    When you get over 45, Presbyopia kicks in, "a visual condition which becomes apparent especially in middle age and in which loss of elasticity of the lens of the eye causes defective accommodation and inability to focus sharply for near vision(Websters)". It needs a some way of adjusting it's focal length, however, the screen is pretty sweet. . Thanks Stew.

    Great thank for confirming I made a good decision. I took the plunge and ordered these last night (my first fpv goggle). Disappointed about the lack of DVR but I think when you have a HDMI input you may not be able to record due to copyright restrictions. The HDMI input means I can use it on the PC so that was what sold it for me.

    Stew - Just a thought, when you review goggles, could you give us an estimate of how far away the screen looks when you are wearing them?
    It could make it far easier for people with less than perfect vision to work out what would work for them without having to modify them or add extra lenses.
    For example, I just tried out my Attitude V2s and I estimate they have a focal length of around 1m. My eyes are fine at 1m, but my short sighted girlfriend can't use them.

    i ended up ordering these based on yours and a few other reviews. i chose these over Fatshark HD3 and Skyview 02's becsuse I am a casual flyyer with a Phantom4 and wanted actual HD video and 5.8 capability for my other quads. The Fatsharks and the Skyzones may offer hdmi input but it's not an hd image to your eyeballs. This is my 1st fpv device. figured i'd start small. Thanks for the review.

    Looking at these and they are great for "all-in-one" solution (apart from lack of DVR). However you just can't beat Quanum V2 Pros - "real" lenses (3 of 'em!) and ability to adjust focus along with a choice of any receiver you like :)

Then the flysky arrived and a week later the rtf package arrived. So I got a free flysky i6.

    There is a mod for box style goggles (for old people) that involves gluing some reading glasses (minus the side frames) onto the inside sides of the goggle just near the fresnel lens (being careful not to get any glue on the fresnel). The uploader of the video about it had #2 magnification glasses for the mod I think. You have to stick the glasses in perfectly straight, along the center of the fresnel. Even if you could wear glasses on a box style goggle, this would be more accurate than wearing glasses. But most goggles won't accommodate glasses worn, so the mod solves that problem. (They all accommodate glasses, but not glasses worn.) lol

    I bought these as an upgrade to my eachine 800s because of this review. After using them for about 6 months I have to ask, what were you smoking when you reviewed these stew? These things are absolutely terrible compared to the 800 in every category other than comfort. Most notably they have atrocious reception and drop signal constantly over a distance of less than 150 feet, and the drops during diversity switch are horribly noticeable. The ev800 absolutely smokes these in terms of reception and image clarity, and theyre like a 1/3 of the price

    I got one of these after a longggggg wait and I noticed light leaking from the straps side holes but I patched them up with black electrical tape no worries. The battery strap and battery needs some silicon or friction tape to be secured for my purpose. I think these are not 1080 native, more like 720 or less display full HD

    • @Anonymous9683
      @Anonymous9683 Před 7 lety

      Good free simulators:
      Hotprops on Mattystuntz settings (ask me if you're confused about what this means)
      DRL simulator - maybe makes flying too easy but the quality is amazing, huge tracks, neon lights and stuff like that. If you get this one, make sure you tick Raw Input in the controller settings to avoid a dead zone around centre sticks.
      My favourite is DRL cause it's so polished and I love the tracks.

  • @DirkaDirka07

    Were you able to confirm the specs on the display? ie, that it is true 1080p? Also, do you know what the refresh rate is and what tech it uses (IPS?) What about latency? These about check all the boxes that I was looking for now that it has HDMI input. (looking for something I could use with my DJI P3P w/HDMI output module) It's a real shame that they overlooked a basic feature like FOCUS!

    • @FerralVideo
      @FerralVideo Před 7 lety +1

      To answer your question, YES! These support genuine 1080p! I use mine as an HMD for my PC sometimes. They don't work well on nVidia video cards for some reason ...
      Latency: *Edit: Updated! FPV mode: There are faster responding goggles on the market. That said, my severe lack of skills causes far more problems than the DSP upconversion lag ever can. :P I wouldn't consider the latency a dealbreaker. Once I'm in the groove, I don't even notice it. In HDMI mode they seem about as laggy as any average TN LCD monitor. As in, barely any at all.
      Focus: I'm slightly farsighted, and I can't see the pixels, but the goggles are still perfectly usable for me. I think I'm at the limit for their focal range without eye strain problems.

    These are really great goggles. I own these and i like them. They work great and i HACKED in a dvr. They fit cheap bendable reading glasses metal frame type easily. With a good Pagoda antenna on them they get really great reception But NO! power off on low BAT warning Just blackness and crash. . I want a pair of Fat sharks or Commanders, only for the size and ease of transport. . The battery thing is a big deal and something that you need to watch for

    I have some newbie question. :) Is there need to have putted antennas on when using them at HDMI(simulators)? I'm not asking this for better image, reception.. ;) just for safety of goggles cos I see at some quads or controllers that is need to put antennas first before you connect battery on, that you don't damage(burn) drone/controller?

    Hello, it's first time to write reply of your review. It's pretty much good reviews for me. But i have got a question for these goggle coz i'm considering to buy it now. It's built in the 1080p display. If i connect with pc which can support the 1080p. As you know i can see the 1080p video in these goggle. My question is "if i use the 1200tvl (this is close to 720p) camera in my quad with 5.8g vtx, can i get 720p resolution?! If it is possible, i think 1200tvl camera and this goggle comb. Is best choice for upgrade resolution because fatshark and other goggle dispaly resolution is sd(800x600(480)pix). If it is not true, these goggle is only advantage for hdmi video input and fpv video is only support the sd resolution. Thanks for listening and plz give this answer for me. Happy flying!

    Hi UAVfutures! Could you please compare this goggle with the new FXT VIPER GOGGLE? For both you mentioned they are the best box goggles :). What do you think about the image quality, reception etc. ? (except the DVR) Thanks!

    Would you recommend these over the Kylin vision (now JJPRO) for somebody getting their first quad. Worth the difference in price? Would there be any compatibility issues with the Wizard x220? and lastly which you do think would be better for somebody with a really big head lol.

      I am personally still going to go with JJPRO for $60 over these.

    I own these and they're very good goggles for what they are they have excellent picture quality,widescreen format and a very immersive feel as well.. The biggest downside and the one flaw that he never mentioned is that the antennas are extremely fragile..so fragile in fact that it took me to re solder the edge mount pcb rp-sma connector2 times! One for each antenna it seriously broke and will break from the slightest bump. It's works fine afterwards but unless you have the soldering techniques "and the patience" to repair them DO NOT BUY THEM! You most definitely will break them and it's not a matter of "if" but when.. I will say tho after the fact and the modifications I made I love them but, do anticipate the repairs/modification...
