- I recorded commentary for this flight as I fly over this new terrain for the first time. I almost always do multiple flights at each spot I decide to fly. This was flight one of two. I'll be making the second flight into a cinematic edit.

Appreciate you posting your footage. Watching your videos just encourages me more and more of the reason to get into fpv. Dji just isn’t cutting it for that epic footage.
Alas, I do this hobby alone. Your loving spotter partner make these videos perfect.
ahh thanks, I'll pass that along.
Fantastic footage and equipment! Best regards from Switzerland, Andy
oldguyFPV; Always impressed!
Cool 😁🙏
Nice! I know that spot. I ripped around the river and that wide open debris field. You went way up there. Great seeing what it looks like from your vantage point.
amazing place to fly!
Great flight, and commentary too
Thanks a lot!
Wonderful, just incredible, Falcon. It's just a pity the weather wasn't very good, it wasn't the right light to shoot. but the flight is incredible.
"Woah! Some Sick Gullies to dive!" love it.
Thanks buddy!
Another amazing location. Nice scouting. Enjoying the cometary, and then watching twice. First to learn flight plan, and second to observe details. Guessing you must cary pre-downloaded satellite overview, or have topology map of the area for preflight reference? Post-flight review must be a fun exercise with planning for future routes and dives. ;) Incredible flying!
Thanks, I'll try and make more of these commentary style of videos. I just look over the area in goggle earth before going out there. Then spend several minutes talking about the flight route and any possibly difficulties or line of sight issues.
Not gonna lie, I watch your videos while I poop now because they always make me need to poop from the anxiety haha.
😂😂👍👍
lol, I thought this one was pretty chill. I've got way sketchier footage to put to video still. Like crashing my octocopter while flying it in a forest and then 20 min later diving a mountain 5km out with it.
@@FalconRadFPVoh it definitely seemed chill. I never truly flew long range, but I’ve done a ton of proximity flying over the ocean and the jitters I get during the flights are unreal haha, sometimes I’ll forget to breathe hahaha
Haha 😂🤘
That’s way cool Conrad, I can’t wait to see that footage..
Amazing flight & I'm a big fan of your flying. Wishing I had mountains like that to fly. Keep sending it & I'll keep watching. 🤘
So awesome man! Seems like having a proper take off location is a huge factor in how far you’re able to go as far as line of sight for video.
Ya for sure, I'll spend time looking for different vantage points for the best line of sight for the part of the mountain that I want to fly.
@@FalconRadFPV makes sense! Guaranteed it helps to scope / pre-plan that to maximize your flight route instead of just sending it and hoping for the best 😂
Wonderful times...
Penerbangan yang bagus. Keren ❤
Cool, I like watching those flights
Amazing flying, dude! Wonderful footage! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks, you too my friend! 👋👍
yep another solid one!
Nice, greating from Indonesia as a LR hobies fpv drone :)
Cool 😁🤘🙏

Very cool flight - what a beautiful mountain range! Just FYI - I think the large, bowl-shaped feature you called a caldera is actually a glacial cirque.
Thanks for the comment! Oh very interesting thought. You can tell by the rough upper edge of the rim on the "bowl" shape that the glaciers in behind have never reached enough depth to crest the rim of the bowl, the rock is too jagged. A glacier would have smoothed the surface quite a lot over the years. The way the "bowl" shape is separated from the main glacier by this rim prevents the glacier from being able to flow into that area and scrap away enough rock to form a bowl. Although there is some glacial (or at least multi year ice) within the bowl, there is not sufficient area within the bowl for enough ice to form and create the required pressure to force the glacial ice to move, or flow downhill slowly over years. The way the bowl's rim is protruding up into the air above the glacial field (along with its jagged rocky form) makes me think that either it's shape has prevented glacial build up on the one side or that the bowl shape was formed later than the surrounding mountains by volcanic activity.
@@FalconRadFPV Thanks for the followup info. Very interesting area and geomorphology! When you popped over the top of the rim, that view just took my breath away. What range is this, if you don't mind?
Another epic long range flight sir, riding along has my anxiety through the roof lol!
Yes please
I watch your videos with great interest all the time; you are a true inspiration to me and a source from which I gain knowledge about long range. I've only been in this hobby for a year now, and I started right away with digital FPV. I wonder if theoretically, if you were to do the same flight again, would you choose to use the o3 video link?
I prefer to "learn" a new area with analog. And fly digital after I've learned the line of sight. Just that losing video with DJI is a bit more intimidating than it is with analog. And I've flown analog for 6 or 7 years and Digital for only 1 year. So still much more comfortable with analog. I could have done the flight with my 03 build, I just would have been a bit more careful about the line of sight.
Always so cool! You make me trust my quad so much more. Ive never really tested how far i can fly. It gets scary over half a mile 😂. What rc link do you use? I saw -102 rssi dbm. Thats almost butt puckering numbers.
It's crossfire for control link. I'm comfortable with it going even lower than that as long as the LQ is high. In the middle of nowhere there is zero interference so LQ is always high, rssi dbm can get down to like -120 and still be fine.
Anybody up there.. ok let's get back down.
FalconRad up there.. how can i get into trouble!
haha, well gotta try and keep it interesting right?
heavens get momma a tripod or something bruh my arm was feeling tired just watching!! (or a FPV monitor/tripod?) just got a Flysight Black Pearl RC 801--what a nice piece of gear for observing until the GCS is complete
haha, her goggles have a tripod mount on the bottom if she evers wants to use it.
@@FalconRadFPV copy that!!
Great video and commentary!! Do you have the antenna on your transmitter vertical or horizontal? Do you ever change the orientation of it mid flight given that, on the quad, the front antenna is horizontal and the back one is vertical?
I always have my TX antenna vertical. A vertical to vertical antenna link is best for long range. When horizontal the two tips of the antenna are the weakest part of the radiation pattern, and when turning 360 degrees you'll eventually point that weak tip of the antenna (null end) at yourself. When vetical you only point the ends of your antenna at yourself if you fly directly above or below yourself. I should do a video about this and line of sight both together...
@@FalconRadFPV great thanks for the explanation! Yeah an in depth on each part of the Long Range FPV system would be great!
Add remote id for fpv drones
haha no remote ID in canada, yay!
Making long range look easy..
Isn't it easier to just chuck your antennas on a tripod? That way you don't have to worry about which way your head is facing.
I figure with them on my head I have the option of turning my head. On a tripod I would have to ask my spotter to turn the tripod which would take much longer and a bit of back and forth to establish exactly where it should be pointed. With turning my head, I just turn my head until the signal gets better, it takes about 2 seconds. Although I do tend to move my head around too much when flying aggressively and or diving cliffs.
@@FalconRadFPV yeah fair enough. Ever thought of antenna trackers, or just too much effort when you can out it on your head?
I wonder how that TrueRC antenna compares with my foxeer lolipop4 plus... I guess I'll buy one and see...
The lollipop V4 is good, but the TrueRC Singularity is definitely better. I've done a couple of flights with a lollipop v4 and don't really use it anymore.
@@FalconRadFPV V4 or V4 Plus? Just curious before I try the singularity.
Thanks, falconrad -
i use P45B 21700 (self-built 6S2P) on my 7inch. [9000mAh; 90C; 880g]
have you ever thought of going bigger on your batteries?
Yes, I have several larger battery packs made up, P42A, 50S, T40 and P45B. I only just got the P45B cells. They are supposed to be quite good but I find I don't use them very often though. With 6s2p 18650's it weighs about 250 grams less and still gives me more mAh than I need for most flights. I usually save my large batteries for flights that will be over 18km or when I want to have extra time to explore or take multiple tries at getting a certain shot on the GoPro.
@@FalconRadFPV i currently building a 10inch, with analog for FPV and an O3 for recording. the pros are less cost, less weight, more digital range, and more aerodynamic - over a gopro
28 Sats!? Who needs M10? lol
Ya M8 GPS on the new betaflight, works great, no need to upgrade to M10 if you already have an M8 GPS.
What antennas do you have on your goggles?
I've been using dual 7 turn helical antennas that I made. Here's a video about it: czcams.com/video/aH0cW9XJ4D4/video.html
Or if you just want to buy something really good, then the TrueRC X2-air is an amazing antenna.
Are you running both DJI and analogue on this?
Analog, man
This was my RAD Li-ion build which is analog.
Promo`SM
I wonder if Elon would let us use starlink to bounce our control and video links... I'm so tired of having to worry about line'o sight... I'mma ask him.
meanwhile my video loses signal after i pass 5 trees
haha, it's all about your antennas!
@@FalconRadFPVIm thinking about getting new ones (I have the 'basic' antennas on ev800dm) but not sure if it will help much. But I gotta try :D
When is your wife going to fly and you be the spotter?
