    Please could you tell me why some people do downward movement on the back of the neck and some do it upward like you do? Also some people say not to do the front part of your throat because of the spot that house your thyroid. thanks

    • @StephanieMarie
      @StephanieMarie  Před 7 měsíci

      I feel more pressure release when I use downward motions on the back of the neck. The thyroid issue comes into play with stimulation from devices like radiofrequency or nanocurrent/microcurrent but isn't an issue with gua sha.

    What is a good under eye PRIMER to smooth that area? Can regular primer be used instead?

    Question - what do you recommend as the Gua Sha lubricant for someone with combination/dry skin, acne prone, and a bit sensitive? Is there an oil or moisturizer you’d recommend for my type of skin?
    I’m concerned about using an oil, afraid that it could cause pore blockage and more acne. There are only 3 moisturizers I’ve had success with: Ole Henriksen’s Strength Trainer Peptide Boost Moisturizer (my best one), Paula’s Choice Clear Oil-free Moisturizer, and Sunday Riley’s ICE (if I use sparingly).

      Hello. I have similar type of skin and use aloe Vera gel for face massages and such workouts. It works well for me and doesn’t cause breakouts. Hope it helps :)

    Since this is an older video, you may not see my question/comment. But I’m wondering..after Gua Sha-Ing, your face has oils on it. Do you wash that off? Or do you layer your skin care products over the top? Seems a waste to wash it off but the oil is a bit heavier than serums, so seems the products wouldn’t be as effective if layered over oil. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Are you on birth control? I am thinking about going on it again to go through perimenopause, because I believe going off of it made me get some more sagging in my skin and loss of muscle tone. Your skin facial skin is tight and you are older than me.

      Hi Abby! Everyone is different when it comes to skin elasticity rate and aging. Genetics, sun and skincare, etc all play a part. I’m not on traditional BCP since I get migraines, but have a Mirena IUD which has localized hormones to the uterus and don’t travel throughout the body.

      Are you thinking of microcurrent devices? Microcurrent etc is a no-no there. Light pressure gua sha has been shown to be just fine and improving lymphatic drainage is beneficial for immunity and inflammation. But check with your doctor if you have concerns 👍🏼

    I prefer a roller you don’t need to use any oil and it’s feels more like a massage.

    • @StephanieMarie
      @StephanieMarie  Před rokem +1

      I like the way a roller feels and depuffs my under eyes. But I feel like I get better overall results with a gua sha. The best of both worlds for me is that stainless cryo gua sha because of the thickness/roundness.

    I'm 45 and used the jade roller a few years ago, but felt it thinned out my face immediately so I stopped. Now I'm interested in the Gua sha for lymph drainage, but am scared that it'll thin out my already thin with a few wrinkles face. I don't get puffy and you have more cheekbones than I so what do you think I should do? Thanks for your time and any feedback!

    • @StephanieMarie
      @StephanieMarie  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I don't find these to thin out my face. They don't dissolve fat, so I'm not sure what you're experiencing that would cause that. Mine depuff and give a lift. Since you have a roller and didn't like the effect, I'd give the Gua Sha a try. I listed some affordable options and the effect is temporary at first, so if you don't like it, you can just stop. Or you can just use it for the drainage part and do 4-5 strokes. :)

      They absolutely can. They don’t hold cold though, can’t reach around to the back of the neck to get that angle, and don’t glide quite as easily so I prefer to use a gua sha. I’ve used hands/knuckles when traveling though.

      Gua sha is an ancient form of Chinese medicine and is definitely not time wasted since depuffing and lymphatic drainage are very real things. We do it because It’s effective and has been for ages. 👍🏼 It’s ok to not want to change and try different things though. You do you! 💗
