- Shoestring French Fries are way easier to make at home than you may think! The amount of money you will save is incredible and they taste better too!
Check out this video and I will show you just how easy it is to cut your own fries. I have detailed below the cook times that you can follow to cook your fries. I checked them more often than I really needed to in this video so you could see the progress! Have a great day and as always, thanks for watching!
Instructions:
Cut your potato to size that you like and soak in water for at least an hour before air crisping in the Ninja Foodi.
Pre-heat the Ninja Foodi on Air Crisp mode to 400° F for at least 5 minutes.
Dry the excess water off of your fries with a paper towel or a flour sack like I used. I'll put the link below to the flour sacks so you can see what they are if you aren't familiar with them. They aren't literally flour sacks. 😂
Toss in a little bit of olive oil (or any oil you prefer) and lightly season with whatever seasoning you like.
Place fries in the basket of the Ninja Foodi and Air Crisp on 400 for 4-5 minutes, Flip and continue for another 4 minutes or so.
Then I would check every 1-2 minutes and stop the Air Crisp when they are done the way you like them. Mine took a total of 14 minutes.
Keep in mind that the larger the fry, the longer it will take for the inside to be done and the outside crisp. For really thick cut fries, you might want to bump down the heat to 375° F for the first 5 minutes or so to give the center time to cook and not burn the outside. After that 5 minutes I would increase the heat to 400°F.
The more fries you make at a time, the more often you want to move them around for even cooking and they will probably need longer than my 14 minutes.

Congratulations! You are going to love it! I have a few more recipes that I haven't done videos for on my website, if you want to check those out. Thanks so much for watching! 😃 thesaltedpepper.com/
Any idea what you are going to cook first?
I’m thinking either spaghetti or chicken with veggies and rice. I cannot wait to use it!!
Brittney Elliott She just did a great spaghetti video. Hit those reruns.
Brittney Elliott sounds good! Let us know how it works out!
LOL....Bless your heart....4 servings? Not in this house!...lol
Voice of Reason 🤣🤣🤣 I know, right? Who am I fooling? We cooked the whole potato and ate every single French Fry! 😱
😂😂😂😂
@@TheSaltedPepper I adore fries, so I highly doubt 4 servings for me will be enough! What an incredible dinner that would make!!! Get me some Gravy!! lol
Yall only cut one potato? We cut, like 6
Oh jesus!!! Thats hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have tried both fresh cut and frozen fries in the Ninja Foodi a few times now. Each time they have got better. So fun learning a new way to cook!
Being a very poor cook, I always love your displays. Your instructions are always clear and simple. Many a lovely meal, I cooked, thanks to your clear, simple instructions.Thank you so, so much.
This was the first recipe I made in my Foodi - just a week ago LOL. I have already tried two more of your recipes and they have all been fabulous! I'm so glad I found your channel. Your videos are going to help me get the most out of my Foodi. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes!
Thank you so much! I'm so happy that you are enjoying the recipes!
it's good that you give recipes, as many Russians have instructions not even in English, but in Basque and other exotic languages, and your videos help not to make mistakes in cooking.
I made these tonight. Soaked the potatoes in water for a couple hours in refrigerator. Tossed in olive oil and some seasoning. They were so crisp on the outside but soft in the middle. Perfect French fries!
YAY! I'm so glad you liked them!
I tried exactly the same steps however I used sweet potatoes for the fries AND I coated them with paprika and garlic with some salt and I used a low cal cooking spray called fry light .. they tasted so gorgeous with my spicy quorn burger 😍
Sounds great!
Yum Yum these are delish! Thanks for sharing another great recipe!
I'm glad you like them!
I pressure cook my potatoes then air fry them....they are delicious!!
So my wife had a craving for french fries and wanted to order them from our favorite sub shop! Figured I would try to make them myself and Salted Pepper to the rescue!!! She loved them!!!!!! You Rock Louise!!!!
So glad she loved them!
This looks so easy!!! This is certainly a recipe that needs no written instructions! Next time I make sloppy joe's I'll make these, as well!!! Your cutting tips are very helpful. I had no idea that it would only require one russet potato to make so many!
Thank you!
My Ninja arrived today... so glad I've found your videos! I'm staring with fries, really simple. Thanks for sharing!
Hope you enjoy your new Foodi!
Thank you for your videos! They really helped get me over my fear of using my Ninja Foodie ~ especially the first one with the pressure cooker practice using water. Now, I'm on to shoestring potatoes!
Glad I could help!
Love your food videos. Really great foodie foods. Glad your here and thanks.
Thanks so much!
Wow, I learned something today. I worked at a restaurant as a kid and they always had their potato wedges in a big bucket of water, because they cut them there. I always wondered why! Now I know! Awesome sauce 👌
Yep! It takes longer, but it makes big difference.
Another great video, thank you. I made these for the first time, today. I think it's largely because I soaked the uncooked fries, as you recommended (which I'd never done before [i.e. not even pre-Foodi]) and also largely because your directions and demonstration are so clear and so good, the fries turned out to be the best I've ever made. Really crisp, really brown, just the way I like them.
Having said that, as I make them repeatedly, they may well improve.
Honestly, If I can do this *anybody* can.
Mark Houlsby That’s awesome! I’m working on onion rings now!
@@TheSaltedPepper I can't wait!
I'd like to know - if we use regular store-bought french fries, is it good to soak them in water first like you did with your freshly made ones? I've never knew about the soaking part before, so I want to know if this will improve even the store-bought frozen french fries.
to start, love your vids.used the thumbs up, of course.someone gave us the 6qt yesterday and then found you today.lovn' it
Congrats on the Ninja Foodi! You are going to love it!
Made steak fries in my new Foodi today! Mixed sweet potato with regular potatoes. I iz cooking! Thank for your channel.
Wonderful! Thank you!
Great recipe! Just used foodi for first time. Made the fries. It was great. Took about 17 minutes as I had 2 potatoes ..thanks
Fantastic!
I cannot wait to make these ! They look so good and so easy to make!
They are very easy and I hope you love them!
I’ve been making fries in the ninja foodie for awhile, but this recipe is the best homemade fries I’ve ever eaten
I just bought one of these ninja cookers, And I tried your hamburgers and your french fries and both came out great! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, you saved me a lot of investigatory work :-)
Glad you like them!
Great video! Thanks. As I watched your video I was like this is so clear and well done maybe I will subscribe to her channel after a couple of viewings then when you mentioned and showed a clip of your burgers I paused the vid and subscribed instantly lol. Going to surprise my wife with some homemade burger and fries today.
Thank you so much! I hope you and your wife enjoy the burgers and fries!
Love the multi-shot filming! Thanks for explaining the purpose of soaking the potatoes! Keep up the good work!
Thank you Glen, you too! Your videos are very professionally done.
The Salted Pepper thank you I appreciate that 😊. It’s a learning process for us all and best part is it’s fun. See you on the next one!
@@cookingwithglen152 Yep, it sure is fun!
I just got my new ninja your direction were
Great!!!! I m looking forward for more of your recipes...
Congratulations on the new Foodi! You are going to love it!
Love your videos, especially your particular funny, very nice (but super clear at the same time) way to explain every step preparing your delicious suggestions. Thank you !! Very useful for me !!
Awesome, thank you!
Just got my Ninja Foodi and really appreciate your vids...Thanks! Keep it up!
savagerush You are going to love the Foodi! Thanks for your support, I hope to see you in our Facebook group!
Excellent ideas, I am learning with y new foodi. Thanks
Thank you!
This was the first recipe I tried with my Ninja Foodi. It was amazing. But...Being one who likes to push the boundaries of reality, I did an experiment. Instead of soaking them in water, I soaked them in pickle juice. Seasoned with salt, dill and a bit of cayenne. They were incredible!!!
I did that recently, too!
Soak em insidher
The fries look good! I agree with you on the burgers. I made one the other night because of your video, and it was so juicy and delicious. Next time I want to try stuffing one like you did.
Thanks, Pam! I’m so glad you liked the burgers! Definitely try the stuffed ones, you will love them! You can stuff them anyway you like! I’m working on getting the timing down, so you can make burgers and fries together and both are ready at the same time. 😍
Mine just came in and you are a LIFE SAVER with this video. Philly cheese steak and shoestring fries for dinner tonight!😊
That sounds so good!
Made these! They rock! Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed them!
Looks great! Thanks for explaining the reasoning behind soaking your potatoes in water.
Brenda Carr Thanks for watching, Brenda!
Yes agreed people always say to soak fried but they never explain why. That is so important and why I liked this video. Explaining why things are done is what will separate you from the other videos and put you out way ahead with the subscription numbers. Keep it up your doing an awesome job! 👍
My children got me a Foodi for my 60th. I am looking forward to using it for chips and things. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy it!
Thankyou allready made two of your recipes and loved them making the fries now love my ninja just got it yesterday. Thankyou for your videos.
Glad you like them!
Ordered one of these - have to wait two weeks as they're out of stock everywhere. Thanks for the great tutorial. I learned a lot.
Oh wow! It's worth the wait though, you will love it!
@@TheSaltedPepper Managed to source a cheaper one (£200 instead of £230) direct from supplier, with earlier delivery (5 days instead of 14 days)! Here by Friday. Looking forward to it. Thanks again.
I love you man ever since I bought my ninja Friar years ago I've been watching your show and you've been a great help and I tell everybody about your show I'm very impressed and I'm very thankful because without this I would be kind of on my own but you have a lot of great tips and you've been very thorough and clear not like other channels thank you very much love you man
Thank you so much!
I'm so glad I found your channel, & I'm now having a bingefest watching all of your vids.
Thanks so much for watching! I’ll be premiering a new video at 11am ET if you want to come by and say hi in the LIVE chat!

Awesome! Thank you! Congrats on the new Foodi!
just watching all ylour videos, mine arrives tomorrow so getting some good info here
Congrats on the Foodi! I hope you love it!
Thank you looks good
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve made some fries but they didn’t come out as good looking and as crunchy as yours. I’ll have to figure out what I’ve done wrong. They came out very mushy.
Did you soak them in water? That is really important.
Love your background music! ☺️
Thank you, Jeff (AKA hubby) takes care of picking the music.
Excellent fries, best I've ever ate. Thanks, no other French fries for me, best no other fries are even close to them. I'm making making them from now on. Thanks again appreciate
Thank you my mother in law just got one and I hate reading directions so this helped a lot
I wish I went to her Restaurant when it was up and running! Bet it was amazing
This is a great video straightforward and not too long. Thank you

Wherever I think of cooking something. . . You already have a video for it! You are incredible. Please keep up the amazing content 🙏🏼
That's awesome!
Olive oil now comes in a spray bottle. I have it and use it often when using the Foodi.
Joy Clayton That’s great to know! I’ll look for it. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Thank you again for your great easy to understand videos. 🙂
Thanks for your video I haven’t had my ninja foodi long and I was having problems getting crispy but never soaked them first. Definitely can’t wait to try again! Now to watch your HAm
burgers later!
Hope you enjoy them!
When you use oil won't the burn the chips l was top never use oil in the air fryer lt cooks by air

Thank you for making these videos. It’s such a help
Glad you like them!
New to your channel and this was such a mouthwatering video. I love how you were explaining as you go. The ending result came out looking amazing. Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️
Thank you!
Great job. Keep the videos coming.
Thank you!
Wow dear super tasty upload 😋😋👌👌👍👍
Got a Ninja Foodi today. Always been a fan of Ninja since their Blenders and Juicers. Was my mothers favorite brand. When I saw all these great videos on Ninja Foodi, I knew I had to get one. Made some chicken today, it was amazing. 20mins. I got a newer version that automatically preheats for 5 mins before cooking which is great cause most videos say to preheat for 5 mins now it just it automatically
Very cool!
Thank you for keeping it real simple :)
You bet!
Really enjoyed this video! I’m glad I came across this channel, I’m subbed now!
Awesome! Thank you!
They look so good! Just got a Foodi for Christmas. First thing, gotta have some fries now! Thanks.
I just bought mine yesterday and made wings for dinner and after dinner, cooked some hard boiled eggs. Wings were perfect and the eggs were the best hard boiled eggs I’ve ever made and no grey ring around the yolk. Perfection and no work at all making them.
Can the fries be cooked in the bottom of the main pan and not on a tray, kind of like a veggie or meat or something? Would they still get crispy I wonder? Just thinking they may not take so long to make them. Fries look good, thank you. I can’t wait to try these tomorrow. I’m so glad I found all your videos. That is how I decided to keep my Foodie. I wasn’t 100% sure on it until I found your recipes. Thank you.
They will cook best in the basket due to heat and air circulation. I'm so glad you decided to keep it!
Thank you
You are a great helper
Hello again!....i have tried fries every way under the sun. i learned a method by alton brown using russets by baking them first, and after cooling put them in the fridge over night. then using a sharp knife cut into steak fries, or smaller. then after that coat with olive oil, or better yet chicken fat. ....air fry, or deep fry. they are REALLY GOOD!
i like this method the best, but better yet i instantly have a baked potato, and the left over ones cooked, cooled, and put in the fridge i can make fries for another day.
I am in no way trying to give you advice, because YOU ROCK!..
anyway alton is a bit off the wall......lol....but the episode was on a steak, and fries method remake.
Thanks again, and you got another subscriber for sure!
I'll have to try that! Thanks for sharing!
thank you... just got my foodi... so am learning from you!
Congrats! I hope you love it!
Thank you!
You do a very good video demonstration. Thanks!
Thank you so much!
the best thing tool I found for the foodi is a fry daddy spatula. I don't use my fry daddy any more but the utensil gets used all the time, I wish foodi would come out with their version.
Is that a small spatula? I use one and it's great for getting in the basket!
After all the searching I did for the perfect french fries, I finally found your way. I should have known better!!!
I'm glad you like them!
Great video! Thank you!! 😊
Loving all your receips
Thank you so much 😊
5:01 great advice!
No Foodi’s in Australia yet. Really want one. Thanks for the tips. I’m ready when they get here. Rob

I’m so stupid!! Imlve hs this foodie for a little over a year and I’ve never really used it bc I’m so used to old fashioned poking , but I’ve never wanted to make fries on stove or I’ve. Until I see this video!! I’m making these today with fried chicken yummy !! Tfs and new subby yay!!!❤

These are so much better than McDonald's, I hope you give them a try!
Ordered my Ninja Foodi and will receive it tomorrow. Have been binging your videos this afternoon. I am gluten free and most of the recipes can work for gluten free. Marjorie (Peggy)
I'd love to know how you adapt the recipes for gluten free so I can add those instructions to my written recipes. If you have the time, shoot me an email! louise@thesaltedpepper.com
The Salted Pepper
I am going try to make the spaghetti. I use gluten free spaghetti - Ronzoni is a good brand to use. It tastes just like regular wheat based spaghetti. When you add flour for thickening gravies and such, I substitute with cornstarch. I do have a gluten free all purpose flour by King Arthur. This works well when having to dredge foods for air frying. I haven’t done this with the Ninja Crisper yet, but I like to do chicken strips in the air fryer. Will let you know how it works with the Ninja.
Marjorie
Going to try this today! and Some chicken Wings too! Cant go wrong with Wings and fries on my day off!
Hope you enjoy your day off and the yummy food!
Thank you!!!
You are most welcome!
Got my ninja today , going to try this tomorrow thanks
Hope you enjoy them!
Love the video! thank you so much
Glad you enjoyed it!
After I soak my potatoes. I run them thru my salad spinner. I add them to my basket for the 5 minute preheat. I then take them out and toss them in my oil and salt. I sometimes add a bit of tumeric or cumin because that's what I like. I then add them back to my foodi and air crisp for 20 minutes. I really benefited from your cutting demo. Thank you for that. Aren't fries in the foodi awesome? I'm still trying to figure out onion rings.
I had a salad spinner years ago, but never really used it. I can see that being a big advantage though. I love the fries in the Foodi! I was semi successful with a blooming onion. I'll have to work on onion rings and perfect the blooming onion for sure.
Thank you. Making my first chicken and fries in my Ninja
Hope you enjoy them!
You are pleasant and that was so helpful.
Thank you so much!
great...thank you
Thanks! They are really yummy
Glad you like them!
I just got the Ninja Foodi, Thanks a lot for these videos ! :)
Just bought my foodi last night and damn it rocks at everything, shrimp, steak wings, now perfect fries. these turned out just like In and out fries but Way better! The only thing better than the fries was the right side of that peach shirt!, I mean, off to the burger recipe now LOL!!
I'm so glad you are enjoying the Ninja Foodi!
@B- Dub, you dared say just like In N Out?!! Those are fighting words! But seriously, they really do look THAT good. @The Salted Pepper, definitely appreciate the soaking in water step, you’re right it makes a big difference. Also before I saw this video, I wasn’t patting them down again to remove the oil when they were finished so I will do that tonight to go with the REUBEN (because you’re right, it needs fries!)
Sounds good
They are good!
Excellent video.
Thank you!
I have the Ninja Foodie XL and um trying ti figue out how to do air fried fish and chips for 2. Even tho it’s the larger XL i cannot do the fish and chips at the same time. Im guessing i just have to air fry the chips first and then keep them hot in the oven while i air fry the fish.

just bought my Foodi.... can hardly wait to make these fried--the "real" reason for buying it :)
