A friend of mine's mother had been driving a Camry for around 10 years. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the car but she was just ready for a new car. She had her heart set on a Lexus 350 but her son tried to point her toward an Avalon, pointing out that it was very much the same car for a noticeably less money. So he finally got her to the Houston Auto Show. We spent about 2 hours there and all she did was walk back and forth between the Toyota display and the Lexus display. They each had an Avalon and a 350 on the floor and as luck would have it, both were similarly optioned out. She really had her heart set on that Lexus but she's also a financially savvy person for the most part and she ultimately bought the Avalon. She forfeited a couple of options that the Lexus had but those wound up being a total non issue.

I drove one time from CT to Florida and back. I averaged 36 MPG. This was extremely impressive because it was a full sized sedan. It had 233hp and 240ft lbs of torque. Only repair I ever needed on it was a new alternator. At 150,000 miles. It was a very good car.

I love my '13 Avalon Hybrid Limited. The only complaints I have are the ones they warned about in the reviews at the time. The ride is too stiff for an Avalon since Toyota was trying to market the car to a younger demographic with this redesign. They've softened the suspension back up again, starting with the '16 model. Also, the seats really aren't very comfortable considering what this car's mission is. It's otherwise a supremely competent highway vehicle (the EPA says it will go like 670 miles on a tank), but the seats are underpadded. Otherwise, it's by far the best car I've ever owned.

It still looks "showroom new" with frequent washing (or quick detailing) and quarterly wax jobs. Just had a compliment today! Thanks again for all you do.

Hey Scotty, I love my 2010 Camry XLE! Got it previously leased 4 yrs, got under coating, paint protection, scotch guard interior protection, thing has over 120K mi ..no problems other than expected shocks/brakes & tires.. I swear most other people lease a car for no more than 4 yrs so they don't ever have to buy new tires, but they are always in the shop(so many problems w/new cars?!), while my car is running like a new(or better) & rides like a Cadillac! (The vanilla Camry sleeper..all you need or want but no headaches, or fancy show & bargain price, always gonna be a good ride so long as well maintained! 0-60 not most impressive, but smooth & once up to speed can be considered an excellent "autobahn grade" daily driver or a challenge to the "muscle -bricks". A few speed racers have gotten shut down by a '10 Camry XLE (equal to mine of a different color) ..SMOOTH & FASTER THAN EXPECTED, *INADEQUATE BRAKES TO SCRUB SPEED! DOES NOT BLEED SPEED QUICKLY!
Don't get ticketed, but enjoy the ride!😉👍

Scotty. I've been watching you for a long time and finally got to use some of the knowledge I've gotten from you. My wife was finally ready to get rid of her 2012 Kia Sorento. I showed her the Avalon on CZcams, so she wanted to see one in person. I'm not kidding, the first one she looked at, she fell in love with. She had no idea of the age. It is a 2013 Avalon Limited. This is a beautiful car. It only has an actual 87,050 miles on it. So far, the only thing I've had to do to it was replace the side view mirror turn signal. Thanks for educating us on what to look for and what to look at to make sure we are getting what we see. No lipstick on this old girl. Just an honest, well maintained Toyota. Bought a 2014 Limited Avalon in 2020 with 86k and absolutely love it. The car is quiet, fast, and almost furious. Between Eco, and Normal, the Sport Mode does make a difference. One of the cool features besides the lumbar is the thigh support on that trim. The only thing I wish was increased was the fuel tank capacity which gives your ~280 miles per trip. Since this Toyota model is being discontinued and if you like it, I suggest going with the Lexus ES 350 (my neighbor’s choice with an additional $5k on top of it).
