He isn’t in the audience, he has to be on the set. If you go back and listen to previous shows, or pay attention to future shows, you’ll hear that laugh every monologue.
I don’t want to believe it’s a laugh track, since they show the audience from time to time, but I find his laugh distracting, if only because it stands out every night, and reminds me of the days of canned laughter:/

Pretty sure its colberts son. Same laugh from when he started doing his shows from home and his son helped him with the camerawork etc. His son started laughing at his jokes in the monologue and I'm pretty sure when the show went back to the studio, his son started coming in. Maybe he plays a role in the writing of said monologue? That's the assumption that I've been under.

Twitter is being used as a case study in universities around the world right now. I’m using it in my business management classes and it’s great because every day, there’s a shining new example of what not to do.
What is truly mind-boggling is anybody who has ever done software development, social media work, worked in advertisements, dealt with engagment algorithms, or even online moderation before knew precisely where this was going to go! and what was amazing to me especially:
The nerds who love Elon... (Who apparently come from some of those jobs) were still saying he was doing a good job even as Twitter continued to descend into unfettered confusion where even general engagement was breaking down...
They still kept telling me I simply "wasn't smart enough" to get it.
Before the disaster, blue check marks were trying to explain to him how bad this was by changing their name to Elon Musk and posting things he wouldn't. He didn't get it. He just banned them all (even after saying he wouldn't if they had parody in their name).
After the disaster, watching him waffle on the grey checks was such nonsense.
But the nerds are still crowing how it's all part of the plan. What plan? 💀
