Thank you doctor for this video. I have tried almost everything to look younger + delay aging as much as possible, anything from face exercises, vitamin C serum, Fraxel, collagen supplements and of course Retin A (7 years straight), home devices and what not. However, nothing made any real difference compared to the high-quality derma pen I purchased for around 100 bucks. Within 3 months of use, my skin has improved DRAMATICALLY. I don't look like I'm 18 again, but definitely not 44 either. My fine lines have disappeared completely, and my nasolabial folds are way less are nonexist (Never had jowls though). People often underestimate the power of wounding and the revolutionary effects it can have on the skin.

+1 for kora beauticaIs. I've been doing microneedling since it started 12 or so years ago. Nobody believe I am 55. They all say I am in my 30's or early 40's. As you know, as we get old, our skin gets thinner therefore creating wrinkles. But the wounding kept my skin still thick and youthful. Your comment will help so many women to restore their skin..

I'm 68. This is the first - and likely the last - video I have watched on aging skin. Chubby cheeks in youth and jowls with age absolutely run in my family, and they're showing up in spades this year. My takeaway from this "experience" is that there's nothing I can do about jowls without spending huge amounts of money on products and procedures, and even that will only bring a very temporary improvement.
I already have a very basic b.i.d. healthy skin regimen, so I'll just continue that, try to eat healthier, drink more water, and spend my money on meditation classes to help me accept myself and aging as a healthy, beautiful part of life.
Thanks for helping me get over that mental hurdle quite quickly.

I'm a similar age, outdoor aussie bloke and was thinking exactly exactly the same thing. Isn't this young woman's honesty tremendous, saving a lot of us considerable time and money, I like her a lot. Why does anybody want to head towards the end of their life looking like a brand new car that never left the showroom anyway? It's not half as appealing as an old jalopy covered in dings, dents, bumper stickers and 27 layers of paint attesting to the many different eras it continues to live thru.

This was such a beautiful post to run into tonight -thank you for your words that provided much perspective and real beauty. At 53 I have noticed a round face and when looking at profile from the side it seems like my chin and neck are sloping into each other -really a bummer. I have trichotillomania -no lashes or brows either -so this is just not great for my esteem. However, I will also try my best but I want to be around positive like minded people like you -too much obsession over things that really just can't be controlled.

@moonharp We are the same age - I'll be 69 in early November - and everything you said is ME! My skin is wrinkle free and smooth, except for some forehead lines, but the jowls are here to stay. My mother had them as well, with beautiful skin and few wrinkles. I am a carbon copy of my mother as far as our facial aging. I aged the same way she did. I have very high cheekbones, which helps, I think, with the "falling face," but also I've noticed my cheeks have started to not be as fulll as they used to be. I do what you do and drink lots of water and moisturize, try to eat well, and will be getting in more exercise, but I'm tired of buying things and doing things that are supposed to rid me of these "pouches." It's time to enjoy the years I have left (husband recently passed) and not worry about what I can't fix. It's not that important in the grand scheme of life.. Thank you for saying it best , and I'm sure you're a beautiful women! Blessings! +

I have been massaging my face and doing face yoga for a very long time now I can confirm that it has helped me immensely. You just have to look at some of the Asian women teaching these tequnique to know they work. Also like any excersise or gentle treatment it takes time to see result but if you are persistent you can see them 100%. Shereene, I think you are a lovely person and you look beautiful and have fabulous skin but I would urge you to stop advising people to avoid using tools and technique that work and are natural and can help many many people look better and feel better.
Saying face excersie is temporary is the same as saying body excersise is temporary.. so would you advice people not to exercise completely??

There’s not much you can do about heredity, but you can create a welcoming facial facial expression. A couple of years ago, I worked to devrlooe a more positive mental attitude and aimed for a slight relaxed smile as my resting face. I’m 77 and now live alone. But I practice it as I sit at my computer, cook, or run my errands. As we get older, we tend to wear on our faces what we are thinking, and may have been thinking for years. So many wear a perpetual frown, lines of anger, depression , judgement, and life disappointment. As we get older, no matter what physical changes are happening, we can project a serenity and welcome in our facethat is gold to people stressed by life. A smile can change any face into something lovely. Believe, it takes some work inside before it shows outside. But if I can help someone in a moment to feel loved, accepted, and beautiful with a smile, I have fulfilled a desire in my older age to make a difference.

No matter how well you take care of your skin, you will lose collagen and elasticity REGARDLESS of your skincare routine. It’s as if you didn’t even watch the video at all lol. But really, people should already know this and not need a video to tell them, but clearly I’m wrong about that because you still have no clue.

Oh my GOD, how serendipitous that this video showed up in my suggested vids! I'm 38, and had a Morpheus8 treatment back in April of this year. I've never had any laser treatments on my face before. I have definitely noticed some loss in volume on and under my cheekbones since then. I was going to get another one within the next month, and now I think I shouldn't! I don't need facial fat loss, and I actually had no idea that this treatment did that. I'm so grateful I watched the entire 17 minutes, lol

That really helped me to lift those areas as I toned the muscles, and the jawline is back. I think face exercises is the best, and just being constant is the key, you really see good results. Even with a soft pillow your face gets squished for several hours during the night and over time I'm sure this increases sagging of the skin and lines under the eyes. Also, smile a lot and nobody will notice your jowls 😊

As to your last comment, we have to remember when we look in the mirror we see something much different than others do. We're looking at a static image, for the most part, whereas others are watching your eyes, your smile and facial expressions. All of those things are expressions of personality which is the most attractive (or in some cases, unattractive) thing others see. So yes...just be happy and smile more! Worthwhile video. You did well for a girl who found it difficult to find her English tongue! I’ve tried most of the above, and now I’m going to retire gracefully! I’ll be careful not to put on too much weight, and keep out of the sun. I am using all the right products for my skin, thanks to all the education from CZcams videos. I love yours! 😊

This was an informative video. I'm about to hit 40 and going through that second peak where my face is really starting to look "its age". Having you explain what's happening makes it all feel more manageable and that indeed it's a natural process and that there isn't really any permanent way to prevent it or make it go away. The sooner I learn to accept my new face, the happier I'll be.

Finally! A complete explanation of how some treatments work and how much they last. I really like her scientific approach. Thank you for not “selling” stuff, but educating us. So that we can better chose what to buy.

I love your sincerity! Si we just live ourselves the way we are, gravity exists so at the end of the day nobody really cares about how you look. Personality is what counts... So let's all work on that. At the end of the day we are never going to look as good as a teenager. Just be kind to yourself and try to look your best if you want to🤷🏼‍♀️❤

Wow thank you! I learned a lot! As a 50 yo woman, I’ve started to notice them slightly forming and have been trying to find a decent dermatologist to guide me based on my type but so far just feels like the ones I have come across seem more interested in patent answers than understanding what I am concerned with.

I’m really happy I found your channel. I had a major issue with my skin a few years back - it may have just been stress related because I’ve literally NEVER had so many breakouts in my life and it was the single most stressful time I’ve ever had. It might be because I had both Lyme disease and mono at the time. I also compulsively picked at my skin throughout. The doctors were stumped - I must’ve looked like I had a drug problem because my face was an absolute mess - I’ve never had the problem before. The took a guess that it might be foliculitis and gave me triamcinone acetonide but it didn’t really solve it. Now I have left over brown scars and have also just started noticing a lovely hyperpigmentation mustache - what every woman dreams of lol but you explain the different conditions viable options so clearly that I feel like I finally know what to try out. Thank you for the information! Here’s hoping!

I’m 48 and just started noticing drooping in the jowl area which is the first thing that I’ve noticed aging in a negative way. Ugh! I appreciate the honest and thorough advice so much! I have benefited from doctors who are willing to be honest about what treatments are ill advised if you don’t want to make things worse or so you can plan for future possibilities.

You only see it now? You must do something we don't do. I am 38 and it happens fast. But I recently got back to intermittent fasting and walking/running more. I think it's the first thing I realise do anything. Other than that I look young. So the jowls look weird. But I really believe it's manageable internally, unlik thus lady's pessimism.

I'm approaching my mid 30s. The jowls are the first and really only sign of aging I have. Thank you for your honest and informative talk about what is happening with my face. I'm not someone who really has a lot of time or money to put into these procedures so it's good to know that this is a common problem. Personally, I think the best route for me is learning to love my new face and maybe learning some new makeup tricks bit for me that can only happen when I know this is a normal part of aging.

Right.. and after you get cataract and vision correction surgery, you will tell me how well your faces have aged. I just have both surgeries done and look at the same mirror I did in my 20’s, that’s how much I have aged in 3 decades.
