It's interesting how lumaflies seem to survive in hermetically sealed containers for all the time since Hallownest fell, implying that even without food, water or air they not only survive but continue to violate conservation of energy and produce an endless supply of light. There's also the seemingly related 6 winged monarch flies seen when the monarch wings are collected, which with the connection the monarch wings have to the Pale King might imply the king has some connection to lumaflies themselves. There even seems to be a four winged variant in Silksong, appearing to free Hornet from her cage, before the start of the lace boss fight and in an image presumably at the Citadel, so if these things are a big part of Silksong lore then maybe when the game eventually comes out we'll learn more about the whole extended lumafly family.
I also wonder what their connection is with monarchflies, if any. They seem similar, being small, flighty bugs which give off light, but monarchflies are obviously larger and possess six wings, just like the pale king. Maybe monarchflies were made by the pale king, either from regular lumaflies or from scratch? Or perhaps they just naturally spawned from him, like the ash in Kingdom's Edge.
Could they be the dead souls, spirits, memories or ghosts of the members of the moth tribe? Maybe even other bugs? Are they the eternal memories of lives long passed, shining the way for those still living, even if they do not know it?
why do the legeater's lumaflies not escape? there doesn't seem to be anything special about him as they are still there when he leaves is there something in that bulb that they feast on? but they don't seem to need food or maybe they do need food, and the bulbs are constructed to contain enough food inside for multiple lumafly generations at first, when the bulb is broken, the lumaflies escape, but eventually they come back to feed maybe they can't digest most types of food so they have to come back to the bulb eventually

I never realised how much they show up around Hallownest until this video, whoa

This is cool! Good video!!! I’d wonder if maybe they’re somehow related to Soul, seeing as both glow white (I think)?
