I visited New Zealand as a traveler in 1983 ( I’m a French born British national converted to Sikhism and married to a Sikh lady) Now settled in Chandigarh and doing organic farming near Ropar .I tasted Indian food in a restaurant called Ashiana in Auckland , but this place is amazing, food and garden. I will definitely visit this place if I get the opportunity to visit New Zealand once again. Todd’s Hindi is amazing . , we need more people like him to bring more tolerance in this thiincreasingly polarised world, SAT SRI AKAL, SALAM SHALOM SHANTI from Raza Organic Farm. Often called Angrez ka farm .

Great seeing Manisha Ji having authentic and yummy Indian food in beautiful Hamilton NZ,which by the way the aerial views of Hamilton as well as of the Mughal Garden are SENSATIONAL, so glad you put in english subtitles when Manisha Ji and your friend Todd talk in Hindi,😂 as for the Indian music I may not be East Indian, but being part American Indian* may be the reason why I love Indian music, like the ads that pop up here with some Indian pop song. Jai Hind Karl Ji, 👍and greetings 👋from central Mexico.
    * I once read in an edition of NatGeo that the people of Assam are of the same bronze color and physical features as my American Indian ancestors, so maybe that's why I like Indian stuff.😊

Coexistence in peace, thy name is Bharat. Karl is much more Bharatiya than many of us desis can ever claim to be.

It is hard to live abroad , especially in countries like these where the constant hustle and bustle and noise is absent. It feels like the world has come to a startling stop and definitely takes a while to get accustomed. It is also very hard to meet or just casually start a conversation with people in a country like New Zealand, where population is sparse compared to India.
As a fellow Indian living abroad I can understand the feeling of being away from home, but Karl is our inspiration of how one can fit in and become one with a totally different setting , change peoples minds and find home once again with entirely different people.

The concept of an Indian restaurant is commercially westernised. I am Tamil, our cuisine is different much more similar to southeast Asian curry. We use tamarind, mango and coconut which isn't used in Hindustani food much. Moreover their food uses ghee and nuts.

I lived in New Zealand until 1985. During that time the only Indian restaurant in Auckland was Ashiana and Raj Bombay take away. When I returned after 25 years, I visited an Indian restaurant specialising in Dosa and a punjabi restaurant near the Tower. The food was sublime. Also saw an indian take away near green valley and a few srilankan shops.
When I visited Wellington, I observed a chain known as Namaste, and a few indian food outlets in food halls. It was amazing to see so many indian restaurants.
