Dealing with this now. My house smells horrendous and I canât seem to do anything. I think it lives under my front stoop and itâs sprayed at my foundation of the house. The basement is almost unbearable to go in. I saw to flush it out because they hate water and block off where itâs going under. My throat is burning my eyes are burning. Iâm so desperate to get rid of it
Oh no Iâm sorry! Iâm thankful my skunk ran away and never came back, I couldnât imagine if they were living under the house. You could maybe call your local DNR and see if they have any ideas for you to help deal with that situation. Hope you get it figured out, good luck!
Last week my dog got sprayed at 1 am and the only way to get away from the skunk was to bring him inside (the skunk freaking CHASED us đ) i made the mistake of giving him a bath and then did research and saw thats exactly what you DO NOT want to do lol. So now im dealing with both my dog and the house kinda smelling but at this point i kinda have to wait it out i guess. Hopefully it doesnt take more than 2 or 3 weeks (thats what i saw for how long until the smell goes away on its own at least) anyway, thanks for the video. I feel your pain đ
Oh no Iâm sorry! Yes I definitely feel your pain as well. Thatâs crazy that the skunk chased you, normally whenever my dog gets sprayed the skunks always run away afterwards. Hopefully the smell will start to become less potent soon!
What i read said to use a bleach solution on wood and concrete surfaces, but if this worked for you, then that's great too. Sorry you went through this!
Hopefully I wonât have another experience like that but if I do Iâll give the bleach a try! Lol this way worked really well too but I feel like the bleach would be an extra sanitizer.
Iâm sorry that happened. Itâs bad enough when they get the dog and the dog runs around the house. And itâs always midnight due to those nocturnal boogers 𩹠YES, please spread the word DO NOT use tomato juice, messy horrible and messes up drain. I wish I saw this before I panicked and recreated the prom scene from Carrie by completely burying my dog in red goop. Good luck and hopefully Pepe will move on.
Yes Iâve experienced the dog covered in tomato juice and then they shake and it flies all over you, not a fun time. So I was very happy to see a different method and I think it works so much better than tomato juice!
Oh it was horrible! Eventually we just got used to the smell, but the bad part is it absorbed into our clothes so I felt like I constantly smelled like skunk. Thankfully the smell is now gone, but I never realized how sticky skunk spray is and it stuck to everything.
Long comment for anyone reading this in the future - My dog (and my deck staircase, and the stone walkway at the bottom of it) got sprayed a couple nights ago and I had to do just what you did in this video. Makes me feel less alone to see someone else going through it! Haha. I could not believe how powerful the skunk spray was. It is WAY worse than the âregularâ skunk smell most people are familiar with - saw someone else online said itâs like burnt rubber PLUS skunk smell, times 10! Iâd say thatâs 100% accurate. Unreal. But the solution you used here really does work. I cleaned my deck stairs and the walkway underneath it and I can no longer smell it from the top of the deck. As for getting the smell out from inside the house, the best you can do (apart from using that same solution on anything that got the spray droplets on it) is to set out *several* bowls of vinegar (brought to a boil on the stove beforehand). That absorbs the odor in the rooms. I used a concentrated (I think 6x) vinegar from Home Depot. The house doesnât smell like skunk at all now. As for my poor dog, I shampooed him once with what I had on hand but Iâm afraid to try the peroxide solution because he has mostly black fur and Iâve heard it can discolor it. So Iâm waiting to get my order of De-Skunk shampoo from Amazon tomorrow. He was smelling okay yesterday but the skunk smell came back with a vengeance today! The one place outside where I can still smell the skunk spray is in a small planter that has two small bushes growing in it. The soil and the bushes both stink if you get close to them, and Iâm not sure what to do. Dig up the plants and soil and throw it away, and start over?
@@slacktoryrecords4193 oh Iâm sorry you had to experience this as well! I never thought about boiling vinegar, thatâs smart and if I ever have this happen again (hopefully not!) then I will try that. I used the solution on my dog and she is a blue Merle cocker spaniel with black and white markings and I did notice that her fur did kind of turn a brown color after using it, but I considered it worth it since she is an inside dog and it helped so much with the smell! And the next time she got groomed they shaved off all the brown and she was back to black! As far as your planter, replacing it with fresh soil and plants would probably be the way to go.
Iâm dealing with a skunk living under my house and spraying all night. The smell is horrendous. It seems to be the strongest in my bedroom. Iâll try the vinegar today. Iâll wipe the walls down with soap and peroxide and baking soda. I have no idea how to get rid of the thing to keep it from happening again. I read they can spray 5-6x then have to wait about 10 days before they can spray again. I guess every 10 days Iâll be going through this. đ
@@Sabbathissaturday hey if you know where they areâŠtry and place a radio or Bluetooth stereo with strong bass pointing downward. They HATE bass and will likely move on rather than deal with it. Best time to do it is duskâŠso sorry for the odor in the house tho! PU!
Great video đ â€

Youâre welcome!

Oh no Iâm so sorry!! Well I know the cleaning solution I mixed up definitely helped. Hopefully you have the same success!

Tomato juice worked on my cat!
Iâm glad it worked for you!

I just got some moth balls and put them in a few strategic places outside. Hoping to find its hiding spot(s).
Oh I never thought of using moth balls. Hope it works well for you!

This is awful!!! Did the smell linger inside after this? I feel like the potency is awful! Canât imagine it all disappearing!
