Seriously, everyone hates on whiny Anakin, but nobody gives a shit that Luke was whiny and bland in Episode IV

@@TheAustronaut03 Not a huge know it all about star wars but I think the forth form of lightsaber combat was designed to use the force specifically to supplement the fighting of those who have physical deficiencies.
Damn, I wished these would come out before the movies. Could have saved a lot of time and money.
@Gaius Wyrden I watched the movie again after 10-15 years or so, That battle was the most pathetic duel ive ever seen in the history of battles lmao. I was going to watch it thinking it was a good action movie but it was really klunky, stiff actors and bad cgi. (but of course for a 1977 movie thats normal. I still give it like a 8/10)

Han Shot First.....
is actually inaccurate. "First" implies it was part of a series of shots. There was no second shot. So the accurate statement would be "Han Shot" or "Only Han Shot." or "Greedo never fired."
But, yeah, waiting until someone fires at you at point blank range before firing a shot to defend yourself is suicidally stupid.

Yeah, that scene didn't age well.
I mean but Count Dooku was in his 80s when he dueled Anakin and Obi Wan in Episodes II and III. So yeah it was mostly due to lack of experience making lighsaber fights and lack of CGI.

@Teapot Inc Huh I guess I always assumed they FULLY drew over them when adding the lightsaber effect and underneath that they were wooden practice swords. But I guess if that were the case they'd be removing the wooden noise in post.

To be honest... FOR ME Hyden's acting wasn't bad. Like you point that out his behavior was like his son. It had to be. Another thing. He was a jedi almost from the begening of his life and jedi's life isn't like normal life, they don't show emotions, they don't know how to act in normal society and relationship, so his weird sentences and not normal emotions are... on the right place. DEBATE WITH ME!!

Honestly, I'd pay for a Blu Ray remaster of the ORIGINAL Original trilogy. As in, without all the edits. Just a 1080p version of the original films.

Speedwagon, look out for Harmy's Despecialized Edition online. It's as close as you'll get.
I would also buy the blu-ray if they released it completely un-altered with no added scenes,no greedo shooting first,and no episode 4 a new hope added to the title of star wars.
About the Greedo shot first, in the current edition, the shoot at about the same time, but Han's a better shot. And quite whining about the title change. It's Episode IV: A New Hope. Do you want them to have to rename everything *again?* But, yeah, an original rerelease would be cool. They should have the option of watching the edits and the original. But, as a perfectionist, I do understand why Lucas insists on reediting it. I don't think it makes it a better movie, but I get the reasoning.
S.S.R.C.P.B. They don't have to rename the rest of the movies.They should just change the original back to star wars. No ones going to be confused it's not hard to follow the chronology.

I think that Luke Skywalker's whiny attitude was more relatable than Anakin.
Miko Mikomiko yeah it was how mark hamill can act and Hayden Christensen can't.
Because Luke was venturing out of his comfort zone, he was going on this adventure and at the same he has to deal with the fact that his former life is gone and train to become a jedi.
I remember when he said to Yoda that levitating his ship was impossible I can relate to that. He's feeling pressured, it was much more better than how George had written Anakin.
Nothing to do with acting ability, everything to do with writing. Harrison Ford came and basically forced Lucas to rewrite the entire original movie's script because it all sounded forced and unnatural... kind of like the prequels, which didn't have anyone do that for Lucas.

The difference between Anakin and Luke is: Luke's complains endear him to the viewer since he complains about things most of us can relate to (e.g. being stuck in a farm while his best friends can go to college) and it is easy to see why he would complain.
Anakin on the other hand is basically an entitled brat in episode 2 who despite living everybodys dream (who would not want to be a Jedi?) is constantly whining. Even if Lucas went intentionally for this angle, he should have made sure that Anakin looked more likeable.

+YouNoob93 I'd say it was more so because of the bad writing and directing. People forget that Lucas only directed a New Hope and the prequel trilogy. Not many actors can overcome a bad director.
And with a New Hope, Lucas was relatively inexperienced and unknown, so his cast was a lot more rebellious. Ford even rewrote all his lines because the script handed to him was bad.

And that right there is why the prequels sucked. Lucas gets WAY too much credit for "inventing" Star Wars. Most of the credit for the look of the original trilogy goes to Ralph McQuarrie who did the concept art. Lucas had some REALLY stupid ideas for the original trilogy but fortunately, he was surrounded by people who were willing to tell him that.

If memory serves, the cauterizing effect was only added into the prequels to keep it PG, this allowed them to pander to a way younger audience. Tbh the films would have been far more amazing with the kind of blood and gore that a sci-fi laser based sword fight should have, but sadly it also wouldnt make much sense for the wound to not get cauterized seeing as how these blades are capable of melting most of the metals used in the films (higher grade shit then what we have today) but if you take that into consideration then the jedi and sith shouldnt be able to use lightsabers unless they used a lengthy spear form, sense the heat would be too intense for them to be so close. Overall you cant take too much thought into the matter, and the first sentence of this is pretty much the only excuse.
+Arretey Remember when Vader chops off Luke's hand in Empire Strikes Back? No blood whatsoever, not even in the original release. Also, in Attack of the Clones, we DO see a lightsaber draw blood when Count Dooku nicks Obi-Wan's arm. So I don't see how you account for the inconsistency, whether with movie logic or ratings reasons.
As for the heat issue, you can hold a blowtorch pretty close, so why not a lightsaber?

I get what point you are driving at with the comparison however it seems a little too insignificant.

Difference between Luke and Anakin is that Luke actually had a decent character arc. Went from whiny farm boy to a lovable hero as opposed to becoming more of a cry baby as the movies went on like Anakin did.
Talon Diwisch It was actually originally supposed to be where Anakin was a righteous hero, but we never really see much of a progression. He pretty much was a rebellious punk from the start of his training, and still had plenty of rotten moments before he ever put the Vader suit on.

All the prequels looked like choreographed dance. Everyone keeps using moves that had no chance of hitting anything but the enemies' sabers. They look cool on the first time but they were boring as f*ck upon repeat viewings. The only one I'd give that looked like an actual fight is Yoda vs Sidious.
