    I have a Cities of Sigmar army that's supposed to live in a city which bounces back and forth between Ulgu and Shyish. Because black and grey can get boring very quickly if not handled right, I opted to use black, blue, and purple as the primary colors, with silver as an offset (frequently covered in a purple wash.) Where visible, the hair on the models is bright yellow, giving them a tenuously "candles in the dark" look that I'm quite pleased with.
    I was originally considering using cotton balls (sprayed lightly with grey or black) to simulate mist and fog on the models, but given the size ofthe bases and the fact that the cotton would inevitable tear off I decided against it. I instead went with a far more generic grey sand and leaves base that is then coated in a dark wash. Not as grandiose as my original plan, but far more practical an in the end, not half bad looking.

    I'd find it interesting if there was some place or element that focused on non-malicious aspects of Ulgu, just to contrast how bad the bad things are. Imagine a region or city with a very inauspicious name, like Torment, but it was actually a safe-haven where those in need of rest and the reclusive can live unseen and undisturbed by the horrors of the undead and chaos.

    I'm hoping for Malerion's new elf faction to be the next big release for AoS. Rebooted Dark Elves as someone mentioned earlier would be cool but I would like to see something more monstrous - perhaps some sort of shadow daemons similar to the mandrakes from 40K.
    I think it would be fun if they could represent the deception and guile aspects of Ulgu on the tabletop by giving you some way to bluff your opponent, although I'm not sure how this would work in practice.
    Whatever form the army takes, I'd love to see them and the Lumineth in a campaign book centred on Slaanesh's release/escape from Ulg-Hysh.

      Problem is that unlike the High Elves most of the Dark Elf line is in either Cities of Sigmar or Daughters of Khaine. So GW will have to invent an entirely new aesthetic for them, the Core Rule Book refers to Malerions Aelves as these sort or shadowy fiends. I think it would be really cool if they went all out on a more monstrous form for them.

    I had hoped to find more on flesh-eater courts from Ulgu, it fits them perfectly, what little i could find suggests they are in large numbers close to the shores and feast on anyone stupid enough to venture out and get lost in the mists there.

    Return of Shades would be nice. Seems the Dark Elves have a heavy Pirate feel to them. The boom you Recommend Heart of Winter good read BTW. Has some insight to the scourge privateers. I liked the Guards with Tridents wish we saw like a dread spear varient of them. Also Arika Zentne had a more pirate vibe that we usually see with the blouse and coat pants and boots I'd like.to see that more even tho they are described to wear the finest sliks. Personally I think the private look with the Hard Leather armor they wear is a nice mix. But Trident Spearmen definitely. For Malerions units it hard for me to really describe what I'd like to see. As how can you make a standing army deceptive and use Illusion without using skirmish or vanguard tactics where units can deploy anywhere on the map and quickly disappear like a flash of light. Without it being game breaking. So I'd like to see how GW does it and more lore in a battletome to maybe add or take away.
    But updated Elf pirates a must.

    @nathaniellawford2294 Před 4 lety

    awesome video, i have always loved the elves and the realm seems to have a tone of awesome concepts. I do have a lore question however; why in the realm of Ulgu or Hish despite them being under elven gods are most of the populace humans. Just one of the things i really liked about the world that was, is the different races and traits and histories, where as in age of sigmar it seems humans are not only the top dogs but are infact nigh on the entire pack. So why so little Elven culture and is there any stories focused upon their culture in the age of sigmar setting?

    • @gwell2118
      @gwell2118 Před 4 lety +1

      No there is tons of Elven culture and they can be found throughout the realms. Humans are the most numerous Order aligned species in all the realms, no single realm belongs to any one species. Just because they were Elven before doesn't mean that worship of them goes on a racial line. Many humans worship Malerion and Khaine, and many Elves worship Sigmar. Infact ironically Sigamrs realm Azyr boosts one of the highest Elven populations in all the realms and infact many Elves worship him over the Elven dieties. A god takes worship from whoever is giving it. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is much less segregation of the species, the old world was more Tolkien-esque in that the races were separated but now a Human could be the captain of a Freeguild group or mercenary force that could contain Humans or Dwarfs or Elves in equal measure. So obviously humans being more numerous, when in Metropolin settings they have a higher percentage of leadership. Of course there are cities that go the other way, the city Pheonomicon is one of the few Elven dominated cities, and the Living city in Ghyran boosts strong Wanderer numbers.
      Don't look at the realms as divided by racial lines. Its more a melting pot now. But there are tons of Elven sub-cultures, from the Eldrich council , the daughters of Khanie, the Scourge Privateers, Lion Rangers and various Elven settlements and conclaves. In Ulga as he mentioned the highest percentage of political power is held by certain Elven factions. But this isn't like a caste system, its more like the players who came out ahead after the age of chaos. For instance, Morathi would probably not hesitate to take out another Elven leader if it suited her. And other Elves that aren't part of their faction would probably get no more special treatment than a human or Dwarf. For Example Elven Scourge Privateers have been known to smuggle Elves slaves as readily as Human or Dwarfs. Heck there are even Elven and Dwarfen followers of chaos represented in the lore and table top.
      While certain factions are separated by race obviously (idoneth Deepkin) its now much more about allegiances and factions than race.

    • @adambielen8996
      @adambielen8996 Před 4 lety

      In addition to what GWELL said it is also important to note that it is that it isn't necessarily that Humans dominate the entirety of Ulgu and Hysh but just the parts that we have seen so far. Obviously we can't comment on the parts we haven't seen.
      Also the Darkling Covens and Ordo Serpentis are both Aelven factions of the Cities of Sigmar that originally hailed from Ulgu and had ruled Aelven kingdoms there before they were destroyed by Chaos.
