- Season 2 of The Witcher is shaping up to be pretty epic and we’ve got some info on what’s been up behind the scenes these past few years. While Henry Cavill has always done his own stunts on this show, you’ll be surprised the reason for his injury did not come from some fancy sword trick. But he does show us how the healing process went. We take a dive into the set for Kaer Morhen which took most of its inspiration from the video game. There are some cool weapons, a fancy new suit of armour, the same old wig but new, more painful methods to applying it, a ton of contact lenses, which, did you know they can be dangerous? Cavill is a huge fantasy nerd and so when he caught wind that The Witcher was happening, he jumped on the opportunity to audition. When he got the role, he brought all of his expertise with him and shaped his character going into season 2. Trust us, you’ll like him just a little better this season. The guy has incredibly long work days - so long it affected his workout routine and yet he managed to stay in shape and perform all those stunts himself. And the most exciting part, they brought a new VXF team on board. Can you guess which one? It should really help give this show a fighting edge. Maybe it will even take Netflix’s most watched title! (And pass Squid Game? Probably not). Season 2 is sure to bring a ton of new surprises, hopefully pleasing fans of the books, fans of the game, fans of both and fans of the show. Okay you can’t please everybody but they sure did their best, filming in the height of COVID.

You can tell there is a huge difference with the CGI, special effects, and lighting. Netflix definitely gave them a huger budget than season 1. It's way better.

I like that they’ve used that to their advantage in Season 1 (being completely self aware) and not letting the self-awareness falter. It’s a fun show and everyone I’ve introduced it to loves it regardless

I started to read the books right after i finish season2… the witcher 3 and the show was just to good to miss out that part
Who else said, "oh, I'll watch one episode a day and enjoy it for the week." Then hours later was looking at the season finale as the last to watch thinking, "fuck".

It will never be Game of Thrones because the entire story already exists so there will not be a HORRIBLE letdown, ruining the entire series like with GOT! They are adapting one of my favorite series from fantasy and it is already ALL THERE. It is brilliant.

S2 is much better than the first one. Pacing, effects, acting, etc.
the timeline was linear for one. It was much easier to follow. Season 1 I didnt even have a clue they were all on different timelines. I though Yennifer got her mage powers at the same time as ciri escaping which didnt add up to me. But yeah, this season felt much like the book and the video game which I think will get both demographics watching more. I really only care about Ciri. I want her just to become a witcher
Yet it deviates too much from the books, especially the relationship between Yen and Ciri. They changed it from a parental figure forming a bond with an adoptive daughter to an antagonizing one, Yen using Ciri for her own selfish purposes, which would never happen in the books, since they formed a warm loving relationship in the Temple of Melitele when Yen was mentoring Ciri on magic and teaching about life in general
@@evilTaker90V2 I read the books and played the games and i can say, as long as the series is good and its core elements are there (which they are) i don't care about deviations
it did not help that season 1 was all jumbled up so you never really know what was going on.
I come to Witcher completely unschooled in it. Season 2 was an improvement for me. Season 1 I enjoyed; the time jumps didn’t throw me that much; but there were just a lot more extended weird scenes in season 1. They tightened that up a lot. For example; if season 2 was season 1 would of had the tree Witcher (Askel?) banging the white for 8 minutes as he turned into an Evil Ent.
As much as I absolutely LOVE game of thrones I hope this show goes even further, it deserves it already!
I read the books and got immersed in the universe before they were "hip" and "cool". Are there things that are different than the books? Yes. Was I shellshocked when the show did things different than the books? Absolutely. Do I give a fuck? Why would I? If you love the books, read the books. If you want to treat games as cannon, go ahead and do that (Although the ending in the books fit the world that we were put in, I liked how the games continued the story). I read, played, and watched all I could and now I'm more than happy to consume a different story than there was in the books. Seeing Cintra, the golden dragon, Geralt helping with the strzyga (idk how it is called in english, foltest's daughter), those scenes reminded me of the time I used to read witcher as a kid. Just be happy for the ride and don't be so ass mad. And I won't lie, as a Polish person, I'm just happy that so many people are immersed in the universe that was created by a Polish person. It's just like the people who read LOTR and HP. The book readers were crying about the differences made in the movies, while people new to those worlds fell in love and got immersed into it, perhaps reading the books afterwards. People who care about the books will read the books, people who want to enjoy the show can enjoy the show. Just a while ago people were shitting on Sapkowski and saying how the games popularized his books, what do you think will happen after the show after so many people watch it? For many people it starts with a movie, show, maybe a game, and if they will want to see the books for what they are, they will.

It was clear it's going to be different even before the first season came out and people saw the cast. It's different, cool, get over it. Not the first and not the last time where an "adaptation" is not an adaptation.
Henry was the man we needed for this show to be great.

Of course the show is never going to be as huge as Game of Thrones was. But for what it is, and what is is based on, the actors are doing a tremendous job, and I applaud them.

Henry i didn't realize till now that you did a scene in episode of 3 of season 2 in Malham, at Goresdale scar , i go walking up there most weekends , I thought I recognized it. Its a great location. I've been fully enjoying season 2 . Such a great cast and you've all got great chemistry , it flows great all the way through. Love it , Enjoyed more than season 1 , Which was also brilliant. Will look forward to season 3 . So TheThings whens season 3 coming out . I'd so love to be a extra on the series . Great Series .

Nooo, they were filming in Slovakia, and where was I ??? My colleague and I discussed this even before filming the 2nd season that the cast would be here in Slovakia. But noone knew about the time and place... Now I am furious!!!

I have never watched Game of Thrones. I have watched all of season 1 of The Witcher and am 4 episodes in to season 2. Season 2 was only released 30 minutes before I started watching. Back to work tonight and complete watching season 2.

After finding out things that Henry Cavill has pushed for etc, I can see Henry possibly being a much bigger part of the scripting/directing etc for shows/movies similar to this since he's so passionate

Really enjoyed the first two seasons. It was a bit confusing to me in the beginning (I had never heard of it before and had no idea it was a game…I’m old! Lol). But I wanted to see it play out and eventually caught on.

In every actors life there is that one role that defines everything... Tom cruise in Mission impossible, pierce in 007, Margot in suicide squad and on and on... for him it wasnt superman... He is made for gerald with all of his heart ... or better ... Gerald is made for him.
It can never be GoT because no matter what people think of it, GoT changed TV, the Witcher wouldn't even been made if GoT didn't came along. But at the same time Henry Cavill is right it is it's own thing, people have to stop comparing the two just because they're fantasy stories. The Witcher has the potential to be a great show, period.

GoT changed TV??? GoT whas just a overhyped Mainstream kind of show... thats why anyone watched it... and people made memes out of it. Like Starwars and Marvel. i Find Got on the same level as Walking dead... Boring AF!. But when you have stuff that anyone want to watch you can sell anything as "good". See the New Starwars movies for example.
I think LOTR (the movies) made fantasy cool for mainstream audience. GoT just came out before The Witcher, totally by chance. Netflix would have bought the rights anyway, because The Witcher was already famous thanks to the videogames, and Netflix always tries to buy the rights for anything potentially appealing.

Love the comment on reducing swearing. It's like nudity. If you have the right story and depth, you don't need them. Yes I'm old fashioned but look at a lot of classics. They didn't need them either.

Yup if the story is right and has depth, sense and its not for simple tv viewer with avarage of 5seccond attention span, it doesnt need those things, but the problem is Netflix writers MADE SURE that season 2 has no good qualities i just mentioned.
Henry is right. Witcher will never be another GOT. Haven't seen all of GOT yet but so far Witcher has them beat. I like the humor in the story so much.

It's better than Game of Thrones because Henry Cavill is a better actor not to mention he is even better to look at than any actor in GOT. He is even better looking than Brad Pitt. Witcher is completely different. That's what makes it so great I'm totally hooked. I thought he was the perfect superman, but he is the Witcher. The female lead is incredible as well. What a transformation.

I am still a die hard GOT fan- up until like season 7...post battle of the bastards was tough to watch, but season 8 was abysmal. That being said, I think the witcher is going to be better. The books are all complete, way stronger fan base, and actors/writers/directors/etc that are truly fans of this show and wish for a truly adapted delivery over 7 seasons I think they said.

Not the next Game of Thrones but a more "MCU" version that is more accessible and fun than Game of Thrones. Most probably have a much better ending.
