almost lost mine a couple weeks ago, someone made a full stop at a stop sign, must have thought it was a 4 way and went right as i was entering the intersection so i had to drift and make a hard right turn as i was origionally going straight. just got the car a month ago too 😭

I just did Ford hot rod cams in my 3v. haven't tuned it yet. but I did notice a slight knocking sound coming from the middle of the valve cover. on both sides. not sure if because needs tuned or should I be concerned

Nice! I did the cams on my 2008 GT also. I went a lot further though: larger throttle body, cold air intake, high flow oil pump, long tube headers with the high flow x-pipe (with exhaust cutouts), intake manifold all going out through the Borla stingers. With a tune from Bama, 420 hp at the crank. 👍👍
If I just want the cams for the sound is there anything that I absolutely have to upgrade or can I just get the cams and be done
@@hotjewishmanThere are plenty of cams out there that are safe to use with the stick valvetrain. Find a list of the most popular cams and the descriptions will say if they can use stock valvetrain parts or not

My GT 5.0 sounds like nothing more then stock, but when it dumps 12 lbs of boost you'll realize sound means nothing :)

Nice sounds good videos keep up the good ,got my mufflers done ,went borla atak mufflers,next mod is rims and tires still waiting rims I didn't know they were special made ,but will be werth the wait, they are VN901 all black 20×9 front and 20× 10.5 rear,next mods are cat delete h pipe, pypes headers and hot rod cams

I did a cold start with mild rev with factory cats h pipe and the borla atak ,check out how loud it is now,I'll be doing a sound clip with cat delete h pipe soon

Hey Nate! Sounds sick, man! Just to let you know, what you're experiencing when you "smell the gas" is the slight overscavenging effect of the engine cylinders due to the longer duration time of the camshaft's exhaust\intake valve overlap. This will cause a small amount of unburnt fuel to pass thru into the exhaust once the injectors start metering fuel into the incoming air flow going into the cylinders before the exhaust valve closes completely at the start of the downward piston intake stroke.
Dale Lockett is there any way to get rid of that?
I have the hot rod cams and the fuel smell is crazy strong. I thought at first i had a bad tune!! The gas smell is super strong!!
Yes there is, but you will need to take your car to a dyno shop to get a custom tune....and maybe have to change out injectors (orifice size) and fuel pump (increase fuel pressure) for the dyno tuner to reset the injector timing maps to open injectors late enough to allow the exhaust valve to completely close before injecting fuel into the air flow on intake stroke but make up the needed fuel volume injected to reach the needed AFR to get the power desired as well as camshaft timing limiters due to the VVT increasing camshaft timing on acceleration in relation to the engine piston position which can cause this. Also, a conservative mail order tune can create this issue as well as to be engine safe it is better to be a little rich in AFR instead of lean AFR which can set up having unburnt fuel gasses being scavenged into the exhaust.
In the end, regardless of whether you go NA or FI, if you want your engine to put out the best safe power numbers you need to go to a dyno shop and get custom tuned regardless of engine loadout\mods as only a good dyno tuner can make all the necessary adjustments to counter any variables encountered on a typical engine while engine is under load as they are looking at the engine mapping in real time operation and can note when\where issues are occurring across the HP\torque curves. It is the particular variables of a typical engine's system(s) that a mail order tuner can't\won't tune for, they can only take lots of actual dyno runs of a particular engine class using typical engine variables then assigning a percentage point to provide some safety protection to not harm your engine (and to protect them from liability). Yes it's not cheap, but neither is your engine when\if you have to replace it. Look at dyno tuning it as cheap insurance.............
Dam you really know your shit dave!! My car was tuned by a custom tuner at a speed shop. No mail order tune here. It smells like straight gasoline. My wife hates it now. If i go and listen to the car run briefly i have to change. Smells like gas.
You oughta get some poly motor mounts. They're cheap-ish, easy to put in, and work great. I'm supercharged so it will be more apparent for me, but you'll also get a little more power to the wheels with the lesser amount of drive train slop. I got the BMR ones but they're all basically the same. Also you'll feel the rumble more lol

My 09 GT gets 24 mpg on the highway with the 91R tune running 93 kind of crazy, I'm also in the midwest so maybe elevation plays a role

Cool car. But my two cents, you should keep the stock head light and tail lights. The aftermarket ones you have make it look like you're trying to be a 15-18 Stang. Your years light look awesome stock!!

I know you have the smaller under drive crankshaft pulley, right? so did you have to worry at all where the crankshaft pulley was when installing the FP HR cams?
No you just line up the timing marks on the cam phasers. Or using the wedge tool you mark a link and the phaser and make sure it's in the same place after swapping the Cams. Doesn't matter where the crank pulley is just the crank itself in relation to cam phaser sprockets.
Nate does your hot rod cams cause you to have a tapping noise coming from your clutch ? Mine and a few others do . Ford performance says its normal because the Lopey idle causes the slave cylinder tap . They said raise idle over 850 to make it less noticeable . Mines at 750

My car has been Cammed for 3 years now it has 111,000 I guess it just depends how well taken care of the engine is
@@tqmlly the car was bought from a single mother of 2 at 125k, and I’m the third owner. Almost positive the car has only seen a track because of me lol but I obviously keep up with maintenance as well.

U learn how to control ur cam idle after driving it for a while also just turn ur car off whenever a cop is around

Nate Rider Pypes, they’re really nice I like them a lot. I’ve got an off road x pipe that sounds really mean to go along with it. I have your same mufflers and when I had the headers and x pipe on with the mufflers it was one of the best sounding exhausts I’ve ever heard.

Can you pass emissions?
Gas mileage is gone down because you are sending some unburned fuel into the exhaust, hence the gas smell you get now too.
yeah its tough to live with this bad gas mileage! but it sure is worth it!
