- Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards is the second solo artist to perform for the United States. She's a great tap dancer whom the judges didn't seem to care for. I thought she should have been given much higher scores.

Let me set the record straight. Dormeshia was the ONLY dancer on the show who REFUSED to pre-record her sounds in the spirit of TRUE competition. That's right - EVERY other percussive artist was PRE-RECORDED! Even after being reassured all was set, there were NO TAPS in the studio audience for them to hear and NO feedback for the artist to hear herself while dancing - only the television audience could actually hear her sounds during the performance. How can tap be judged if it can't be heard!!!
Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards is one of THE greatest tap dancers in the world. Who are these judges kidding?

Woefully, WOEFULLY misjudged. Every step, every beat was just perfect, and I loved how her steps were in sync with the "ching" of the cash register. One of the only performances when I just jumped out of my chair and gave a standing applause.
C'mon now, i've taken class from her. she is beyond anything imaginable really, and the two facts that it was classical music and she did it in character shoes just puts it on another level. she is truely blessed and gifted.
I agrre with everyone else. She was probably the best soloist out of the whole thing and they gave her 7's and 8's because???? We love you Dormeshia! I would love to take a class from her

I have seen her dance & I've worked with her!!! What she said about the judges not being informed enough about tap is SOOO true. I get it all the time at dance competitions. She's amazing & those "judges" don't know shit! She has proven herself plenty of times.
wow i love tap dancing! if my studio offered it i would take it. she's amazing! love how the chinese judge barely says anything he always makes me laugh. and im glad the russians know a lot about dancing, for this show in general, since there's lots of great dance in that country. :) shes' awesome
I was so mad when I watched it when it aired on tv!!! She was AMAZING!!!! Obviously that judge had no idea what she was talking about.
she got jipped on the scores but all of us in the tap world are proud dormeshia your amazing

We all know the steps that she did took alot of precision and practice, she is an absolutely amazing tap dancer and person......... The general public judges didn't know enough about tap to appreciate her talent. It's so hard to make tap look so effortless with those steps.......

I really don't understand why she got such bad marks - as you said, her steps and beats were perfect, she is so accurate but elegant at the same time, and above all she was really enjoying it..
i so agree with you guys on this even though i have danced with sean robinson he dosent have the awsomeness that dormeshia has i would kill to tap that good who gives a shi.t about looking flashy like the australian guy and i am australian and im saying this she is a legend both her and omar her husband if only one day i could be tought by such awsomeness lol

Girlfriend, you have more talent in your little toe than all those judges put together. That is a fact. You have a lot of class too.

I agree, I think the judges were right.
dormeisha is an incredible artist, and I agree with her assessment about the judges not being informed. of COURSE the only judge who gave her a good score was the one from Ireland, the country that invented a similar dance form and therefore understands tap.
ridiculous.
Why Did you put tap dancing on insded of the Cool guys?
Dormeshia is the Quintessential example of American Tap. So many of the judgess had no clue what they were looking at. They gave the boy from Australia a higher score and his musicallity was all wrong. Dormeshia is one of the best!!!!! tappers in the world, and those judges insulted her because her performance was flawless. Support Tap, because in the World, and Tap is not considered true dance and that is just wrong! Go Dormeshia! Your Awsome!!!

That's quite remarkable, HEELS and all!! With all due respect to the Australian tapper, it certainly was no where near as good as this performance.
I was pretty upset by this... half the judges obviously had little to no education in tap at all... I agree with Ireland.
She got cheated, gyped, bamboozled, & ripped off. She should still be on the show, but whatever. She still has a future beyond some shitty TV program.
I thought she was fantastic! Good for her for telling those judges they dont' know anything about tap dancing, because they don't!! Who are these judges anyway? Do they even dance themselves?
If she's a 7, then what are the rest of us? Negative 14?
she definitely did a great job on the tap.. it does take a lot of effort and hard work to be able to tap out the music with the speed and precision the way that she did.. so from that point of view, the judges were a bit too harsh... but i don't think the judges doubted her taping skills... but more the way she presented them... there was lack of visual composition, choreography... she just just tapped mostly in one spot on the stage... not very entertaining... there was no story, no drawing....

yeah the south african judge was way to stuck on himself.. and that Terrence Trent Darby look alike..
Because he doesn't know how to speak much English but a few words.

and some chinese monks who did martial arts to music did better? ridiculous.
