epic light saber fight ever put to screen by LucasFilm in any movie. Ewan McGregor did a great job matching up to Ray Park. This won’t ever be replicated again unless they get a very, very athletic actor again.

I love how first impressions works. When this movie came out ive just started watching si-fi movies. And it was my first SW movie. And i always loved it above others.
The same with Final fantasy series. My first was 9. I played it 14 times and i still love it. Never understood the fascination with the 7th game.

Yuuup, definitely the evil evil patriarchy that is flushing SW down a drain. Meanwhile Qui-Gon Jinn is turning in his grave like a spinning top, because every woman in SW getting stabbed by a Lightsaber in the midsection survives, like Sabine, the, in their own words, "worst candiate to be a Jedi the Robot dude has ever known", yet he, the Jedi Master died.
Gotta cram that virtue signal in there somehow.
