Pro Evolution Soccer 2006 deserves a mention, it was a legendary step forward - it broke the casual fifa dominance in favor of more technical gameplay. But I agree fifa caught back up

Fun Fact when we played any of the NHL Games (my friends and I here in Germany) and any other sports game as well, we always changed the buttons and controls so that they are as similar as possible to the FIFA ones. No one used the skill stick and I think that says it all why FIFA definitely deserved number one

The SDVR games were the ones that got me out of wrestling games. SYM was amazing, then HCTP was even better... Then they dropped the ball when they changed to SDVR. So disappointing.
I think NBA Street Vol. 2 is the best basketball game ever made. Realism is always a motivating factor for video game creators, but I miss games like this, NFL Blitz, and MLB Slugfest where reality gets thrown out the window and all that’s left is chaotic sports goodness

I feel like the original Xbox/PS2/Gamecube era was the golden era of video games because of the sheer variety of games that were available. Something I feel that the industry has lost as the years have gone on. But anyways here are few games I feel should’ve been mentioned. - SSX 3 - NFL Street - Cabela's Outdoor Adventures (2005) - Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball - NHL Hitz - Top Spin - Splashdown and finally my weird out of left field nomination - Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup
NHL 10 and a few after that allowed for you to add your own music to the soundtrack. I loved nothing more than to have my Welcome to the Jungle or Thunderstruck playing as my team was skating onto the ice for the game intro. It kills me that this isn't available anymore. I don't feel ready to start a game without those rocking intros anymore! PLUS, NHL10 allowed for CHL teams. How cool is that?

I mean seriously, why was NHL 2005 such a huge downgrade from 2004?! No GM's office, no arena creator in Create-A-Team, and worst of all, no Create-A-Player! NHL 2005 makes me upset because all the other EA 2005 games were big improvements over 2004, while NHL 2005 was a downgrade! And I'm a hockey fan! The only things that NHL 2005 did right was the new inclusions. Authentic arenas, face-off strategies, better graphics, smoother gameplay, and the soundtrack was just as good as 2004. If not better! From Out Of Nowhere and Take Me Out are still some of my favorite songs of all time!

@@xmohawkx985 I know, but I don't see the lockout as an excuse why so many cool features from 2004 was removed in 2005, and didn't even return in 06 and the rest of the PS2 NHL games (aside from Create A Player). Because the game was very likely built throughout the 03-04 season, before the lockout was announced. NHL 13 was a great game that was better than NHL 12, and that game came out at a lockout season
100 % agree with the SSX Tricky honourable mention. Easily the peak of that franchise. It didn't have the same cultural impact that the Tony Hawk games had as far as the "extreme sports" genre is concerned, but deffs deserves the honourable mention.

I 100% agree with Luca with No Mercy. That is one of the greatest games of all time, categories be damned. It was one of the most fun games I’ve ever played. When it comes to racing, the only game I got hooked on was ModNation Racers! Another incredibly fun game with almost limitless creativity and fun racing battles! I really wished it became a franchise. When it comes to hockey, it’s a toss up between Wayne Gretzky 3D hockey or NHL Hitz. I love the over the top aspect of it.

Ssx tricky was a great game. Also Skate 3 should be in there. Tony Hawk pro skater introduced skating but Skate 3 took it to another level.

I feel like the original Xbox/PS2/Gamecube era was the golden era of video games because of the sheer variety of games that were available. Something I feel that the industry has lost as the years have gone on. But anyways here are few games I feel should’ve been mentioned.

NHL 10 and a few after that allowed for you to add your own music to the soundtrack. I loved nothing more than to have my Welcome to the Jungle or Thunderstruck playing as my team was skating onto the ice for the game intro. It kills me that this isn't available anymore. I don't feel ready to start a game without those rocking intros anymore! PLUS, NHL10 allowed for CHL teams. How cool is that?
You missed NFL 2K5 and I think Baseball Stars deserved a spot. For me personally I absolutely played the crap out of Tony Larussa Baseball 95 on the Genesis..

NHL 2005: Why is this sandwiched between NHL 2004 and 06?
I mean seriously, why was NHL 2005 such a huge downgrade from 2004?! No GM's office, no arena creator in Create-A-Team, and worst of all, no Create-A-Player! NHL 2005 makes me upset because all the other EA 2005 games were big improvements over 2004, while NHL 2005 was a downgrade! And I'm a hockey fan!
The only things that NHL 2005 did right was the new inclusions. Authentic arenas, face-off strategies, better graphics, smoother gameplay, and the soundtrack was just as good as 2004. If not better! From Out Of Nowhere and Take Me Out are still some of my favorite songs of all time!

@@xmohawkx985 I know, but I don't see the lockout as an excuse why so many cool features from 2004 was removed in 2005, and didn't even return in 06 and the rest of the PS2 NHL games (aside from Create A Player). Because the game was very likely built throughout the 03-04 season, before the lockout was announced. NHL 13 was a great game that was better than NHL 12, and that game came out at a lockout season
100 % agree with the SSX Tricky honourable mention. Easily the peak of that franchise. It didn't have the same cultural impact that the Tony Hawk games had as far as the "extreme sports" genre is concerned, but deffs deserves the honourable mention.

Tony Hawk's Groving rounds. With the focus mode that made each stick control a foot. That was one of the coolest things i've seen in any sports game.

I 100% agree with Luca with No Mercy. That is one of the greatest games of all time, categories be damned. It was one of the most fun games I’ve ever played.
When it comes to racing, the only game I got hooked on was ModNation Racers! Another incredibly fun game with almost limitless creativity and fun racing battles! I really wished it became a franchise.
When it comes to hockey, it’s a toss up between Wayne Gretzky 3D hockey or NHL Hitz. I love the over the top aspect of it.

They did ESPN NFL 2K5 dirty. Not only was it better than Madden 05, but it was much cheaper(a $30 difference!) Plus, the game modes are fantastic
