    I own 2 of each of these. I have had them for about a week.
    One thing people constantly mention about the newer Eufy cams is they do not connect to a "homebase."
    I specifically did not want cameras that needed a homebase. Eufy stated to me on tech support that mesh routers sometimes do not work well with Eufy if they're dual band. I have Netgear orbi and I am not an expert on setting up dedicated frequencies for devices. With the newer cameras, I appreciate that I do not have to worry about that as they connect right to the network. I actually created a guest network just for the cameras. So some of you touting this as some huge negative, it's just not the case 100% of the time.
    The outdoor cam pro has more features within the app. It has the Pet setting which works in my experience. On my front porch cam at night I had human and pet detection turned on but all motion turned off. All motion picks up leaves blowing and birds flying. I had a cat come on my porch at night and Eufy recorded that but nothing else while the pet setting was on. The floodlight cam pro either has human only or all motion.
    I have received very quick notifications on my cell by both cameras. Some seem to make you wait 10-20 seconds which seems like by the time you get it, the person might be gone. All motion will pickup cars driving in far down my driveway as they come in. If that is turned off, you will not get cars unless it parks and a person gets out of it.
    The floodlight cam lighting is great in color at night.
    I have my outdoor cam pro's on porches with lighting so I don't use the night vision and it displays color all night. I do not have the spotlight or power indicator turned on for these.
    I put 128gb micro SD in my outdoor cam pro. I have them set to continuous record from midnight to 5am. I can get around 30 days of doing this if I do not delete any.
    I love the snapshot preview for both cams and Eufy will identify it as a person if it is a person.
    I have not missed anyone because they have a pre-roll as you stated, though the outdoor cam pro's is just right where the floodlight cam is a little bit of a wait.
    I have found the motion detection for both cameras seems to be slightly farther in daylight vs night time. It is still good enough at night for sure. I haven't measured but it's at least 20-25 feet at night.
    I considered Arlo, Ring, Lorex. I feel like the new ring floodlight cam, being made of plastic, is kind of a joke.
    I also don't have to pay for a subscription.
    One thing Eufy needs to add is lost signal notifications. Whether the camera loses network connection, or is stolen, it would be good to receive a notification that a specific camera is not connected. I believe other cameras have this and called Eufy and said they should add it. Overall, I feel like a made a great decision. Your review was great but I wanted to add some details from someone who owns 2 of each and has been using them exclusively.

I’m really enjoying how the outdoor cam pros are performing. Still waiting for the floodlight cam to come in. Hope they will eventually be compatible with a home base especially for the floodlight cam since it’s internal storage is only 4gb. Thank you for how detailed your reviews are.

    I agree with you about the HomeBase, I like the idea of having my footage inside the house but Eufy seems to be moving away from it with this Pro Cam and also the new Solo Cams. They also jump around with features device to device, they need to establish a better cohesive ecosystem IMO. More 24/7 recording camera options would be nice too.

      I think the Eufy Cam Pro 2C had a lot of issues with recording/motion detection stopping on a lot of customers due to the home base? It happened with me, and there's tons of sites discussing this problem. Moving away from the home base is probably the most reliable solution. If they continue to keep storage on the device, then they should increase the size of the storage capacity for sure! Maybe LifeHackster can confirm the issues with the Home Base and the problem with motion detection and recording stopping?

    The extremely limited storage on the flood light, non continuous recording, and the fact it doesn’t connect to the home base is why I’m switching to ring. Sucks because I got my setup a few months ago. Doorbell is nice, and the home alarm is nice but with ring it will call the cops and record continuously so you don’t miss out on things because of motion detection settings.

They had me make a video of me installing it to google assistant. Ended up going with arlo because it allows home automation with other devices. Do the floodlights turn on at the same time as the camera at night when the human dection mode is on? I heard they work independently and you have turn the human dection off at night and set the motion setting to "all motion" if you want the floodlights to go off at night and have color night vision.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  Před 3 lety

      They are independent. The floodlights uses the PIR sensor which will usually more sensitive and will turn On even when the camera hasn’t detected any motion. The camera uses algorithm and AI if human detection is ON. The floodlights will mostly be ON already when a real motion is detected and the camera will then pick it up.

    Great video as always!
    In regards to Eufy though, after the recent security hack they had I don’t think anyone should be recommending them. Hackers had full access to everyone’s accounts and base stations. That means they could see footage from all Eufy cameras, whether they were indoors or outdoors. Combine this with their other security leak about 4 months ago where footage was being sent to the wrong users, and we see a pretty clear unfortunate pattern from them.
    The real issue in this isn’t just the lack of security, but it reveals that Eufy probably isn’t properly encrypting their footage like they claim to do.
    I used to be a big proponent of them, but now I strongly recommend anyone to sell off whatever Eufy cams they have. There isn’t a great alternative for now in that price range, but that kind of lax security is completely unacceptable.

      Don't get me wrong the recent problems at eufy are not good but absolutely ANY camera that has an internet connection can be hacked. The only way around this is a total DVR set up with no remote access to your footage.....I'm not too much of a fan of that either

    • @johnbod
      @johnbod Před 3 lety

      @@greenreaper1985 You can make things reasonably secure with a vlan if your router supports that kind of setup. Also I’ve got my complaints with HKSV, but if you’ve got a good password then it’s pretty secure. All things considered I’d trust apple over a chinese company. Nothing against the fantastic chinese people and culture, but the CCP has an iron grip on any business operating out of there and I don’t trust my security footage under that kind of regime. Maybe if Eufy was open source but it isn’t.

      @EweToobUsername Před 3 lety +5

      Are you talking about the brief moment when Eufy was updating their servers and ~700 users were able to view each other’s footage? That wasn’t a hack - that was a server error which was quickly corrected, and it affected wireless cameras running on Homebase and Homebase 2 setups.
      Even so, you can configure the Outdoor Cam Pro and certain other Eufy products capable of running as IP cameras in such a way that you’d never need to worry about others having access to recorded footage - just don’t insert the MicroSD card and use a NVR, like a Synology NAS.
      Besides, if we were worried about every single service or device that got hacked in the past - along with massive government overreach in how data is accessed and handled - we’d return to the stone age.

    You demonstrated in another video a separate solar powered outdoor floodlight, which combined with a batter powered 2C Pro, strikes me as a competitive choice to the two cams reviewed in this video because with the latter you have to run wires for power, and the recordings are susceptible to theft/vandalism--along with the devices. With 2C Pro, the HomeBase contains the recordings, risking only the device to the whims of ne'er-do-wells. Agreed?

    Hi LifeHackster , I want to get your opinion which brand have the better AI human detection with POE wired cctv camera?
    another thing I notice most of the CCTV that you review , their alert function is base on Schedule base , doesn't come with option for user ARM or DisArm to reduce to fault alarm.
    the reason why I say so is because most of the night time we are stay at home , if we suddenly walk near to the camera , it will trigger alert , the best option I think is allow users to arm the camera before we going to sleep or Away from home.

    I was wondering what difference the motion sensors/approach made on both devices? I'm guessing the outdoor pro is done based on the image and software detecting changes and the floodlight is PIR? I've got some indoor 2ks setup outside (under cover) and without limiting to human or pet detection they detect events as the sun moves across the sky and shadows change, also if its windy and bushes move. My arlo cameras which are PIR perform much better in that regard.
