A new super compact epg from Multipick. What do you think? Let me know in the comments! đ
i noticed that too...
one more con sound level its a bit loud, and the lack of a power adjustment to prevent damage to locks or tips.
@@madcapmagician6018 thatâs not how these tools work
I have the Wendt it is one of my favorite tools.
That's got to be the best looking epg I have seen. I like that it's so compact and as you say doesn't diminish from its power. Beautiful quality product as you would expect from Multipick.
Price is very high but again what you would expect to pay from Multipick and the fact that it's aimed at the professional market.
Would I like one, Yes!
Would I buy one, No!
I guess as a hobby picker it's something you would just get out to play with on some locks from time to time so, far too expensive for that.
As we've come to expect from you a fantastic honest review. đđđ»
Someday after I win a lottery, I'm going to buy a huge load of multipick products. In the meantime, funny you compared it to a toothbrush, that's exactly what I made mine out of. $14.95 Canadian and some extensive modification. It doesn't have as much range of movement (the tip moves about 3mm up and down) but it is very rapid, and works on some schlage and kwikset cylinders as well as cheaper padlocks. Much better than the manual pick gun I have (spring loaded, you squeeze it till the spring snaps the pick upward). That thing...well it works, but it's bulky, ugly, loud, awkward, and very slow.
As a bonus the toothbrush is "covert" since it's an actual toothbrush, just take the pick out and stick a new brush head on it, and store the pick in the battery compartment.
That's a very cool idea.
@@penfold7800 It wasn't mine originally. Someone else on utube lockpicking videos ( I forget who) thought of it, I just took his idea and made one.
yes, but my mind didn't go straight to an electric toothbrush, I was worried his wife would steal it.... for you know what (good vibrations !!)
Thanks for the review - being a aspiring professional we tend to purchase quality tools yes . Some tend to spend more for posh tools and bragging rights. At the end of the day itâs a tool to get a job done and make a return on investment. I think the compact design is glorious and I hope others adopt that - I really would love to see a storage case that you could keep a common tip mounted and swap out as required. Fumbling to load a tip is just unnecessary especially if your out in the elements.
Cheers
It's Multipick, so no doubt over the build quality. Fantastic demo Ash, great tool for the lockies. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Great review Ash, very nice tool sir. Congratulations đđđđŸ on your Hundred thousand subscribers buddy, stay safe stay healthy my friend.
Hello Bill my friend great too see a comment from let's me know your doing fine ..enjoy the nice weather I sending you next week..lol đ
@@lmars5933 Hello Suncoast my friend.
Nice and honest review, thank you very much đ these EPGs have quite some fascination to them and with this beautiful look it is a real cool product. That said,I completely agree with you and would not buy one as a hobbyist, especially with that price. No I will stick to good old SPP, maybe add some EPG sound effects when I have to focus on the lock and can't talk anyhow đđ
P.s.: Congratulations on passing 100k subscribers, really awesome and well earned!!
Very cool ash mate still more fun still single pin picking also congratulations my friend what a legend 100000 subs well deserved
You have put so much work into your channel and videosđđđđđŹđ§
100k well done my friend
Great review Ash my friend! the tool looks very nice! thanks for showing and test it ;o)))
Thanks Tallan!!
I used to be a big fan of multipick products, I still have one of their original EPGs which was awesome once you understood it, and it's a shame a lot of locksmiths did not it used a special pick blade which multipick no longer produce, so it became obsolete.
They then produced the MHP which was excellent and finally the MHP 11 which was a tool aimed at locksmiths and was awesome, mine gave up the ghost at about a month after the guarantee ran out.
Then the Kronos came along which was purely aimed at the lock sport community, and it came at a price, this latest offering is again pricy and aimed at the lock sport community. Learn to SPP is a better option for a locksmith or get a decent set of bump keys. Multipick products are good but not worth the money IMO, and they don't like returns.
Looks like a smaller version of the Kronos
About the same price too.
Great review my friend đ seems to be a little aggressive but for locksmiths in and out I would say it's a keeper..đđ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ
The trademark tension tool bounce thatâs caught you some criticism from comment âexpertsâ in the past works really well with epgs. Congrats on 100k Ash.
Ah, you noticed! Yes, I try and âcatchâ the set. Itâs hard to see but some of the locks constantly fall into false sets and Iâm also bouncing the lock back to a neutral position
Trademark? I thought that it was a standard method of using tension. I think bill mentioned it in one of his tutorials. I'm only a very inexperienced beginner and I've been using that technique for nearly two years already. There's a lot of instances in life where a little bit of give and take goes a long way to make things much easier.
@@penfold7800 I donât recall seeing that from Bill. I started out watching his channel when Harry as a very, very distant second and this channel had maybe 5k subs. I could be wrong though. Itâs been a while since I watched one of his tutorials. What I do know for sure though is Iâve seen a lot of people complaining in the comments on this channel about how âheâs doing it wrongâ when using this technique.
I love Multipick (although Ive yet to get one of your pieces from them) I feel like the EPG takes the fun outta the pick. Just my opinion. Congrats on 100k subs
Really more for the Pros , still handy to use to Hone the Skill of Using
@@cinny2222 I dont know a single pro that uses a epg to pick a pin tumbler lock...let alone something w security pins. I agree it takes a skill to use it...but so does buttering toast
@@Mo-Town_Auto_Icons obviously used Accordingley on the Right Locks, need to Maximise Speed for Entry , depending on Either Situation , Maximise the Cost of beng called out
great video again... i have multipick kronos that i use a lot. wouldn't trade for anything. just my opinionđ
A lot of people like it!
Hi Lock Noob, It's weird, we have tested EPG's on various locks over the years and they seem to be reasonably successful on euros with Yale type keyways - we do see those Downunder - but for some reason we have not had much luck with the original Lockwoods ( not sure why ) However the mechanical pick gun, and using a "Y" shaped tension tool, which does give good rotational control of the plug, will pick these locks much more consistently - may be it's the sudden impact of the needle against the pins, rather than vibrations, don't know ...
I would say that the tension control is really key. I could see how a tight y wrench could really help đđ
You're dead right with your assessment. These tools are not useful to hobbyists, even if they sold at 10% of the price, because you would learn nothing new about lock picking from them. They can be very useful to professionals; the obvious intended market. Thanks for the review of a beautifully crafted tool.đđ
Thanks đ
I saw on YT a fellow made such a device by modifying an extremely cheap electric toothbrush. It was quite effective too.
Only effective on very low sec locks as tooth brushes oscillate
Nice sonic screwdriver. What model is this and where is a Doctor?
Cool!
Nice little tool ive Had 2 Kronos now , both of the bounce adjustments screws broke..looks like the same set up so think I will pass on this. Thanks for the review
Great tool for a locksmith on site as you say but would take the fun out of picking for me
It's a damn Sonic Screwdriver, and you know it! Hiding your reflections hasn't helped, you're outed! What number Doctor are you?
I've never felt compelled to try EPGs or, in fact, rapid-access techniques in general (raking, bumping and so forth). However if I were a tradesperson doing lock work for a living then I could certainly see the benefit this tool could bring. I would be a little concerned about how well that finish would hold up in the hands of someone working out in the field, covered in oils and grease & who knows what else. If this were an everyday workplace tool then I'm not sure having such an exotic finish would add much. That makes me wonder if this finish is actually designed with such a user in mind; whether it is textured for better grip in wet or oily conditions and so forth, or whether it would be a microscratch magnet. It's very attractive but, for that pricetag, I'd want it to remain attractive.
my guess is this wouldn't be a good device to learn feedback ?
It can open the bowley lock. Try it. It's been done on CZcams
Wells pretty fancy tool but I made one myself out of a toothbrush and it worked great and when I say toothbrush I'm talking about an electric toothbrush
Well, I don't pay rent as I live at a university, but I work and all my $$ is disposable. I SPP the stuff here= it's all Best SFIC, but occasionally I have trouble with a lock or 2. I would REALLY be interested in how well EPG's and MPG's work on SFIC's? I almost want to buy one to see. I figure I could try it for awhile and if I didn't like it= sell it as used on Ebay to recoup some of the $. What have you heard? They never try it on SFIC's even though it's probably the #1 commercial lock in America?! HMB if you have any info noob, thanks.
I might buy one of these at some point, I like the smaller form factor. What type of battery does it use?
They look like two 4.5v 4000ma Lithium cells. I'm just guessing though. It would be useful to know if they were generic cells that you could buy replacements of easily. Let's hope they're not a bespoke size only available directly from Multipick.
Can you get these in the states?
Have you checked out the Dangerfield MACHINA. Now that is a masterpiece looking very high quality electric pick gun. It makes the Kronos look like a $1 store pick.
I'm guessing that this product is really aimed at special forces, where it's handy to have most of what you would need for covert entry stored in an inside jacket pocket. It looks like the engineering and workmanship is mainly in the motor, gearing and cam mechanics of the tip. Quite a challenge to miniaturise the action. I don't think it's good value for money though, not even for your average locksmith.
Certainly forces around the world use epgs
I cant even understand how you get the pick into the keyway. Im trying to pick and era cylinder lock and the keyway has what I can only describe as a zig zag shape and its making it ever so difficult to insert the pick gun straight in. Even when I get it it, there's no room for the pick to move up and down. Its driving me crazy. How do you insert it so effortlessly?
Itâs honestly really easy. You have to angle the pick tip so it works at about 30 ish degrees
@@LockNoob a simple little adjustment and life's good again lol - thanks fella
How would you compare this to the wendt epg 3 ?,also sold by multipick at a similar price range.
They all work the same tbh
I bought a multipick kronos and it came with a faulty button which eventually fell out while it was in my bag đ€Ł waste of money. The problem is you can't open it up to repair them. I've come across a few people who have had problems with them
Is there a Right or Wrong Way to have the Blade? I use it the other Way with the Curve facing downwards
Wow its not Cheap, very Similar to the Kronos , it looks A Smaller Version
Artemis or Kronos ? Your Preference .
I like using the other side as it gives me more blade to play with, but as far as I know it makes no difference functionality
Am curious why you only demonstrated on euro cylinders, is that just what it's most effective on?
Also, would love to see you make your own epg out of an electric toothbrush... If anyone can, it's gotta be you.
This will work on padlocks and rim locks etc too. The reason I used euros is because they have right paracentric keyways and security pins and, more importantly, they are all locks I donât mind using an electro pick on⊠itâs a pretty brutal method
^^^ Eh? Eh? ^^^ Not only did you do it, you one upped the idea. Lol! Well done!
I prefer by the hand, then you can feel the chambers
i think a low medium and high setting is needed.. But I guess the "pro" locksmiths are all for an up-sell of a new lock since this tool ate the last one
Can these be adapted for dimple locks?
Yes Andy Law Lock Tools sells his Dimple epg TIps picks and they work really well
Looks like a sonic screwdriver.
Its very Nice But it would want to be At $740 Australian dollars. I haven't Had my Kronos made by Multipick all that long either.Their killing me..Lol
The camera picked up the secret behind the tool. I could see the magic fairy pixie dust coming from the needle and into the keyway
You use epg on Ruko donât you?
@@LockNoob I must say I carry the kronos in my edc, but the manual dual snap action is my go to. See it as a sniper vs machine gun thing. But pick guns is the only thing I try to pick a ruko, before finding a bypass or destructive solution
If the cylinder is to stay in use I do not want to wear down the pins as the ruko is so picky about specs. Know part of the cloud of pixie dust is also from the warding inside the plug not just the pins
I have owned other EPG's they are not as easy to use as they look in vids. Not a magic wand. Locksmiths tools really. Thats a nice one though expensive. đ
Small and powerful but also 480 euros is "little" bit overpriced. On other side this kind of vibrating tools is very destructive for the locks and I use it only as last option before drilling or snaping cylinder.
Yeah, I was explaining this to a few people in some other comments.
Looks like a lightsaber
My wife will find it more controllable than her Kronos. đđ
Lol back in the day we would just use an old electric toothbrush. U just lop off the head of brush heat up back end of ur "pick" and push it right into the plastic. The heads are changeable and came in packs of 5 or 6. So u can cheaply make a whole pick kit. I get this tool for pros but for noobs like the channel name I think the toothbrush would be better. $500 electric toothbrush.
I can see metal shavings floating about, I wouldn't think this would damage cores or pins significantly but it seems don't use it for a customer without explaining the potential need of a replacement lock
Itâs a quick brutal entry method, itâs not something you do to the same lock over and over. Should be fine a few times though
@@LockNoob I wonder if copper or brass coatings could help, it surely can't be completely Brass/bronze/copper etc but maybe some softer coating. Thinking more on a professional need than amateur
@@lokichoki_ DEFINITELY a professional tool. There is no use case for these requiring a âsofter touchâ if an epg wonât work, the lock is drilled or snapped anyway
@@LockNoob I've never used one in the field most peoples locks are pathetic and I usually get both in under 3 :) . I've sold alot of Kwikset smart key setups. In the US our selection of lock in common stores are junk. You'd be hard pressed to find at minimum an American lock
@@lokichoki_ sadly, it's the same in the UK. Mostly Masterlock and not very well made Yale these days. I blame consumers. I really don't understand why people spend less money on their front and back door lock setup in their houses than what they are very willing to spend on just one of the mobile phones they have secured in it.
You mean ânothing Iâm doing on camera is illegal!â . We donât know what goes on behind closed doors đđ
Wish I had known about this. I just bought the Kronos a month ago!
Would you say to some degree this is better than the Kronos?
@@jeffl1484 I like the color! But I donât think the price is worth the difference- especially if one already has the Kronos. Maybe someone will do a direct comparison.
@@arlenbell4376 Thanks!
Even as a hobbyist, I tend to buy the best quality tools on the market. By experience I know I will end up there anyway so it is better to skip the low/mid range purchases directly. However, and even if I am interested in trying an EPG, I will pass on this one. I really cannot justify to pay twice the price of the Kronos that is already a top quality product. 60-80⏠more why not but not âŹ240 more!
That's what I'm thinking. Is there really even much of a difference besides the size and fact that it's handmade?
@@danielwilson3976 they claim it uses a "better" motor, and its less loud, but i have not seen a difference to justify 240⏠just yet.. its handy that its smaller but come on.
Is it just me or does that look like metal shavings coming out? :)
No, epg tools are quite tough on locks. Itâs sort of how they work. Good positioning helps, but you are striking metal on metal many times a second. Fantastic locksmith tool though
Cuanto?
Yeah.. It looks like a toothbrush.. Lets go with that.. Toothbrush..
Its total crazy the price of these things. Its a small electric motor, a battery and a aluminum shaft. Robbery
looks like a really big nose hair trimer lol
The biggest down is that it seems limited to Euro locks. I did not see any padlocks or cylinder door locks so it would not be so useful in the USA.đđŠ
It really, really isnât limited to any specific lock. Any pin tumbler is possible. I just had a load of euro cylinders on hand and chose them as they are full of security pins, have tight paracentric keyways and more importantly to me, are old locks I donât mind taking a beating from an electro pick
