Personally I still think it's possible that Vespa could have trained Hornet in combat, perhaps just with the help of other bees like Hive Knight there to offer more personal training while Vespa watched from above and dictated the training as a whole. However I mostly say this just because I feel like Hornet's style of combat is fairly similar to the Hive Knight's, as they both use needles for charging stab attacks and surround the arena with spike traps.
