      Hello StagArmslower,
      Your outboard is a 1961, the 07152 is your serial # 7,152nd one produced in that model production run.
      In good original condition, these motors are desirable for fisherman and collectors alike, the fuel tank will have the 2 line system with primer button located on top of the tank. Tanks in good shape are bring $100.00+ dollars today, plus fittings.

      Hello Albert,
      Gale mfg. (division of Outboard Marine Corp. OMC ) produced outboards from 1941 - 1963 only. The Buccaneer models were made from 1950 - 1963.
      There is no listing for 6D-22b as you asked for. It could be a 5D-22b, a 5HP motor only built in 1963. I provided you a link for the Gale models made in USA, '41-'63 when OMC ceased production of the brand. Hope this helps you. Doug @ the "ranch".

    Help, please. Bought an old pontoon boat with a Johnson Tracker 9.9 motor on it. I can read the serial number clearly: G 03266374. The model number is scratched; I can only make out TJ10RE (looks like LL) M. I'm having fuel pump issues and want to order the correct part. Thank you for reading this.

    • @lakesideranch
      @lakesideranch  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Craig!
      TJ10RE(LL)M is not a good model number. But, don't panic we have alternatives. Let's start with what you have.
      T=Tracker
      J=Johnson
      10=HP
      R=Rope start (std)
      E=Elec start (option)
      L=Long shaft (20") for this model [which makes sense because it's used for pontoon and sailboats normally.]
      L? is not ever used. So we need to guess at what the damaged letter is I, N, T, R, U, or E. The other letters when damaged wouldn't have verticle marks, right? So O, C,and S are out of the running.
      The missing (damaged) letter is the model year designator, for all outboards produced from 1980 thru 1998, and it works for Johnson and Evinrude models. Here's the "secret code"....
      Remember it with the word "INTRODUCES"....Easy right? Well, now you need the answer key: I=1, N=2, T=3, R=4, O=5, D=6, U=7, C=8, E=9, S=0 (zero) Here's a decoded EXAMPLE: EI=1991
      Still with me? Okay. So now you know how to read the model year code. IF you don't discover your motor is outside of the 1980 thru 1998 timeframe, look at the engine block, find the quarter-sized slug that's present on the casting (silver color) and that will contain the complete model number for the engine, which will allow you to pinpoint the year of manufacture. Hope this helps you. A bright note to close this: Most all Johnson and Evinrude outboards use the same fuel pump for small HP engines. You can obtain a rebuild kit for yours if the pump housing (cast plastic) is in good shape.
      You will find parts listings by HP (year isn't important) for a 9.9 or 10 HP motor. Good luck, I'm here if you need more help! Enjoy your day, work safe! Subscribe to my channel as a tip for this help, deal? Thanks Craig....You've got this my friend, your motor will be happy with a new pump or pump kit!

    • @lakesideranch
      @lakesideranch  Před 6 lety

      Decent Citizen Yes, individual casting numbers are visible on many parts, they won't help ID the year. Really need data plate info normally on transom clamp. I can tell by the color that motor is from the early 50's most likely.
      Look for the plate, it only has 2 lines, model & serial #s, it will positively ID your motor.

The transom clamp (where you got your numbers from) may have a salvaged plate from another motor, this is common. To accurately verify your motor HP and model year, remove the cover and locate a nickel sized plug in the cylinder area which will have the model # stamped into it. If that # matches your plate number (FD-21R) the powerhead is original.
