The car looks so much better with those new wheels. Great to see David behind the wheel!
That 55 is old school cool for sure !
David doesn't look grumpy. Just well seasoned. Pray that I'm still going like he does at that age. Big ups!!
Yup and when he gets in the driver's seat he gets intense!
Thanks for watching
Andy
@@UnityMotorSportsGarage a time for Faking around and a time for seriousness.
David didn’t look grumpy, he had his game face on ! I am David’s age and I still drag race. He represents us Seniors in an excellent manner.
Being a (cool) male means never having to "grow up"! You're never too old to have FUN! Work hard, play hard, and have no regrets!
Nice work. Testing modern cars can be frustrating but you're making forward progress.
It can but for me that is the fun part of figuring stuff out! Hope all is well your way. Is there a tune on the tuner you sent David?
Thanks
Andy
20:50.......that K-car was Mint 😜
I remember in the late early to mid 2000's that I was paid to swap out the tame stock rear gear to 3.73 gears on his 98 Cobra, damn it sure changed the entire personality of the cobra. Fun while he owned it, got paid again to reinstall stock gear to 8.8 rear differential.
Love seeing DV still enjoying going fast. Great Video !
Your fighting torque management, you need to retune it with HPTuners or EFI live. The computer will pull timing if it the ratios aren't recalculated and the delivered torque values not increased.
We have HPTuners, I can tell it's not really happy.. hopefully once we have it tuned properly it will get down!
Thanks for the input and for watching
Andy
@UnityMotorSportsGarage 😅😅😅 Ecoboost and gettin down don't go in the same sentence.
@anthonykendrick1418 oh it will when it gets the Turbo and head Swap.. it will be down right nasty then..
Crazy if you ask me lol
Andy
You’re gonna need to get neck deep in the HPTuners for both the ECM and TCM tunes. I finally forked out the money for HPTuners and after spending a while with it, “Learning Curve”, I would swear my old truck is considerably faster than the day I drove it home from the Dealer 24 years ago. Btw, looks like a fun project.
@@UnityMotorSportsGarageWith HPtuners you can set your shift points to hold it in gear on the dyno. The bluecat software is good for setting shift points.
Anytime two brotherly blokes can drive in comfort,to the track , race and enjoy it...and get back to la casa safe and relatively pocket happy..that's good experiences...
Fun times for sure.
Glad you guys had a great day Racing! 🏁 🏎
Thanks Ed, we did have a great time even though we couldn't get a personal best!
8.52 1/8th = 13.376 1/4th. Not too shabby. The best I ever ran in my old '68 Charger was 13.39 (street tires) @106.01.
Neat stuff! ET whittling is fun, whatever the car. And ain’t that ‘55 Chevy a winder!
That 55 is wicked quick..
Thanks for watching
Andy
That velocity blue mustang looks like the one I traded in....I bought new in 19 it ran 13 flat quarter mile.😊stock.
Andy looking good. I was so against deveating from mission impossible, but I am 100 percent onboard with St. Judes. You should rename the project "St. 18".
Thanks for the kind words! I think that you will still find the 318 build still relatable and I'm going to run that name by Charlie and David!
Thanks for watching
Andy
Dave has that style that you cannot shake Karens be screaming mad 🤣
😆
Andy
As you guys were talking, driving to the dragstrip I wondered "what is the car's computer gonna make of this gear change?" It's an 18% increase in torque multiplication, not outrageous but not peanuts, as the wheelspin shows.
So many variables going on, it's interesting stuff. I'm sure it makes the car row through all those gears that much quicker now!
The computer just seems confused.. lol I believe a proper tune will fix it right up!
Andy
I agree with you Andy on the wheel and tire combo
It looks sharp!
Andy
Great video. Love the intro and behind-the-scenes look at Shadyside. You really caught the vibe of test n tune night.
Definitely a good looking and performing wheel and tire package.
I like the wheel combo he has..
Thanks for watching
Andy
Good stuff. Thanks Andy
Thanks Mike!
Andy
David’s not grumpy, he’s serious!
Nice! Mustangs are alot of fun.
Here for support
Thanks for watching
Andy
My 15 ecoboost had a sport position on the shifter and paddles on the wheel. It would let you hold a gear, unless you did something silly like slow way down in a high gear. It was 6 speed auto.
This is just a base model so it doesn't have the paddle shifters 😢
Thanks for watching
Andy
That 55 is wicked cool. Gassers forever! No electronics, no boost, just carbs, cam, and compression!
The magic 3 C's
Good job. I know you guys are working your asses off. And Charlie will be doing the same while he is up there
We are trying! We have many irons in the fire but things are coming together! I was able to hang out with Charlie and crew today hoping we will be shooting some vids tomorrow
Andy
@@UnityMotorSportsGarage cool. Glad things are going good.
@UnityMotorsportsGarage- Cool temp's @ the track, mean's make's good power, but traction is not great. I would do more of a burnout, even with regular tires, to put more heat in them, on a cold day. The trick is, with regular street tires, do a low wheel speed burnout, but for about 8 to 10 seconds. This allows the regular tire to slowly build heat, but just as importantly, to coat it with the sticky drag tire compounds, from the other drag racers burnouts! It used to work great for me, i managed a 1.71 60 ft time, and ran a 12.21 @ 113 Mph, with regular Cooper Cobra radial tires, with 25 psi.
trying to do a burnout on that car is tough.. I can start a slow burnout but once the boost comes in it will just melt the tires without my permission.. its like a light switch!
Thanks for watching and your input
Andy
@@UnityMotorSportsGarage- Yes your situation is definitely different than mine was, yours being a turbo, and small cu. In. Eng.= very peaky= hard to modulate the power, vs my Na., Large cu. In. Eng.= very fat tq. Curve= very easy to modulate. Hope you don't think im a know it all? I'm just trying to see if i can give any idea, that may assist your progress. Do you think holding= manually putting the shifter in 1st gear, would work for your burnout procedure, with these regular street tires? This very low gear ratio, in 1st gear, would allow a high rpm(but low wheel speed burnout) for 8 to 10 seconds= a much easier, controllable, burnout? Drag radials, will definitely do better. Are you going to get the shortest drag radial possible, to keep tire wt. down, and gear ratio, as quick as possible? ❤your videos!
Hey, Dave racing a Commodore.....cool. He got He race Face on!!
Yes he does! At 81 years old he still has competition in his blood
Andy
Fantastic!!@@UnityMotorSportsGarage
The new wheels look great on it. Times are getting good now. Has the intercooler been upgraded yet. That stock IC gets heat soaked so fast.
Again for reference my bone stock 21 GT ran a 8.03 on good street tires. You’re almost there with a stock turbo. Good luck
Perhaps overcast skies and cool temperatures made the track not so sticky, I've ran into that before. Love the testing!! And hey, at least you ARE testing, our track is still closed 😊
I believe you are right Tim. I also think the computer is confused about the gear swap also.. but that is above my pay grade!
Hope all is well your way Thanks for watching
Andy
Great looking tire and wheels!
I agree!
Andy
@UnityMotorSportsGarage Andy & DV it won’t be long before you’re stressing the stock driveline to the limit when you add drag radials. Get the tuning right plus increase trans pressures along with shift points and adding NO2, I’m afraid you’ll find the next weak point.
That's the point! Something has to give... I believe it will live for a good while since the drive line in the Coyote Cars are basically the same. But we shall see!
Andy
im liking it.
By the way Andy David didn't look grumpy he looks like a man on a mission. Also looked like quite a few cars showed up for test and tune.
I agree... He is super focused!
Intense
Are you all data logging? If not I highly suggest you get a bank’s data monster and start. Best part is it gives the rpm/sec acceleration weight. Obviously if you run under the same conditions and it accelerates quicker you are making more power. 😊 For about $400 you can monitor ever data point the factory ecu is monitoring and have a record of it.
Look at cvf racings heat exchanger upgrade. They show real world gains in efficiency. Might be why it was lying over. Hot intake air the computer will pull timing.
That's determination....with a grumpy visage....😝
Mr Vizard, Did you do the 3.73's for the 1/8 mile? I always used taller gears for my Turbo/Manual cars racing in the 1/4 mile. I didn't have to shift as much and they seemed to like load/each gear was effective.
Wheels! Love. Dv grumpy.? He’s going to kick that guy ass in the next lane. The car? Looks great! No more waxing! You’re going to put to much weight on the car with all that wax. The problem? The new stuff you have to have a tuner guy with you on the new stuff just to figure out what to do. Did you ever get the air box done on the car?
👍👍👍
Will be there for the SEGA race April 12th. Maybe we will see you there.
I will be there!
Andy
yall get you some tires Atturos makes very cheap high performance summer tires (AZ850) and Drag radials that are cheaper than other options and if their as good as the street tire definitely the tire to get
Id like to see an Ecoboost and 10 speed in a foxbody mustang or Fairmont. In stock form it's similar hp with less weight.
Thanks Andy, v/r wh
That Blue Mustang had some burnout tires on. Super Smokers...
Tell me about it!
Andy
That's cool for a four banger 😅
That G8 though.. Yeah Dave looks Grumpy as he tries to get a jump on him
Hey Andy, question on the Caspermatic, what year 4r100 to look for on my mustang 2 project tia 😊
That would depend on the engine you are going to run. The 4R100's are pretty much all Mod Motor bells, I do believe that one year it was offered behind the 300 6 and that would have the SBF bell.
I would take some measurements to make sure it will fit the floorpan and Firewall as it's a big transmission
Andy

Cool stuff. Why not go to 4.10's? It's a lot of gear for my SN95 with a T-45 but I'd figure it'd work great with that many gears!
The 10R80 has a 4.69 first gear ratio... Im actually thinking once we add more power we will need to take gear out!
Andy
@@UnityMotorSportsGarage , with that steep of a first gear, I would be happy with a 3.55. I remember swapping a 2.73 gear, in my 89 5.0 LX coupe ,to 3.55s. Wanted 3.73s but they were on backorder. Always thought the 5spd cars ran better with 3.55s. A lot of things have changed in 32 years.
What are you doing with the 3.15 gear set. I might be interested for my 1940 Ford Fordor when I change to an 8.8 instead of the 2.79 Pontiac axle.
This is a Super 8.8 gear set which is different than regular 8.8's
Most likely once we add some real power to it we might need to put it back in..lol
Thanks for watching
Andy
@@UnityMotorSportsGarageI read something about the Super 8.8 and it being different but nothing about what is different. I stopped at the local Ford dealer and talked to the parts manager who used to be service manager. He said he knew nothing about a Super 8.8 diff.
I have a Crown Vic parts car with 2.26? gears and an AOD. That 302 must have been at idle speed on the highway. The ring gear is thinner where the bolts go through or the carrier has the gear mount flange moved over to make room for the large diameter pinion. Labeled an 8.5" but 8.8" carrier and gears drop right in.
I did get a set of 3.55 gears from my brother in law when he switched to 3.73 in his 05 Mustang that he used for track days. The 3.55 should work fine with an AOD with the wide ratio gears or a 4R70W. Putting the planetary set into an AOD would let me install without a control module. The car is a cars and coffee driver.
clean is slippery!
Why change the gear ratio when it has a 4.70 first gear? That's like putting a 5.40 gear in a stock 5.0 foxbody and running on the gatorbacks. It did good considering.
Grumpy Gramps
👍👍
Thanks for the footage brother!
@@UnityMotorSportsGarage no problem
Great video! I love seeing David run!
Thanks Charlie! DV loves that Mustang and I love seeing him enjoy himself with it
Andy
No doubt! Thanks!
First gear has a 4.70:1 ratio, a 3:15 final drive _is not deep_ , hell the overall ratio is 14.8:1 in first gear. A 4R70W trans in a car with 4.56 gears has a 14.3 overall ratio in 1st. With only 4 gears to work with, instead of 10.
Needs a slant swap
I'm good... Lol
Andy
Turn the "nannies" off and drive it off the line. After all the T peddle is not just an off-on switch.
On this car it is kind of an off on switch with it building boost.. it's a fun car to drive!
Put wilburn in the trunk for traction
That could work... 😆
Andy
will it let you start out in 2nd or 3rd gear ? or how about just floor it from idle on the light. no power brake
It starts out in First from an idle but the problem is the lack of boost doing it that way.. and when it comes on it feels like a two stroke that just hit it's powerband
Thanks for watching
Andy
He looked focused, not grumpy.
Guys....the 10 speed leaves all the torque out. Drop back down to the other gear set.
I think a lot of 10spd guys are taking gear out as the power goes up.
Exactly! Thanks for watching
Andy
@@UnityMotorSportsGarage You might look into some tuning and an xdi fuel pump.
15x10 wheel conversion with a bias ply slick would be a good place to start.
Car definitely doesn’t need a slick. Mustangs are going 3’s on a radial, the radial technology is far better than is used to be.
@nsxmatt absolutely!
I don't understand...
Why are your track times slower than mine?
And I'm referring to the ET and MPH from my first trip to the track, when my base Ecoboost Mustang with 3.15 gears, was 100% factory stock with oem tires and pump gas, zero modifications , just like it came off the show room...??
I'm not trying to pick on you guys, I'm a fan and really want to see you succeed!
That a lot of gear for a light weight car.
Something in the 3.40s gear area would have been better
Andy, I'd recommend you wear a helmet when drag racing, even in a "slow" car. Cuz ya just never know what might happen. I don't wanna see any Andy Wood Memorial race.
He looks Grumpy
All business!!! That is for sure
Thanks for watching
Andy
That 55 is bad!
Andy Wood David Visard my sound is not working 😕 my channel password deleted t-mobile store.
