      That 2014 Mustang has a better integrated instrument cluster than the 2024. The interior of the 2024 just seems like it was cobbled together without any attention to integrative thought. Definitely detracts from the higher price tags of today’s Mustang.

      People really don't understand how inflation works or how the car market has developed. A Mustang from the 2000 would be more expensive to buy today than the current Mustang price and in 2010 it would be more or less the same price for less features. So you are getting about the same in both cases, modern cars just have more features and safety equipment on them.

    I ordered the exact same configuration for my new mustang last month, only added night pony for bigger wheels and painted roof with different headlights and black badges. Have some discounts b/c of company I work for but not as good as a deal as you guys got. Some things about this configuration I would like people to know. (Also grabber blue not the dark blue)
    301A package which is 2k gives you the partial leather (vinyl) seats with driver electric and adds lumbar as well as 9 speaker audio (adds sub and a puller speakers). Gives you the heated seats and the duel zone climate control. I originally skipped this, but changed order to include because they are all nice to haves and can’t add cheap later.
    Active exhaust is worth every penny, 1.2k and bumps 480 hp to 486 hp. Looked on ford performance to add afterwards is more like 3k if you could even get the screen to show the buttons and features like starting in quiet mode.
    10-speed auto, I drove this and it’s pretty good. Marginally better mpg. But really just works for my commute better, would love the stick just can’t justify it as my only car that the girl drives when needed.
    As for the brakes, the upgraded 6 piston brembos are huge and I do want them. But EcoBoost to GT gives you an upgrade of brakes (the baby brembos) as well as wider tires.
    I think this configuration is a great build on top of configuration, excited to see what y’all do!

    I enjoy keeping up with the news in the automotive world and your latest insights on the 2024 Mustang GT got me thinking. The comment about the last drive and first drive are very true. I remember when I was ten years old and my parents bought a new car. The last drive in my parent’s 1954 Chevrolet Sedan was very sad day.
    Your articles and insight on the new vehicles entering the market are always interesting. When I was looking to replace my 2004 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with one of the newer midsized pickups, I found your reviews helpful in making my final decision. During my research on the Toyota Tacoma, one complaint concerning the automatic transmission was that a lot of buyers did not like the shift points. This was not an issue with my 2004 Dodge Dakota because it was a driver adaptive transmission and the best automatic transmission I ever owned. It was also the most expensive to repair at $2500. As I considered the complaint with the Tacoma automatic transmission, I concluded that the engineers programmed the system for efficiency and not drivability which most likely lead to the complaints about shift points. This sealed my decision to search for a manual transmission Tacoma that was languishing on a dealer lot. In December of 2018 I found a new 2017 Tacoma Extended Cab 6 speed MT at the local Toyota dealership.
    I have to say that I was disappointed to see the new Mustang GT optioned with an automatic transmission for the various reasons:
    1. Trade-in - Lame reasoning in my opinion
    2. Members of video crew - teaching opportunity
    3. Fuel efficiency - Real world conditions?
    4. Performance - Maybe?
    5. We review what most people will purchase.
    6. As a businessman…go with an automatic.
    Unfortunately what I hear from many automotive experts is their love for manual transmission but a failure to support them by actually driving a manual transmission vehicle in a long term test. Many of the same excuses are echoed. The automatic transmission has come a long way but is also being programmed for efficiency and not drivability. The CVT, even though it is extremely efficient, was deemed as too droning by the American market. Subaru engineers have gone great lengths to design their CVT to act like an automatic transmission, with shift points as well as a seven speed manual mode, to appease buyers. Other automakers have also used shift points in CVT’s to appease the American market. What they are really doing is making the CVT less efficient to make it more like an automatic or manual transmission. Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, et al., even turned manual transmissions into an “automatic transmission” for the drivers that did not want to deal with the clutch pedal.
    It has been stated by Andre that the Toyota Tacoma with the manual transmission is a favorite truck. Several vehicles have been featured on FLT with manual transmissions. The only way to get the new generation of drivers interested in a manual transmission is to show what can be achieved with a manual versus an automatic or CVT. Those of us who have driven manual transmissions vehicles a long time take a lot for granted. For example , I reminded a friend recently that they could downshift their automatic transmission on a long downhill to save their brakes. For a manual transmission driver, this is an automatic gear choice.
    I have seen a few articles that point to an uptick in the automotive market concerning interest in the manual transmission. Let’s hope that it can be brought back from near extinction.

    Thanks for the video, I could never see myself selling that 2014 for that new one. Good to see a real world video and not a hype video for the new one. Definitely like the older gauges and interface better. A mustang has never had rectangles in its design language. That interior was a big mistake in my opinion.
    I think the blue was the best color.

    Great car. Great color. And, as said, everything you need and nothing you don't. What's not to like? And a discount, too. I would personally like an interior that's not black, but there's actually a lot of positives with the cloth seat centers, so I don't think that's in any way a deal breaker, and in Colorado I would think cloth seats are arguably a plus. Makes sense to get the auto given you don't plan to keep it long, etc. Congrats!

    You'll regret trading your S197 lol. I love the solid rear axle and the muscle feel of it. The new ones are nice but they are just not the same. I also like the sound of the s197 more as well. Lastly, it's amusing how the S197 is still faster than the new ones because it weighs less and puts its power down better 😅

      You would take a s197 over an s550. I’m shopping GT’s right now and I have about $25k to play with. I wanted the s550 for the suspension but it’s hard to find good low mileage examples for $20-25k and that’s ridiculous.

    You know, I’m still not sold on the two screens, but the longer I look at the exterior, the less I hate it. The Blue with black trim looks great in my opinion and I think a nice set of polished aluminum or even (gasp!) chrome wheels might be the ticket. FWIW I see a drag pack wheel and tire setup (skinnies up front and fatties in the rear) when I think of the polished aluminum setup but I realize how much that would compromise the dynamics of the car as far as content goes.
    I’ve had a 1987 Notch and a 2011 GT, I miss them both. Seeing this one has me nostalgic and itching to go build one online. Best of luck with the car and I’ll be patiently waiting for content with it!

    Everyone saying they should have got the manual should remember that the GT comes with the MT82, which is known to be a poor manual transmission. Ford needs to get rid of it and only use Tremec.

    • @kennetho5393
      @kennetho5393 Před 4 měsíci +4

      Three things on the MT82:
      I have the MT82 in my 2013 5.0. Still even has the original fluid. Still shifts like new and I like it a lot. It's not perfect but the aftermarket has some great upgrades. In fact there is some great builds that handles 1,000 to 2,000 horsepower reliably.
      There were some early issues back in mid 2010 (2011 MY), but no real issues since. The 2018 got an update with revised ratios (MT82 D4) and again, some early issues I'm aware of. It's the only manual I'm aware of from the factory that can reliably handle 800+ rwhp stock. Long term too.
      People complain about manual transmissions all the time. Even Challenger and Camaro owners have their fair share of failures and complaints with Tremec.

    • @ryanm5626
      @ryanm5626 Před 4 měsíci

    I love my ‘22 GT. I’m excited that Ford is investing in the future of the V8 for some more years. There’s two things I can’t get past on the one in the video. The first is the lack of a third pedal. I get resale but the trade off between the difference in price and the daily joy of changing gears just wouldn’t get me into an auto. Second, just not a fan of the screen in place of the gauge cluster. My dash is digital but it looks built in and the new one just looks a little out of place. However, nothing can take away from the sweet sound of Mustang firing up. Who needs a radio with that exhaust? I hope y’all enjoy yours half as much as I enjoy mine.

    That trick also works really well with motorcycles. Buy a motorcycle from somewhere way up north in the winter and ride it back south if you're mad or have it sent to you.
    And enthusiasts don't care if something is faster. They want better. Just ask your significant other if they would prefer you were faster or better and you'll have the answer to why you should choose a manual.
