- Ramayana, the ancient Hindu epic is carved on the walls of Prambanan temple in Indonesia. This is the story of Rama and Sinta, still quite famous in Indonesia and is performed as Ballet and Puppet Shows. There are considerable differences between Indonesian Ramayana and Indian Ramayana. But the Prambanan Ramayana is even more different.

Only one thing about bag /purse type thing..my intuition only suggest me it's raksha kavach or like tabij expression on wearing man suggest like he pronouncing mantra
This structure seen many temples which is wearing or hanging but not touching to floor.

Hmmmm... So, "beauty" has ALWAYS been around, and "with" us?! "Shaming" isn't really the "word" that should be used. "Demons" ARE "unkempt" beings. They are horrid, disgraceful and UNHEALTHY "creatures" (if I'm not mistaken). Living unhealthily results in "undesired" consequences on our physical form. Now, if one is not born with "good genetics" to begin with, living an unhealthy life or leading an unhealthy life-style, will result in even more, amplified, negative effects on their physical form/body. There is no "SHAME" in this, it's just simple FACT!!! I wouldn't be too hard on the sculptors on this one... as a natter of "fact(s)", they should be COMMENDED for TRYING to portray what "falling to one's demons" will do to one's self. Spiritually AND physically. Shame?!? Nah!!! "Prophetic"?? Absolutely!! ; ) Hope that helps!

I live in Yogyakarta and am very fascinated by your videos about Indonesian temples. Even though I'm not a Hindu, but as a Javanese, our roots cannot be separated from Hindu-Budhism, we learned Ramayana, Bharatayudha, Sanskrit, and all sorts of Hindu-Budhism & Animism aspect at school all across Java (Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java) while in Western Java, they learn Sundanese and also has Hindu-Budhism aspect in it. I don’t know which is more staggering. The amount of carvings and storytelling the ancient builders put into just these few panels or your ability to decipher and explain what they intended.
Legends ,physics,morality and your like what ten scenes into a temple covered in carvings.

There is a small story about a squirrel and Lord Rama during the time of Setu- Nirman, when the squirrel start filling up the gaps between the stones thrown by monkeys. Rama recognizes her efforts and awards her with three stripes on her back and lots of blessings
he did not award her.
to acknowledge her he picked her up n affectionately stroked her on her back n the three stripes arethe marks left in her by Ram's fingers.❤❤

Even tho Praveen reveals breathtaking revelations, he's just standing on the shoulders of scientists who have painstakingly fought thru weather, unsafe political regions and back breaking work.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huuuuge Praveen fan, but he's not really an archeologist. He's more on the side of a you tuber.... nonetheless, he does awesome work.

Many Indian archaeologists’ have roots in a western approach to Indian civilisation. Many are alien to Hindu religious text .. So let us park that thought to western archaeologists.

This temple didnt get built during stone ages or dark ages… People already done rice farming with iron tools 😅,, they were already Homo Sapiens and no longer hunter-gatherer society.😂

You have a gift for story telling. Among my own people such persons are highly esteemed. Native Americans never developed a writing system of much complexity, except in Central and South America. But a very rich oral history was important in the continuity of culture, so naturally those who "held the interest" in a story were also highly regarded.

But Praveen, our Ramayan starts with the same scene too. Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan starts with the same scene where all the Gods, along with Brahma and Shiva come to Narayan, tell him about Ravana and pursue him to take Avatar to end Ravana's terror. That's the only Ramayan I have known and seen since childhood.
The opening scene resembles that in Thulsi Ramayan, (Ram Charith Manas), but Valmiki starts the scene with a verdict of curse on a hunter who kills one of the pair of Krouncha pakshis(birds), Then Brahma comes and asks him to continue with the same verse as the starting of the epic, since the curse itself in another split form interprets the glory of Lord Vishnu incarnated as Lord Rama.🙏

So happy to listen to your explanation of various things shown by you. Excellent video of Ramayana.
Some of my observations: Kakabushndi was the crow (sage cursed) was given the task to narrate Sri Ramayana as he was blessed to see Sree Rama being born to King Dasharatha and see the see the complete Ramayana The paysam from the Agni purusha was being distributed to Kausalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi, Vayu snatched some and gave it to Anjanadevi.
Sage Vishwamitra requested King Dasharstha to send Sree Rama and Laxman. Dasaratha requests the sage Vishwamitra that he would protect the sages, but Vishwamitra wants Sree Rama and Laxman only for they were his favourite students. And they were told to kill Maricha and Subhahu , but as you mentioned Lord Rama pardoned them.
Sree Rama lifts the bow and tie the string to both the ends of the bow , hearing the twang of the bow Parshuram appears as he feels the kings have again planned for destruction.
Now I will wait for the next episode of Ramayana from you My favourite epic.

Alternate explanation:
Praveenji, at 9:47 you mentioned that the lady twitching uncomfortably was Kaikeyi. But I actually think its Kausalya moving in a very disturbed manner on hearing that the saint (Vishwamitra) wants Rama to come with him to slay Maricha and Subahu. She is anxious that Rama might get hurt or even worse, might not be able to get through those turbulent times
But i thank you profusely for enlightening us and showing us painstakingly the Prambanan version of the Ramayana

I felt very happy to see all that and your description of the sculptures is simply marvellous. Ramayana is so interesting and your narration and the sculptures made it even more beautiful. I spent a day in Prambanan and blocked a lot of photos of the panels. Actually, there were more than 1000 panels . I did see many details of travellers disembarking from Ship, being received by the locals, etc. With your approach, we could reconstruct the entire Ramayana from the sculptures. You are a great person, Praveen, destined to create awareness of ancient cultures across the planet.

In Indonesian cultural history, we know the Prambanan temple as the legend of Roro Jonggrang and Bandung Bondowoso. It turns out the relief tells a different story. Respect for your observations.
Oh God! How many versions of Ramayana are there in this world? Nobody can read, understand, translate and teach so much in one life.
Even in Hinduism it is said that there are multiple versions across different timelines, only the King of serpents know it before revealing it to Hanuman, then the time traveling crow called Kakbushundi who has seen multiple versions of Ramayana across the timelines.
Man I love this channel! I didn't know Praveen was also narrating ancient epochs too. This is so informative! I have to watch or read Ramayana now. I grew up wiith Indians and indonesians my whole life till I moved to US. I always wondered what these fantastic stories were about and here years later Praveen gives us an epic narration. Looking forward to the rest.

Kudos to Praveen Mohan. It was because of him I got deeply connected with Pracheen Bharat & Hinduism once again. Being from a Brahmin family I have proudly embraced my roots & taken huge interest in Bhartiya Devalayas, History, culture, religion & everything else.
