    5 Important & Clinically Proven Reasons You Should NOT Take Statin Drugs
    ===============================
    Statins are HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. They work by blocking the enzyme (HMG-CoA reductase) in your liver, that is responsible for making cholesterol.
    Now, this is very important topic to me personally, because over 15+ years ago my parent’s were prescribed these toxic drugs and they had a ton of negative side-effects.
    Unfortunately back then, we didn’t have all the data we have now. The pharmaceutical companies did a great job of hiding them.
    Today I’m going to reveal the top 5, clinically proven reasons, why you should NOT take statin drugs and one of my favorite, natural alternatives that my own parents use.
    Reason #1 - They DON’T Work!
    Statin drugs DO lower your cholesterol levels, but don’t think they lower your risk of heart disease, heart attacks or strokes.
    Based on the statistics of “Relative Risk Reduction (RRR)”, statins reduce the risk for only 1% of the population - that’s it!8
    Reason #2 - Increase Your Risk Major Disease, Including Cancer!
    Statins increase your risk for diabetes. And what’s interesting is that over 50% of people who have heart disease, have elevated glucose and blood sugar levels. So the irony is that the statin drugs will indirectly INCREASE your risk of heart disease by increasing your blood sugar levels.
    Statins also cause neurodegenerative diseases, such as memory loss, Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s and Parkinson’s.
    Statins also cause musculoskeletal disorders, leading to muscle pain and weakness (myalgia), muscle cramps and other muscular problems.
    Statins also cause cataracts, which is a clouding of your eye lens and is a main cause of low vision among the elderly.
    Finally, statin drugs are known to cause cancer.
    Reason #3 - Deplete Important Nutrients
    Statin drugs deplete two very important nutrients in your body.
    The first is Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10).
    CoQ10 is used for energy production by every cell in your body, and is therefore vital for good health, high energy levels, longevity, and general quality of life.
    What’s important to know is that your heart is the most energy-demanding organ in your body.
    By depleting CoQ10, your heart slowly becomes weaker and ages faster.
    In addition to CoQ10, statin drug also reduce Vitamin K2.
    This is important for you to know because Vitamin K2 protects your arteries from calcification. Without it, plaque levels worsen.
    Reason #4 - Liver Problems & Toxicity
    Of all the negative side-effects associated with statin drugs, the most common was “drug induced liver injury”… This accounts for a whopping 57% of all statin related “adverse drug reactions”, which included potentially severe and some cases, deadly consequences such as:
    Death from acute liver failure
    Liver transplantation
    Jaundice
    Liver problems are so bad with statin drugs that each year there are millions of people diagnosed “moderate to serious liver dysfunction”!
    Remember, your liver detoxifies and cleanses your entire body. Poor liver function greatly accelerates aging!
    Reason #5 - Natural Alternatives Exist
    You don’t need to take statin drugs because natural alternatives already exist.
    Nature already has the answers, NOT the pharmaceutical companies. I’m sure you already know this….
    Drugs can be used SHORT-TERM, to quickly improve a health problem … TEMPORARILY. But positive, long-term benefits can only be seen and felt using natural means.
    This way, you have a proven, simple and convenient solution for your high cholesterol, while being so much safer than statin drugs.

    In 2003, I took lipitor for 6 weeks. My blood sugar was normal when I started the drug. At 6 weeks I returned to my doctor because of increasing upper abdominal pain. My liver enzymes were sky high as well as my blood sugar. I immediatly stopped lipitor against medical advice. Took months for my liver enzymes to come down and I have been diabetic ever since.

    I got off of statin drugs three years ago. My cardiologist was none to happy with me, and her nurse practitioner called and told me I was going to die if I didn't take them. I just told her that everybody dies and hung up.

    My Mom was put on Zocor back in 1994, and she acquired just about every known "side affect" of the drug. The doctor changed her prescription to Lipitor, and most of the side effects went away. However, her sugar levels began to rise. And she swore that it was the "statin drugs that CAUSED her to have diabetes." Because Diabetes did NOT run in her family. My Mom entered her Eternal Rest in Dec. 1997 at 85 years old due to liver and kidney problems.
    My older sister, who entered her Eternal Rest almost 2 years, experienced the same results, and at one point, she was taking 16 different drugs, and some of them multiple times per day. She also died of liver and kidney failure!
    About 3 years ago, my doctor prescribed Crestor (i.e. Rosuvastatin) for me, because my total cholesterol was a little over 200, my HDL was about 35, and my LDL was around 180. I began taking CoQ10 when I started on the statin, because I had heard about statins lowering the CoQ10 in our bodies. But I just now found out about the lowering of Vitamin K12.
    The statins did bring my cholesterol down to within the "normal" range. However, it ALSO INCREASED MY GLUCOSE LEVELS. I asked my doctor "Why should I continue to take the statin drugs, since my cholesterol was now in normal range?" I was told that I should continue taking it to "Maintain" my lower cholesterol levels, because without it, my cholesterol would most likely go back up. So, now that my sugar has been running too high, rather than taking me OFF of the statin drugs, my doctor prescribes me ANOTHER DRUG called "Metformin" to control my sugar.
    I am currently taking 12 different prescription DRUGS.
    4 of them are for high Blood Pressure (Olmesartan, Amlodipine, Hydrochlorothiazide, and Carvedilol).
    1 (Metformin) for "Diabetes."
    1 (Rosuvastatin) for "Cholesterol."
    1 (Dexilant) for "Acid Reflux" yet, I was not having ANY indigestion or heart burn.
    1 (Testosterone Injection) for low testosterone.
    4 more for COPD (Symbicort, Albuterol Syrup, Ventolin [Albuterol] Rescue Inhaler, and Albuterol Sulphate for the nebulizer).
    It turns out that my Mom was 100% CORRECT! Statin DRUGS absolutely DO CAUSE Diabetes, as well as other Health Problems!
    I have been telling my "doctor" for quite a while now, that I want to "GET OFF" of all of these drugs. Because I KNOW that "Long Term Use" is going to CAUSE my liver and kidney to begin failing! And as we all know... that leads to certain death!
    I'm currently 64 years old, and I'm not afraid of dying! I have lived a good life, and I believe in JESUS, therefore, I am confident in my "Eternal" destination. However, I'm really not TRYING to "Speed Up The Process" so I will die sooner rather than later. I would like to STOP BUYING all of these DANGEROUS AND DEADLY DRUGS from these "LICENSED DRUG PUSHERS!"

    Easier said then done. I am also on Metformin for Type II Diabetes, a blood pressure medication and heart medication. 6 years ago I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, high Cholesterol and high blood pressure at 63 years old. Before that I stayed away from Doctors and barely took a aspirin or Ibprophen for anything. I stopped taking the generic Simvastatin I was on but my primary Doctor made me go back on it. In January of 2018 my EKG didn’t look right. Prior to this I was never diagnosed with a heart problem. Well at that point I was sent to a Cardiologist the same day and they didn’t see a problem but said to be safe they wanted me to come in for 2 tests the following 2 weeks. The first test was a Echocardiogram that found nothing to be wrong. Had that same test at 63 years old and they saw nothing wrong then either. The next weeks test was a nuclear stress test that showed I had blockages. That afternoon they put me in the hospital and scheduled a angioplasty for the next day. 45 minutes or so on the table thinking they were done the cardiologist told me he was sorry he couldn’t help me that they were making arrangements to transport me to a different hospital for open heart surgery. It was done 3 or 4 days later and they transplanted veins from my left leg into my heart. I turned 67 years old while in the hospital February of 2018. Since then I have my good days and have my bad days. My legs are achy most days probably from the statins. There are days when walking up steps I barely make it. Other days some pain but I do it no problem. My vision is not as sharp as it was before my diabetes diagnosis 6 years before. My eyes seem to dry out faster maybe because of the Metformin and I wear contact lenses. Wearing glasses I don’t notice any problem with my vision. I am retired so when at home I don’t wear the contacts that much. I would like to get off all this medication. There are days when I forget to take my Statin pill which my Primary Doctor just changed to another generic called Atorvastatin and my Metformin. You know what I feel like my old self on those days. Hopefully my search on You Tube with questions will give me more answers to my problem so I can find out exactly what I need to do because I an not getting that info from either my Cardiologist or Primary Doctor. Thanks for this video.

    Years ago I was put on Livalo at 5mg per day ... slowly started feeling weaker and developing odd cardiac sensations briefly ... my doc mentioned I might consider adding CoQ10. I also needed to add Vit D supplements and was pushing pre-diabetic numbers. I remember feeling like my golf club was going to fly out of my hands, and one of my patients (pediatric PT) giggling and saying your muscles "are jumping" as I began developing systemic fasciculations (muscle twitching). As I researched all this, I began to taper the Livalo and ramped up healthier alternatives ... fiber, apples, oatmeal, blueberries, chia seeds, green tea --- as well as continuing frequent exercise. Now I am off the Livalo completely and feel mush better, stronger, and the fasciculations have minimized. I really appreciate honest and thoughtful medical debate on this hot topic Dr Robbins. Thanks for sharing your clinical views ...

    • @drsamrobbins
      @drsamrobbins  Před 4 lety +4

      I believe your body tends to adapt to everything and almost everything should be “cycled” for best results. Food, diet, calories, macro nutrients, workouts, etc. Some stuff like sleep, should be kept constant. When I was formulating and testing CholesLo with my parents and my private clients, I noticed taking off a few days out of every month, when using the general dose of 4 daily, seemed to give the best results. Plus, it saves you money. Of course, some people don’t like taking days off as it breaks their “pattern” and daily habits. So for them I just suggest taking 3-4 daily, every day. I hope this helps.

    Be VERY careful of what is said here....If you have had a heart event....according to my cardiologist, you must take a statin drug for a certain length of time afterward, depending on the amount of LDL in the system to cut the risk of problems....it all depends on the personal situation. Obviously, if you are healthy with a high LDL count, you would want to lower it naturally, but in the case of people with heart troubles...do what your cardiologist says. Regarding increasing your A1C...yes, mine spiked somewhat for a brief period to 6.9 but with exercise, and my solid diet, my A1C went down to 6.5 after 9 months.

      First, this is a good question and thank YOU for being honest and give me and our subscribers your feedback. THIS is why I do all of this - to help people. I’d do a detailed video about this for you. However, I also don’t want you to leave empty handed …
      So, “legally”, I cannot tell you to not take any medications. “Please always speak to your doctor before you do anything in this world, blah, blah” =) … okay? …
      With that said, IF this was ME or my dad, my OPINION is heck YEAH, get off. WHY would you get on a statin drug, WHEN your cholesterol levels were normal to begin with? Stupid ass doctor!!! Granted, I don’t know anything else, your lipid sizes and so forth, not the rest of your blood test, hormones, etc.
      So I can’t give any additional advice, sorry… but, my video can hopefully give you more clarity and options when I release it. Make sure you’re subscribed so you’ll be notified.

    Hi, Dr. Robbins. I’ve been taking Lipitor for over a year now. I read a lot of negative stuff about it. I wanted to quit taking it. Can I just stop taking it? Is it safe for me? I’m currently taking Coreg for my blood pressure. My doctor told me to take both.

    How long does the statin take to leave your body, I've stopped taking it

    • @drsamrobbins
      @drsamrobbins  Před 6 lety +22

      It depends on the drug and dosage, since each one has a different half-life. However, typically they’ll be out of your body within a week or two. BUT, that doesn’t mean the negative effects are gone by then. These drugs are toxic and have long-lasting negative effects. So, it may take months to feel “normal” again. Make sure you take high dosages of CoQ10 and Vit. D3. As both are depleted with statins. And then consider taking a natural alternative such as drsam.co/yt/NoMoreStatin - this is what my own parents have been taking since 1999

    • @drsamrobbins
      @drsamrobbins  Před 5 lety +8

      Hehe… those clinical studies are all one-sided. Many of them are. Only a very SMALL percentage of people really need statins and that’s all due to a genetic issue. Healthy life-style is very important. IF you do everything natural and you still can’t get to healthy levels, then you can take a VERY SMALL dose of statins, much smaller than the recommended dose and you’ll get all the benefits with minimal side-effects. But, most doctors just like to slam you with the high dosage and walk away.
