    So Andy If I have a cam with a 110 lsa and David’s formula determines I need a 106 lsa can I advance the cam 4 degrees to achieve the 106 degrees?

      LSA and ICL specs are completely different. LSA is ground into the Camshaft and cannot be changed, ICL can be advanced or retarded Andy

    4500' flow rating are at 1" H20 where 4150 ratings are at 1.5" H20. This means Dominators flow way more at same pressure drop.. Not surprising that peak power is higher with Dominators.

    Consider that the fan is also generating thrust. It has to if it's moving air from the front to the rear, and a mech fan moves way more air than an electric. In a moving car this counts for something hp wise.

    I could not agree with you more Andy. I have videos on my FB where my car that only makes 540 at the tires is running over cars that are making over 2X the power my car makes. I’m a N/A stick shift guy to the end my coyote swap fox has been 6.20s @ 110+ in the 1/8 and that’s fast enough for me.

    OVER-RATED!! Maybe in it's day.. Heck, there's 4cyl K-series making over a thousand hp! And it's like the car designers NEVER met with the Power train designers! It's 2024.5 and if you want to build up your MOPAR, nothing fits without surgery. IE. Headers barely fit. (Still to this day!) K-member could be better design, and they let other "entities" make 5-6spds... (Until just a few years ago) 40+yr gap?

    The Ford Boss is number 1. It is not allowed to compete. As soon as nhra got wind someone was going to get serious with it and bring it back, they promptly banned the bore spacing of the Ford. Why, why is any engine protected. It doesn't make any sense.

    I have a 1982 Z28 Camaro sbc 355 with a th350 transmission and a vacuum secondary Holley 750 I believe… Help me out here what should I do to make a bit more snappy and reliable at lower throttle still running ported makes good ish manifold vacuum and 55psi of oil pressure any suggestions appreciated… Thanks

    What is the rag on ethanol? It's just an octane booster. Many drag racers use ethanol-based fuels. The Efree gas just uses another chemical mix to raise the octane. Granted it's not good if not used within 3 months or so as it absorbs water from the atmosphere, but it's just fine for daily drivers. I do use it for all my power tools, '53 Ford and boat. But Efree adds very little for most users.

    This engine was actually simple to understand. In track form, it was a high rpm, high horsepower speedway engine. It was not engineered to be a street engine or drag strip engine. If Ford didn't have to put it in a consumer car, as the rules at the time stated, it would have never been used for anything outside NASCAR.

    Far as bill goes, I wasn't there , but know a guy that was friends with the team , back then they wasn't that strict on checking engine internal , according to him they cheated , had higher flow heads , and porting done way past the max limit / rules , higher lift cams , more than max , and even the bore and stroke was not legal with rules , everyone else went by the rules! They didn't check as much , didn't have the equipment to check / hadn't been made yet to check without literary tearing down a complete engine.. Was this tell true or a tell?? Well you do the math and build a 351 c and say a 350 Chevy with early NASCAR rules and run them and you'll have your answer , lol

    A purely stock hemi in a charger or GTX was very beatable. As a teenager (1979) I remember a race between a 1970 Camaro with a 427 - .373 gears - automatic with B&M shift kit & 2500rpm stall speed converter. The other guy had a Hemi challenger - single 4bbl - .410 gears - 4 speed with a competition clutch. I was only 16 years old and remember the race not being close. The Camaro won by at least 2, maybe 3 car lengths. The difference was rpm’s! The 427 seemed to accelerate much faster and revved higher.

    I'm a retired Automotive Engineer. Point of note: the factories now build their vehicles within a narrow design envelope for their intended purpose. Keeps costs down. Go too far astray with your re-engineering and you will quickly be outside that envelope. In 1968, a major mag took an off the floor 396 375 HP Camaro to the strip. To make a long story short, they broke and had to upgrade every part of the chassis and drive train before they could use the power of the untouched engine. Put on traction bars - break the drive shaft. Put on slicks - blow the clutch! Yahda, yahda, yahda.
