- Leslye Headland talks some absolute nonsense in an interview from 2019 where she says George Lucas shouldn't be the only one holding the key to Star Wars and...well...watch for yourself.
Here's the video that my editor created for my IG pCtNjPs2vk...
We're trying to find the original source, and once he lets me know, I will update you with the full thing.
As always, keep comments respectful and let me know what you think of this absolute mockery.
I hope Lucasfilm and Disney will screen their workers a little better going forwards, I would hope that respecting George Lucas in some capacity would be mandatory if making millions (i assume) by playing in the sandbox he created and provided.
Thank you for watching today's video. I hope you have a great day, and I'll see you in the next one! May the force be with you, ALWAYS!

As a woman, there is nothing more insulting then when other women try call something misogynistic where it don't exist, while also ignoring real misogyny in other areas.
Right girl?! I'm like Ik you ain't talking.
Yeah especially with Star Wars where nearly all the women from Leia and Padme to Ahsoka and Ventress are all badasses.
They aren't feminist roles or Mary Sues and they aren't advocate roles for Pride or Feminists.
They're well written women that everyone loves.
@@arkangelgaming35 also, there are the games too, like in Knights of the Old Republic. The jedi Bastila Shan was a very well written character and much loved in these games. It is too bad that the Old Republic era has been so ignored (and instead we got the High Republic crap nobody asked for)
@@eddiedexx6713 Old Republic is full of issues that the High Republic is fixing.
That's the good thing about the new era.
But yes, even Bastila and Satelle are great characters in their own right.
@@arkangelgaming35 not really, High Republic is set around 300 before the films while Old Republic is set 4000 years before the films. not even in the same timeframe, not even close. High Republic is a lot closer to the film era while old republic is in the distant past.

"That's the misogyny." out of nowhere was hilarious 😂
That's how you can tell these people aren't even voicing their actual opinions, they're simply regurgitating nauseating talking points whispered into their ear by woke corporate overlords.
Don't have anything of actual substance to say? Just start shouting "MISOGYNY!" or "RACIST!", before very recently (thankfully ppl are beginning to wholeheartedly reject it), that's all it took for the mainstream to 100% get your back.
Having difficulty comprehending what that part even means
@@d4niel711She thinks Star Wars is inherently woman-hating. Somehow. "Somehow misogyny exists"
It really breaks my heart to see the person George trusted with his creative vision destroy it with such misguided intentions. He literally recommended a woman lol. How can that be misogyny? She is in charge. So sad that she has to destroy a culture that means so much to so many to prove a point that never needed proving 😢
Ah yes, the former personal assistant of Harvey Weinstein has more to say about morality and misogyny. Her being pushed as some kind of paragon for women always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Imagine all the women she let meet Weinstein
True!
I agree you don't work for someone like that and not quit immediately after knowing what he did
Pretty sure it wasn't as bad a taste as what the women she fed to Weinstein had.

Definitely not a Sith Lord. That takes power and skill.

I get what she’s saying - Lucas was the idea guy and the people around him executed those ideas largely, but this is the equivalent to saying your executive producer isn’t important. She would be out of a job in any sane world
This is what happens when you hire activists instead of artists.
Exactly and we all know it’s not just at Lucasfilm regardless it’s shameful to see this
Bingo
This. Exactly this
@@fcsimo yeah, it’s everywhere man. It’s in Music, Movies (with the rare exceptions like John Wick.) are all filled with activists. I watched a Joe Rogan Podcast interviewing Chad Stahelski talking about the John Wick movies and creating universes and stuff and it seems like Stahelski has a zero tolerance for activism and he is VERY adamant about his art and being surrounded by other artists and THAT is why the John Wick movies are so successful and so successful they’re making a John Wick 5 and probably 6 if 5 makes over 500 million or 600 million lol
The new Hollywood does not care about quality, they just want to check their boxes off on diversity and all the other political BS. What they keep getting wrong is that quality products will always be popular and that’s how people progress. We didn’t love Leia because she was a woman or because Lando was black. We loved those characters because they connected with the audience, and they happened to be a women and a black man. The new Hollywood does it the opposite as they try to push their agenda without putting out a great product, and then call out that same audience as misogynistic or racist if they don’t like it.
Saying Star Wars is misogynistic when Leslie was the assistant to one of the most blatant and out in the open abusers of women in her industry is CRAZY. What the hell are they doing over there
Exactly, she was literally Harvey Weinstein's personal assistant, and yet Disney just gives her a show. UNREAL!
Yip I wonder how many women she led to that SoB’s office …
Just remember back in the mid 90’s, Disney was working with the Weinstein brother’s film studio.
Both have a lot skeletons in the closet.
"Misongyny bad, misandry good." -Disney Executives
I had absolutely no interest in this woman's show. This interview has only cemented that lack of interest.
George hired Ralph Mquarrie to illustrate as he wrote the script. He hired John Barrie and myself direct after meeting us in Mexico. He hired every actor. Himself!!!
George is more than some guy who chose the right people. Just look at John Williams sountracks to movies. He is great in all of them, but usually only one or two tracks in those movies are iconic. In Star Wars near half the album is iconic. Also, many of the same people that worked with George worked on the sequels and we know even from a design point of view Sequel stuff was bland at best and drab at worst.
Speaking of misogyny, I bet Leslie knows all the women that she let see Harvey weinstein. Respectfully.

Idk what’s worse… her ego or the fact that she was probably hired because she has these thoughts and opinions.
Gets hired by Star Wars....proceeds to take a huge dump on Star Wars
That's what turned me off to Disney's Star Wars more than anything else. I can't remember which show it was, but there was a big announcement at a con a couple of years ago and Kathleen Kennedy's big news was... it's a female led director, writer. No details at all, not even a title. Just "hey these are women!" -- that's when I gave up hope on any long term Disney Star Wars success under Kennedy. It's such a shame to see such a beloved franchise fall in flames because of some misguided sense of justice.
@@ChunkyJo tell me you're a red pill alpha male ultra giga chad without openly saying it... have you considered that there might be some people who DO get excited to see a female director in an IP they enjoy?
It's just verbal diarrhoea from her. And there is plenty of SW content not directly from George Lucas.
@@BlackOpMercyGaming they should be excited for high quality film makers not gender based decision making.

Lesley is so arrogant. My gosh. Saying that anyone who would be excited for GEORGE LUCAS to walk into a room is misogynistic towards her...I mean, she's admitting to herself not being excited to see him. Not only that, she is PISSED that he's there to "take away her spotlight."
Fuck that mentality man. George doesn't walk on water, and he can't save our souls from damnation...but he's absolutely an incredible visionary, and meeting him would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the vast majority of us.

How crazy would it be, if Feloni teasing us Thrawn for the movie, but the true villian is Darth Jar jar 🤣🤣

TRUE
Ironically the best female characters were the ones George and Dave created. Good stories can only be told when there is no agenda, because when there is it just becomes obnoxiously obvious
That was back when female characters complemented male characters well instead of obnoxiously trying to put men down for no reason. Ahsoka and Princess Leia are badass but so are the men around them unlike Rey where she's so awesome and all the men around her are incompetent fools.
Ironically they created female characters by viewing them as real people vs political statements like Kathleen Kennedy and her female writers have.
The only agenda should be telling an amazing or at least a good, story and giving that story great characters.
Also the ones Chris Avellon created like Bastilla Mission Vao List goes on

The prequels aren't very good by any means, but they're enjoyable for sure
LOTR (Galadriel, Arwen, Eowyn) Kill Bill, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Alien... just a couple of movies with "strong independent female characters" that most men liked. They literally just want to ruin anything that was good, and blame it on some idea they made up.
The prequels aged like fine wine btw.
Star Wars is anything but misogynistic. It has had strong female characters since 1977 with the introduction of a highly competent and heroic Princess Leia. Star Wars has never had any bias, whether racial or gender related. It's literally one of the most inclusive properties that exists. What is this woman talking about? This makes me think she doesnt truly understand Star Wars and makes me worried for her project...
Just to be honest part of it is women part of it is people. Women claim misogyny when they don't get what they want. That's simple. Like a child throwing a tantrum.
Facts, there was even a gay character written in the star wars comics
Literally Leia was the original strong female character, and still basically the only example of one done right in Hollywood.
Even with movies that didn't gain a lot of money at the Box Office or weren't "particularly" written well had very good female characters. Solo a star wars story for me had very few good parts, good intention and potential but Emilia Clarke's Qira role was front and center. Shame they didn't pick up on that. What I wouldn't give for a Qira and the war of the crime syndicates disney plus story. That would be a good show with a strong female character that if they write it well could be very beneficial for the brand.

That's impressive Leslie, the mental gymnastics it takes to say that George Lucas isn't the key holder to his own franchise is impressive.
Her mental gymnastics are mind numbing
The arrogance is off the charts. Higher than Anakin's Midichlorian count!
The real mental gymnastics is assuming this was a diss with no context. It's very easy to make sense of why someone like this has been hired, yes, considering the artistic world has been poisoned by activists and ideologues. The world lost its mind in 2016.
Nobody that gets hired to do anything star wars should have this attitude. Honestly what it takes is 3 things:
1. Respect and know the lore that George created in and out.
2. Be extrordinarily excited to be part of this massive franchise and be excited to deliver to old and new fans.
3. LOVE STAR WARS!!!
That’s an awesome standard. But the problem is that there are some who have all three qualities, and have one more. Injecting their political or social views into the story.
@@Chosen_one_501 star wars has always been political. Thats not the issue. For example i thought andor was great because of it.

@@folkvarwolfwind sorry I guess I phrased it wrong. Yes, Star Wars has always been political, but the politics were timeless. Like little rebellion vs larger empire. Or corrupt governments turning into dictatorships. Those political topics are just general things with a Star Wars skin. On the subject of Disney, the last time we went to Disney, it was like being in a foreign country that didn't care for tourist or visitors that comes there.
I would love to see her create a story that spawned a billion dollar franchise. Also she wouldn't even have a job today if it wasn't for his work.
Please she have no idea what she even talks about she was brainwashed by propaganda and now she is spewing this nonsense everywhere she can... this people hardly create something but when it comes to destruction and chaos they are perfect at it.
Well, she has a job not because of Star Wars, but because of their agenda and how she aligns with it.
If Star Wars wouldn't exist, Disney would have aquired another beloved franchise to crap on it and use it try to spread their agenda.
She doesn't care about Star Wars, at all, that's more than clear.
This is the exact same problem with Lord of the Rings, Witcher, Halo, etc right now. We're in this shitty time period where instead of creating with the vision of the creator, they're hijacking their creations to push political ideologies and personal ideals.
I would say only for western ip, which halo, star wars, terminators, ghost buster, marvel in some cases, etc as eastern properties like gundam/ anime and other products are fine. But again thats due to them focuse on storytelling, making money, not insulting their customer base, and arent focuse on pushing agenda front and centered. Add with fact sequels/ prequels and reboots seem to be main norm as well for the west especially with things like star wars with sequels/ halo with infinite.
Sucks for west as this will take years fix
Pushing of ideals and politics is only a Fassade, it’s all about profit right now. These movies won’t hold up in longevity. Disney is just riding the internet trend of the current time cashing in on it. It’s al greed and complete unartistic BS
It would take a generation or 2 to improve western IPs or entertainment . Meanwhile, Anime & Manga is making💰💰 😂

the issue with these directors is they see themselves as like visionaries who are changing the game. she makes it sound like this is like what’s she’s saying he more important than it is
Reminds me of The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power showrunners who said something along the line, "We are telling a story that Tolkien wanted to write but never did". Off course Lucas holds the key to Star Wars, it's not just about the story and the lore but his sensibility, his humour, his philosophy.
Exactly the same. It’s like they had the same teacher
This just displays the utter hubris and creative bankruptcy of modern Hollywood. They could never dream of achieving the creative heights of someone like George Lucas, so their only option is to tear him down. It’s a mentality that now plagues every major franchise.
They do dream of it, they just don’t want to put in the ground-level effort it takes or acknowledge that there is an unpredictable element of timing and luck/fortune to get that boost. Therefore they jump onto the existing “platforms” and start pushing the (insert current-moment evil -ism/-ist) out so they can stand tall above it in a pyrrhic “victory”.
@@JoRoq1 agreed. The fans and the art itself are the casualties of the pyrrhic war.
Imo, instead of making the Acolyte , why not she just go create another , original project that maybe star wars like. But oh yeah, these Hollywood types have no creativity or original ideas
Couldn't have said it better myself.
This wasn’t a diss, it was a segment about Ralph McQuarrie and the unfortunate reality that people tend to forget smaller creatives’ mark on a project. Context matters
Prequels eclipse any movie Disney has done for the exception of Rouge One
I don't even want to see the mess they created in that environment.
Disney has done, and will continue to do, so much damage to Star Wars as a whole it's wild. Even with some of the good they've done, it's just mind boggling how they keep finding people who just don't seem to really care about Star Wars or George's vision for it. What a shame...
Disney is where great franchises go to die.
Disney may be a small problem for star wars but the real reason star wars has been in decline is because of Kathleen Kennedy. She has been in charge of Star Wars since Disney bought it. So Kathleen Kennedy is the real enemy of Star wars
@IamChalker And they get paid. They make money off of disliking something. I will never understand that. If a person wants to bash, let's say McDonalds. That's fine. But don't be on the payroll. That's disingenuous.

There's no 'Some of the good they've done'
The only 'good' they've done is allow Dave Filoni to do his thing, and that's only after setting him back countless times. And Jon came on the scene, but then it became the same thing all over again: Jon trying to make good content and Disney constantly setting him back.
They haven't done any good, only bad. It's the remaining Lucasfilm crew (the real one) that's doing the good, while Disney dishes out the bad.
Thank you for defending Star Wars against the Disney Empire
“ IRONIC “
Disney plays the pirate role more than anything. They stole the franchise lol

This is why I tapped out round 2017/18. I understand business wise you can’t turn your back on your bread and butter; but it was a great decision for myself to just not watch anymore.
Apparently the clip is cut together from multiple segments of the interview and is missing a bit of context.
In the full interview, she goes on about how she thinks people do not give enough credit to how McQuarrie's art influenced how Lucas was telling the story in the original movie, and say that Star Wars is pure Lucas in all aspects.
I still have no idea how she managed to sneak in the misogyny bit though, I guess that is just standard for her (and strange, coming from someone who worked for Harvey Weinstein, probably the biggest figure of misogyny in Hollywood)
There is NO WAY this “woman” didn’t know about what her boss was doing. She was definitely turning a blind eye to it to protect her own career.
She spent years covering for a disgusting mysogynist and helping him to abuse women. She should be in jail along with him, not employed at Disney in any capacity.
Is she a woman or just nc steve with long hair.
What happened?
@@emcash7042 She was an assistand to Weinstein....so if we're talking about exploiting and doing bad stuff to women....she was well into that !
Why is "woman" in quotes though? Why can't you just keep the criticism legitimate?
I really respect her honestly. She gave me a really good warning that the Acolyte is gonna be hot garbage 😹😹😹
Dumpster fire, for real
I am strongly leaning towards boycotting her show. I expect to be utterly disappointed, if not outright infuriated.
The irony of Disney buying Lucasfilm and Marvel because they needed "boy" IP to balance out their princess stuff.
i gotta say, although i do largely get what you're saying i do feel theres somthing i feel alot of people miss here, i mean dont get me wrong, George, yes, he created and came up with, and it started as his vision, the more i delve into this the more i see him put on this kind of pedestal, i think people forget that it WASNT just geroge he had a whole team of writes, artists editors and everything that comes with the film making prosess and i think that people undersell or neglect how fluid his vision/plan was at the time was and neglect the influence the writers editors, ect had on the overall star wars universe largely atributing it ALL to geroge
i mean we saw this in the prequals for example, and again, dont get me wrong i do love the prequals, i think they're fun, entertaining and do add to the universe as a whole, but its pretty clear that geroge had too much control, no one really questioned him all that much and it made for a worse film, and agian, i do enjoy the prequals, but they're just not on the same level as the OT imo
long story short, film making is a cooprative effort and it takes more than just one man to properly realize what became a colective vision of all those involved
(plus, i feel this goes without saying really, but yes, all this stuff about misogyany and what not is a lot of bollocks)
Here’s the bottom line: George created this IP nobody knows George’s creation better than him. Some people can try really hard to emulate George’s work, but ultimately George “holds the key”
I'm cancelling Disney Plus after Ahsoka. This is outright despicable. This man has given them everything and they trash him time and time again. I'm sorry but this was the final straw for me. I'm watching Ahsoka and then I'm done. I'm done giving this company money they don't deserve.
Don’t even give them the time of day to watch ahsoka Disney is dead and we as the American ppl need to let it die
Lol if you feel this strongly about not giving Disney a single penny, wouldn’t you just cancel now?
Your money ain’t changing shit for them
Dude, they dropped the ball with an Obi Wan friggin Kenobi Show. Dont even watch Ahsoka. Its gonna be trash.
I already cancelled it.
She is not able to express herself!
Disney's not listening to the Lucas Brand Star Wars Community, so we will have to boycott all "Woke Wars" products and productions and, if necessary, cancel Disney subscriptions. No more ticket sales, no more toys, no more Legos..
Hang in there, Theory. There are thousands of us who are grateful for your voice and platform, what you have to say, and agree with you. You remind us we’re not alone in being frustrated and saddened at the way Star Wars is often mishandled nowadays. Hopefully soon there will be brighter days for Star Wars with storytelling that is respectful of the IP.
Thousands? The guy has 3 million subscribers. If half of those are haters, that still leaves a million fans having his back!
When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was gonna be a story about how Disney decided to CGI Gina Carano and did a really fucked up job of it 😅
Right?? Her face looks like someone smushed it together 🤣
I thought the exact same thing!😂
Yep, that’s a picture of a woman that wants to look like a man, rather than a Strong Independent Woman like Gina Carano.
Me to! 😂
I thought the EXACT same thing! But then again, it’s not even alarming to think that Disney WOULD do something like that.
She literally made 0 sense in her whole first 90 seconds of talking, "the creator doesn't know everything about his own creation" is where I clocked out mentally. That just sounds categorically stupid.
The leaks for the Acolyte make it sound that abysmal .
What people like KK and Leslie Headland REALLY want is complete and total credit for George's creation, to say that "WE created Star Wars, NOT him!"
Exactly!
Dude, no. Just stop. No one is saying that. They just want credit for THEIR Star Wars projects. She's the creator of The Acolyte, not George Lucas. Stop putting words in their mouth.

I love the originals, and I love the prequel’s. Faults and all. The creator absolutely holds the key to the universe. Forgetting that is forgetting your history. This corporate dumpster fire needs to finish burning.
the second George Lucas sold star wars to disney, he sold the mf key as well 😅
@@hollingsworthnoa Disney Star Wars sucks though...😂 Too bad they can't buy some talented writers...
True. They make too many mistakes.
Andor is their saving grace. Mando for the first two seasons; by season 3 it's way too tired, formulaic. Rouge One maybe too.
I will respectfully boycott the acolyte
Wow man, what a great video. My respect for you has increased tremendously. That last part about being respectful in your critizism is a really important trait that should be implemented in not just star wars, but also all endeavors across the world. Be kind, don’t insult people and only use facts and intelligence to win arguments. That way we Will prosper and have a vetter world. Cheers from Sweden!🇸🇪

It’s funny that this quote itself is a corrupted / ruined version of something Tolkien said, and so often misattributed to him too

She can hate the prequels all she wants
But she undoes her statement because it was George who hired the people for the OT. He's not just the director, he was producer and hiring manager
He's Him
Keep your low IQ mind away from his work if you refuse to acknowledge his efforts.
We dont praise him cuz we were told to; we understand the difficulties. Even after the sequels, we're still here
A worthy statement. I hate her so much
also it's cheeky for someone associated with Disney Star Wars to throw out the prequels as examples of bad Star Wars, when Disney made something called The Rise of Skywalker and Solo.
Hi sir, i just started watching your channel a few weeks ago, and it is amazing! the heart you have for it is quite refreshing, and i am so glad you are advocating for the true star wars, and respectfully arguing your points. Thank you so much for all you are doing for Star Wars, it needs people like you to keep it going. I'd be right there with you making CZcams videos and other things, but i am not good with words, which is unfortunate. I started my Star Wars journey almost 10 years ago when i was 6, and i just wish i had a moment when i was growing up where I was like WOW This new star wars movie is great, now some have been good, but not the same level as the ogs, maybe I'll have that some day, but it is looking less likely by the minute. Anyways, i hope you read this, keep up your amazing work, thank you so much again, for all the work you do and the heart you have for Star Wars.
A lot of people don't like you sharing your opinions, but I think you are very much correct.
Keep calling out these fraudulent liars! Love your realism to Star Wars
I'm a woman. I've never felt that Star Wars was like that. George Lucas deserves that respect he gets when he comes into a room. Heck I would stand if he came in a room. I'm 27 now, and I remember watching the Prequals and adored them and still do. The actual story of Star Wars is ALL I care about. Keep agenda's out, I want a GREAT star Wars story even if it takes them years to get done. I'm known in my workplace as the Star Wars Nerd... Haha.
Same, the Prequels were my childhood and when I watched the OT for the first time it was like a fairytale. I have a lot of respect for George and very little for those who disrespect him to push their own ego.
I love the prequels as well, and I love George Lucas, but the prequels are objectively not very good movies (they aren't terrible by any means, just not great), and that's mostly thanks to Lucas' directing
@@milesbaillie1011To be fair, A New Hope was directed by Lucas. It’s not that he was a bad director, he just had a bunch of yes men at that time due to how big he was. No one wanted to say no to George Lucas.
Love the Username!
@@gmansgnarlyscienceshow2820 Richard Marquand was barely involved with Jedi, so Lucas did much of the directing on episode VI.

"her ego is literally the size of the deathstar" that made me chuckle
The absolute *BALLS* on this lady. This just killed any excitement I had for the Acolyte because if she's behind it, it's going to be a complete *DUMPSTER FIRE*. RIP Star Wars. Dune is looking pretty good right now.
I love your content SWT, I can’t finish this video because that fridge faces audio makes me cringe. Keep up the good work.
Imagine if directors at the Walt Disney animation studio spent their time saying Walt was no genius, Walt was an idiot...m
Bro all of her interviews are like this. They/Them is crazy af lmao. Do NOT get your hopes up for Acolyte, she literally stated that the whole goal of the show is to “highlight queer identities”.
yikes
This has Queer Theory of Intersectional Marxism all over it.
Makes it easier for me to avoid something when the entire idea is just "WOKE EVERYTHING!" lmao
Man I remember Star Wars was all about going on adventures and exploring the mysteries of the force
Yaaaay, gay Sith. Thats what we needed...
“Not for the person who is going to know to hire Ralph McQuarrie” - that was literally George Lucas. Who does she think hired everyone and green light everything before Disney?
The producer of Star Wars Gary Kurtz.
An auteur is a term used for a film director with a particular artistic expression. In this way of thinking, the auteur is an artist who manages to put his own personal stamp on the films he makes, whereas a so-called metteur-en-scene arranges himself and his film art according to applicable norms and conventions.
They are so caught up with the franchise being around Luke and Vader that they forgot about the strong female rolls, and the females that helped build lucasfilm special fx studios
Personally think I’m done with Disney SW. Their customer relations is ass, their president keeps running the IP into the ground, and they've churned out more garbage than quality. I'll stick with the first six episodes and the original, REAL expanded universe.
Plus Rogue One and Andor ;)
