Skink-quistion is my favorite. Love those cute little guys, and it's really funny that they are secretly hunting chaos cultists in cities. A witness says he saw a skink commit a nearby murder and the guards just respond "Tetto'ka couldn't be the murderer, he is like 4 feet tall and too cute!"

My favorite is fangs of Sotek. I love the fact that they interact with other factions unlike the old world lizardman who acted from distance and were always a mystery for other races.

Thunder Lizards! Finally a narrative reason for my Tzeentch mortals army, Horde of the Iridescent Twilight, to be roaming the realm edge! Tzeentch wants that knowledge!

  • @SlytheWarrior

It's also good to note that the Thunder Lizards have a complex relationship with local Sylvaneth. If they share a nearby enemy, they fight as brothers, but if they disagree with the aftermath, they immediately start fighting each other. I like to see it as the coalesced version of the Fangs of Sotek vs Daughters of Khaine

I love the concept of koatl's claw too, a more militaristic driven seraphon society due to the fact that their slann got gravely injured so the saurus had to take the leading hand on their faction.
I'm actually building a seraphon army driven by a similar narrative, but in my case revolves around the fact that krok-gar (my favourite fantasy character) escaped the destruction of the old world on a zigurat that got damaged and ended up crashing on the realm of aqshy, with their slann using whatever forces he could muster to adapt krok and his saurus cohorts to survive the volcanic landscape and thrive there, giving the army a marmmadroth-like volcanic look to it, really enjoying messing around with that kind of asthetic and trying to bring back the old classic killing machine that is krok-gar, even tho he lost his old buddy carnosaur

The Skaven attack on Coatl's Claw illustrates one of my favorite parts of the Skaven in AoS:
You can't tell if that was part of a master plan, or if it was the result of everything going horribly wrong.

Even though my Seraphon Army is just gonna mostly be Starborn banished by the Slann for defying the Great Plan, and forced themselves into Ghyran, these other sub factions are pretty cool to learn about, and possibly even interact in narrative play

  • @mrTirwit
    @mrTirwit Před 4 lety +4

I share your preference for Koatl's Claw and ravaging saurus. I'm still working my narrative, but it will draw inspiration from the old model slann (in the old sickly chair and everything) I bought and painted 23 years ago but never got to play with, and mix that up with the end of quarantine and him coming back to watch all the savagery in the temple. Might make it interesting to draw real life parallels 🤔

Fury returned to him redoubled. Disbelief. It was not mere bad fortune that had brought the Seraphon upon him with the aligning stars. They had come for his realmgate.
Somehow, they had manipulated the Eightpoints to change its destination. How? The magic involved in enacting such a feat was godlike!
The apparition (Nurgle’s presence watching) hissed in sudden distress. Its cloak shimmered with many colours, every eye tightening shut as though simultaneously blinded. And then in a searing moment of universal light, it was gone.
‘Grandfather!’ Bule cried, light like a fire in his eyes. ‘Aid me!’
Shading his eyes with one heavy arm, he peered into the oncoming host.
Floating on a cushion of force above the golden spears of its warriors came the source of the light. It was as if a star had been called down from the heavens and condensed into a brittle caul of bone-brown wrappings and dry flesh.
Its presence alone was massive. From its palanquin, the mummified creature regarded the battle with the distant disinclination of an inhuman god.
Instinctively, Bule understood that here came a being that had known power long before some daemons had even come to be.
He felt himself drawn spiritually towards it, the golden funerary mask that picked out its amphibian features in jewels swelling to fill his mind as the universe subtly reordered around it.
It made no word or gesture, but somewhere in the cosmos something gave.
    The heavens opened.
Bule howled impotent fury as the stars glimmered and fell, plucked from the sky, and smashed into his horde.
The first meteorite hit at an angle, obliterating a dozen Chaos warriors utterly and blowing a crater hundreds of feet wide.
    Then came the rest.
The ground shook under the fury. The sky turned white, light and sound reaching an intensity where they sublimated into one, a single shrieking colour in Bule’s inner eye, and even the daemons burned in fire.
Bule struggled gasping onto hands and knees, tripping a warrior lizard running in behind him with a backward kick and riding it face-down into the filth until it stopped thrashing.
He stood up, dazed senseless by thunder. Waves of power smashed out from the advancing palanquin. It was almost impossible to stand against it, but in a tremendous feat of will, he stood. He shook his head.
    ‘Aid me!’
Nothing. Nothing but the awesome presence of this Starmaster. Moving with difficulty, he turned and staggered back the way he had come. Never in his life had Copsys Bule run away, but Grandfather Nurgle did not know defeat.

There might not be a template to pick from the battletome, but i would love to make a seraphon army someday that coalesced in Ghyran, having them compete with all the other forms of life there and having a very vibrant color to them, not just that eyepopping blue though....Its the same for me with Flesh-Eater Courts, I wanted them to hail from Ulgu but there's nothing other then a mention of them being there. guess i'll wing it.

Would it be too much of a stretch to have a Serphon/Stormcast constellation? Chamber/Constellation of the Great Drake. What if Sigmar decided to snatch some Saurus and Skink heroes to reforge? I recon a Sigmarite armour clad Saurus would look kinda cool.

With this news Im quite excited If skins and saurus or maybe even kroxigors can be playable for AOS's new RPG. I like the correlation where skinks show off their wits and craftiness to other order factions, it gives more character to the races of seraphon.
Also, I was pretty bummed out how they didn't do some kind of kroxigor centric faction. But I can hope for more to come

I feel GW's writers did a little bit of a soft retcon here and for the better. They do use spawning pools to create more Seraphon, they have hatcheries for their dinosaurs. The Starborne's spawning pools, being closer to Azyr, gets infused by the heaven's light making them more otherworldly. The surviving Seraphon in their ships were put into suspended animation when they escaped the World that Was.

    • @sempthegreat

@@ruirui7764 Wrong. Both use spawning pools. Starborne are just infused with azyr magic.

Fangs of Sotek is my favourite. Even though I'm a Saurus guy, the Fangs are just so Aztec like, with their sacrifices and what not. I'm painting my army as FoS, but will probably only play them as FoS and Koatl's Claw. A same Koatl's claw color scheme is pretty ugly.

I read this and thought they were thinking of letting Cities ally with Starborn and Sylvaneth with Coalesced. Alas it's like they forgot when doing the last page with allies.

I have a quick question I really want to get into miniatures and I'm not sure if I should go with kow or aos. Money and popularity are the only factors. I live in Ontario around Kitchener and would like if I could find some stores to play with people. I'm not sure if know is super popular where I'm from. Anything helps.
