  • Hey guys!
So I went on to the streets of Melbourne to find out how much Australians know about India.
It was so much fun making this video and meeting these new people who volunteered to answer to basic questions about INDIA.🇮🇳
P.S. the question about national language should have actually been ‘ the most spoken language’ 😊

Vast amount of Indian population is uneducated. If you google the total population of Africa and then google the total gdp of Africa it would amount to close to India's gdp. Also if you google total population of South America which include brazil, argentina etx, it is less than India, but still its gdp is more than India. Bro... Urdu, Hindavi or Rekhta is Indian, Urdu, like Hindi, is a form of the Hindustani language. Some linguists have suggested that the earliest forms of Urdu evolved from the medieval (6th to 13th century) Apabhraṃśa register of the preceding Shauraseni language, a Middle Indo-Aryan language that is also the ancestor of other modern Indo-Aryan languages. In the Delhi region of India, the native language was Khariboli, whose earliest form is known as Old Hindi (or Hindavi). It belongs to the Western Hindi group of the Central Indo-Aryan languages. The contact of Hindu and Muslim cultures during the period of Islamic conquests in the Indian subcontinent (12th to 16th centuries) led to the development of Hindustani as a product of a composite Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb.

And if further pushed, most will also say - yes, sadly, 'poverty' (although they would usually avoid saying this 'on-camera' because it looks impolite)! These are the words that usually come to their minds, when you say 'India'. Just goes to show how far India has to go in terms of making any real imprint in the world in terms of positive soft power. And yet, we Indians like to live in this make-believe world of our own where we think we are some sort of 'super-power'.

We Indians think we are the 'centre of the universe' - sadly very much a 'frog in the well' attitude.
I recall during the last UP State election, both Modi and Yogi Adityanath repeatedly stated in their election speeches that 'UP is now such and advanced & developed state, that Americans and Japanese are coming to UP study how UP became so developed so that they can implement the UP model in their own countries'! Incredibly, the masses of the UP population actually believed this nonsense, and would cheer loudly whenever they stated this in their speeches!

Well every indian languages originated in India only. Hindi is not the linguistics identity of India. Even after promoting it for 60 years people don't feel it is. And there are more non Hindi speakers in India than Hindi speakers. So using the tax money of all people to promote a language of a small share of people is so stupid. May be because it is your language u feel connected. That's not the case with everybody.
