you may be confusing/conflating body gua sha with the one for the face. they are different and body coining does produce bruising etc but never for face!
If you’re bruising you’re applying way to much force. There should be redness that comes from increased blood flow but that should go away within minutes. Never perpendicular to the skin and ALWAYS use on oiled skin. Never on dry. There should be no tension. It should glide on the skin with little pressure.
If you have bruising you are going too hard. That level of pressure is usually reserved for moving cold out the body and breaking up stagnation in the limbs. Always apply proper moisture to reduce harm to skin but if you have severe acne it’s best to heal that first.
If you’re bruising you’re doing it wrong. The first time I tried a gun sha my face bruised but it’s because I was too heavy handed and didn’t do it right. Let’s stop limiting people from techniques that actually provide powerful solutions and start teaching people how to do it correctly.
Agree bruising isn’t common but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t tell people of rare side effects. Personally I do it several times a week and have never gotten bruising 👍
It’s been a miracle for my TMJ and jaw clenching. I do 50% of the scraping on my neck particularly the sides and it’s made a complete difference when nothing else has
There’s NEVER bruising in the face! Your supposed to use medium to light pressure the only thing is your face will be red for about ten minutes that’s it though
It works if you know what you’re doing. The problem is most people don’t know what they’re doing 😅. A trained practitioner is best! If you want to try it at home, go GENTLE.
