Mamamoo were the first group to be invited to Dingo Music's Killing Voice. Solar had contacted Dingo Music and asked to perform on their Killing Verse series but Dingo declined. When Dingo Music decided to start a Killing Voice series they instantly contacted her and asked if Mamamoo could be their first guests.
Hwasa was actually sick at the time and still delivered up to this level which is insane.
She made sure that NONE of us would be able to tell 🤣
@@TJKReactsss after you dive deep enough into Mamamoo, you can tell her voice is a lil bit different! But yeah, she delivered it well. I was "Huh? Her voice is a bit different... I wonder why" until I read the comments that said she was sick/flu/cold (something like that)
Now your really need to react to Mamamoo Immortal song Medley. It’s 100% live with a band (no backing track) and it’s fucking amazing. Mamamoo with a crowd usually go twice harder than usual
Mamamoo were the first to sing at killing voice... before that it was killing verse... for rappers... aparantly solar had been bugging them to let them come on. I like to think they set the standard for future killing voices.

Videos like this make me regret not checking out K-pop earlier. I used to only listen to the trendy stuff, and usually, I wouldn't like it, so I just labeled it as "K-pop isn't for me."

BROOOOO same here. I would listen to the mainstream stuff and be more impressed by the visuals than the songs. THENNNN I dove deeper, and MAN was I wrong.

@@MooMooMuse I think it was a little flex that moonbyul had her first solo concert in Japan during this competition. Exy also had a overseas concert with her group which affected their preparation for their song. It did not affect the result.
If you can listen to 'i miss you' without feeling something, you are broken
If you listen to it and not appreciate the vocal skills of each and everyone of them, you are deaf
No matter how often I listen to it, I tear up because of the beauty of the vocals and the 'soul' of the sound.
And to think, it's a B side of early in their career. Now that's what I call a flex. :)
Every time I see a reaction to Mamamoo Killing Voice I need to stop by... never cease to be impressed at how they always sound exactly the same as the studio, be it here or a concert... but when they get to I Miss You it's impressive, I don't have much words at how much I loved that one.

i Miss you gets me every time. no matter how many times i've listen to it or watched people react to it. still gets me every time. Also Wheein is my Bias, her high note in Delcamaine when it shifts from moonbuyl to hwasa is amazing!

I think Mamamoo is the best vocal group in Kpop. Moonbyul also sings so good. It's just that she doesn't get a lot of vocal parts when with the group.

Mamamoo's live performance of I Miss You on the competition show Queendom is even better than this version. Moonbyul wrote a brand new rap verse for it too just for the fans. You should definitely react to that version, it's safe to react to and MNET won't hit your channel with a copyright claim.

Agree, I love Mamamoo but BigMama's killing voice is on another level.
It's great to see you do this cause I was into Mamamoo before XG debuted and I relate Chisa to Solar and Juria to Wheein in the way one like Outlines a piece of art and the other fills in all the other tones you want but together it's just art. I can't help but make the comparison cause their vocals are just above the rest of the industry.
Honestly, yeah, I hadn't really thought about that, but that is a solid comparison. I love being able to expirence so many different groups and singers like Mamamoo and EG
I'm guessing you probably followed djvillan's suggestion to watch their Queendom performance of I Miss You by now. I also don't typically get teary listening to pop music but I don't know know how anyone gets through I Miss You without at least a lump in their throat. And since they turned I Miss You into a love song to moomoos on Queendom I doubt their was a dry eye in the fandom while watching it.
I love Wheein's sweet voice too but Solar became my bias because she was the one who kept triggering tears when they did ballads in their 14 Immortal Songs tv show appearances. If you've only heard their hit songs and haven't watched them on Immortal Songs you're in for a major treat. Reactions to Immortal Songs get blocked by the tv network unless you filter the video so either do that or just binge watch them on your own time, esp if you don't like to cry during reactions. 😏 Backwoods is one of the IS ballads that destroyed me but my fav is their cover of Delilah, the k-version of the old Tom Jones hit from the 60's. Delilah might dislocate your jaw but at least it's not a tearjerker. lol
Btw, Dingo does do some processing on Killing Voice vocal tracks. You can find a vid with Mamamoo's raw vocals for comparison if you like but I prefer this one. They used compression to even out the volume levels and bring them in line with what you'd get in a studio recording and added a bit of reverb and delay to thicken the sound. These days almost all pop vocal tracks are run through autotune, though if Dingo used it here they did it very gently. They may not have used it because it's not like Mamamoo needs it and I didn't notice much or any of the smear effect autotune creates when it's heavily used for pitch correction.
I NEED the medley in my life! With live sound it can still only pick that up about half of the time because I studied it it for only a short while🤣 I had a feeling they were likely compressing them to keep em nice and equal but ma brain couldn't do anything with that information 💀

Got into K-pop through BTS. Couldn’t like any female K-pop group until I found Mamamoo. They sing from their souls and their performances are unmatched with vocals, stage presence, adlibs, and audience engagement. They are real artists who had to claw their way from the bottom to become one of the most respected female groups today. I have watched this Killing voice so many times and it’ll never be enough. My other favorite one is Exo and I anticipated it for years since Mamamoo was on. The vocal queens and kings!
I can agree, And Taeyeon put on a helluva a show on KV. She is the top of soloist performances for me atm.

So, are you familiar with CHUU? (a former member of the girl group Loona, which no longer exists, I believe...)
I got to know her a month ago with the release of the song "Underwater," but I know very little about Loona. I know that her agency expelled her from the group at the end of 2022, citing "abuse of power towards staff," without any evidence, but that's it. And later, she founded her own company and other members also left the group.
She popped up in my recommendations, and it was a nice surprise. I'm loving her music, and I find her really funny and entertaining.

🤣 It happens to all singers on any lvl and in any stage of health, SHE IS A BEAST, and I respect her for powering through. Funny enough, sometimes people who are sick and sing perform better. Makes no sense, but from personal experience, it's like you unlock a superpower as you near death 💀
