- An artistic symbol of today's globalizing world, the young dynamic BHARATA NATYAM- dancer,Mythili Prakash is taking the dance world by storm. Born and brought up in the US and trained by her mother, renowned Bharata Natyam dancer, Viji Prakash, Mythili is considered one of the brightest young stars of the field in India, and is steadily gaining recognition in Europe, Canada, and the US. Hailed a child prodigy, Mythili Prakash began her career as a dance performer at the age of eight. Her passion and focus toward presenting he beauty, grandeur, vibrancy and spirituality of traditional Bharata Natyam, combined with her youthful energy, and "modern" perspective, have shaped her art into one described by critics as : "suave and contemporary.... a happy blend of Western Stage craft and Indian Aesthetics..."(The HIndu, Chennai, 2007).

For coming from America, where the Bharatanatyam standards are considerably lower than in India, Mythili is someone completely uniquely talented who could easily complete with an Indian dancer! Fabulous dancing, and I loved the constantly changing expressions while she was dancing!
divine and perfect.....judges just have no idea that every movement by hand, eyes, legs actually says something. Its a whole language in itself. It is one the most difficult dances to learn.Takes years and years of practice. She has perfected it!!!!
Am a bharata natyam artist, pls understand that we have , abstract as well as narative, this is abstract work. Thank you
beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! im so happy they showed real classical dancing instead of the crap they imitate on so you think you can dance!
superb. I wish they had placed a brighter spotlight on her though..
SO GOOD
gorgeous!
Great perfection in d movemnts.....am a great fan f dis dancer....
Great!
Bharatnatyam isnt all about being slow or fast. The music was great...her expressions were lovely and most of all she perfected every single move...even tho it was slow...nothing was SLOPPY. it was neat and precise. Im pretty she can dance faster than this.
It was slow? Maybe for a viewers Idk...but she danced in Aadi-taalam which is highest speed in Bharatnatyam
absolutely stunning!!!
@almondburfi I agree that the judges probably wouldn't know how to judge any style of dancing that they're not familiar with, but I gotta say as an American I think Mythili is an amazing bharatanatyam dancer dancer.
Hats off! Well done!! Instead of the Tomb (Taj Mahal), the backdrop should have been a temple.
What's wrong with having Taj Mahal in the bg, even that is as much a part of India as temples.
anybody knows wheres the music piece from? its awesome
does anyone know what song this is/
wow......
ohh my god...its takes time to digest the routine. ..she is beyond perfection
this song is beautiful which song it is?? plzz
How come the dance attire is Kuhipudi instead of BharataNatyam, hmm perhaps I am missing something here.
Bharatanatyam on American television = disaster. I doubt most Americans can understand the beauty of this dance form.
I was wondering what the name of the song is??? any idea????
SONG?????????????????????????????????????????????? PLEASE
U know finnaly which is the song??
This horrible stage was an insult to this divine dance form and her exceptional performance.
When this show aired I couldn't help feel cheated, I don't know how it was for the other countries but the performers who represented India were not really the best that India has to offer, no not even close. I am not saying the were not good, but we have way better artists out here. I recall the judges not liking her performance, and agreeing to it, and also being frustrated.
This comment is so disrespectful. Way better artists? Probably. But its so disgusting that people think classical is easy
I've seen better...she is so slow
Do you guys even have any idea who are saying she's so slow? Perform and see, you'll know better
gorgeous!
gorgeous!
