  • Real world review of the Sigma 19mm f2.8 lens for micro four thirds. most affordable lenses have trade offs in quality, Ive found the DN series to be a pleasant surprise especially in image quality, This review was filmed with the Panasonic Lumix GH1 and includes numerous photo and video examples.

    Hey man. I just wanted to say thank you for this review. You opened my eyes just a little bit more to the world, not just the lens. That doesn’t happen often at this degree I feel now, and I can’t quite pinpoint why this moved me so much. But I want to show you my appreciation, so once again thank you, and keep it up.

      Zachary Smith Zachary you going to make me cry bro. LOL. I don't know what was going through my mind when I shot and edited this but maybe it all summed up in what I said at the end of the video. When we hear politicians talk they always talk about the middle class, no one ever speaks about lower class or poor folks. I guess those are the people I want to encourage and uplift to use their creativity because everyone else is covered. I really appreciate you taking the time to say that because this particular video took me over a month to shoot and edit so knowing that is appreciated makes that time worth it. Respect

      @@Raychristofer I've been using Canon EOS systems for a few years but just grabbed an Olympus E-PL7 to play around with and maybe make that switch to M43. Canon gear with the clunky adaptors and lack of lens options is a killer. M43 seems so compact and easy. Aside from the kit 14-42 the Sigma 19mm is the first lens I've ordered, ultimately swayed by your review

      @@Raychristofer yes, will take a look. a friend has the 1.4 which I've seen first hand and he has great results with it. I've also got my eyes on the sigma 30mm 1.4 so plenty of research and testing to do. will get my hands on this 19mm first though and have a good play

      Thanks Oliver that means alot. some of my most iconic images when i look back were taken on a mft camera made in 2009 or 10 with an inexpensive lens of no note. I cant take someone reviewing camera gear sitting at a table unboxing. makes me wanna pull my hair out. this is the only way I know how my man and thanks for appreciating it. Im working on 2 lens reviews and the g7 camera also the focal reducer. itll take time but will be informative as I can make it. thanks

      +Berti Munro Hey Berti thanks, when I was a kid the cool dude who used to cut my hair's name was also Berti. thanks for checking it out, and the fact that you made it to the end meant I did my job to keep it engaging. one of the hardest things for me to learn in shooting and editing is not to hold a cut too long and keep moving foreward. The only vintage lens I have worth reviewing is a German lens called a Meyer Gorlitz Trioplan, the "soap bubble" lens, look it up the bokeh wide open is one of a kind. was made in the sixties also. Im afraid if I review it the hipsters will drive the price up lol but I might. Im also working on a review of the ND filter from the vid and an affordable aluminum case with the customizable foam like a pelican case. I appreciate you subscribing also, Im never gonna ask anyone to subscribe or like my vids that would mean they suck lol. catch you later Berti

I think Sigma really should have made a wide angle and fisheye version of these, like a 12 and 8mm. only thing holdin em back from legendary status is the f2.8 but you cant have it all. feel free to check out my latest lens review, a vintage soviet lens, the Helios 44-2, I also put much time into that review. thanks for taking the time to comment.

    Love your videos man... Always interesting, well paced, and shot beautifully. Lenses are a tricky and personal thing to review, because it's often one of those things photo and video people have very strong opinions about. The video gives you a good idea of what the lens is capable of, and the limitations and bells and whistles it may not have. Anyway man, keep it up! You make great content!

      +mhanlen1 Hey MH yeah thats how i feel about phone reviews, folks can start arguing in the comments they feel so strongly about a system, Im surprised my windows phone review is doing so well but it does have a few dislikes lol. I had this lens long enough though to know it inside out and only keep it real, hopefully theres notthing to really disagree with. when I saw how much effort you put into your flashlight reviews it showed its better to upload one proper vid a month instead of ten thrown together in 5 min. thanks for checking it out.

      Yeah I agree. Although CZcams seems to favor quality over quantity when ranking videos it seems. I wish my stuff didn't take as long to do, but I feel like it's better because of it. I'd stop making videos, if wanted to be like the other bros out there.

      +Raychristofer Most people don't comment. I comment a lot more now that I'm a youtube creator, but I still forget to like and comment sometimes. I have an nex5t and rx100m3. I need a wide angle for the nex and this looks perfect. I would upgrade to the A6300 if they had put image stabilization in it. I was very disappointed that they didn't. I'm pretty happy with the nex5t though really. rx100III is pretty awesome except for poor autofocus performance during video shooting and weak microphones. Neither has a mic input.

      @naturalverities Před 8 lety

      Seriously, Ray, I think you are a guy who is trying to "pay it forward" with your vision for making fine photography tools accessible to folks who thought it might be out of their reach. Good on yer! I came here looking for a recommendation for a high bang-for-buck prime lens as I am not exactly flush with photo funds myself. I'm shooting an Oly E-M10 and loving it! Almost sprang for the Sigma but went back and reviewed some images from my Oly 14-42 kit lens at 19mm and found they are pretty darn good resolution (sharp at 13x19) so will hang with that a bit longer since a wide aperture is not a priority for me. Also using a cheap but good Oly 40-150 and Samyang 7.5 fisheye. See some results here: goo.gl/photos/P6QAygHKaVy59sTS8

      True about the display. I have to use the smartphone app for that. The E-M5 MkII does have the forward-flippin' display but is a lot more $$. The Oly in-body I.S. is the bomb for handheld video, though, and their frame rates are now pretty competitive with Panasonic.
