I bought these headphones together with a good dac/amp. They're not only fantastic for producing/mixing. But they also perform outstanding with gaming, movies and music.
And the comfort is from another world. I have never worn a headset so light and comfortable.
3:45 we need more cable stuff like this, and it's probably the best ever cable thing you guys have done with the HD300 Pro, and now these too, no more headphones falling off from a slight tug, straight cable or coiled

Everyone is going to buy these thinking their audiophile headphones when they are designed for critical listening for music production. Which has plain Jane no colouring approach, so it doesn't confuse you with artificial artifacts keeping a true representation of the mix. Well that's what studio monitoring is supposed to be. Thanks sennheiser for looking out for the guys in the chair ❤

Nah I don't think so, Sennheiser tried many times to dethrone the king but came up short time and again, let's see how these play out first, but I don't think so.

@@sennheiser No headphones can ever come close to dethroning the king. Sennheiser themselves have tried but failed. It's clear that the king reigns supreme, and there's no competition.
So many comments about dethroning the king i.e HD600 but imo I like the 660s2 more than both 650 and 600. This is coming from a huge 6x0 fanboy. With the 600 you hear the recording, but for music enjoyment 660s2 beats it imo.
i will order/buy this when it arrive on my country. But Im curious, i have the Old version of hd560s, is the hd490 pro consider a big upgrade?

I'm here to make wish. The HD 490 Pro are seriously one of the most comfortable headphones ever I think, and I would love to be able to purchase a replacement covers for the ones found inside the earcup but without the L & R protruding letter, because some of us are unlucky and have big ears that keep touching the those letters.
I know it's such a small issue but I'm a huge fan of what you made and I doubt I will find anything better for my needs, so if Sennheiser decided to make a replacement and sell them for a price that is economically viable for them I would gladly buy a pair. Please let the people in charge know.

While I don’t know of any plans to create a version without the L and R embossed, it wouldn’t surprise me to see some aftermarket options crop up after some time. @@robb.blumenreder Thank you very much for your consideration. Some people already experimented with replacing the two inserts inside the cup but that resulted in slight change to the sound.
If Sennheiser offered replacements without the protruding part I will be happy to purchase them.

When are we getting the successor to the HD 800S? I didn't like neither the HD 820 or HD 8XX.

I want the HD 600s with a closed back version! Closest thing were the 599s but you discontinued them.
Indeed.
The only serious closed-backs Sennheiser make are the HD 25 and HD 280 Pro (the 599 are also open-backs). Both are "good", but neither is on the level of a HD 600.
There's two gaping holes in Sennheiser's portfolio: a closed-back HD 600 equivalent and a proper, new HD 700. I am sure both would sell like hot cakes if they made them.
We can hope-the HD 490 Pro are the first new pair by original Sennheiser (instead of the Sonova consumer audio division) and they seem to be good. Let's see what they come up with next.

okay so what is the difference between Sennheiser Hearing vs Sennheiser? NVM I think the regular sennheiser is the professional products and the Regular Sennheiser hearing is their consumer grade! makes sense now... lol just confusing to see two different websites! The 490 is the answer to the 6 and dare I say 800 series! the 490 is awesome even for casual listening

Can someone from sennheiser confirm is the eq curves shown in this video are accurate? I just purchased these and the documentation states that these frequency response is actually flipped. Which is confusing because the document shows the producer pad set being more linear where this video is showing the opposite.
It’s definitely not as clear in the video as on the HD 490 PRO box because of the lack of a scale, but maybe I can help out. In the video, you’ll notice a mark to the left of each graph where a 0dB reference would be at 2:15. The producing pads show frequencies up to (and slightly above) the next reference line up (5dB) with a much different response to ~800Hz when compared to the mixing pads, which are flatter up to 1K in comparison. You’ll also find that the high end on the mixing pad dips a few dB in the 4-7kHz range as well… Side-by-side they tend to look similar at first glance, but I hope that reference mark will help answer your concern (if you’re seeing something different somewhere, please let us know and thank you for the feedback!)
@@robb.blumenreder Thank you for the response. What I was comparing was what was stated in the HD 490 PRO Plus_Compliance Sheet print out that came with my headphones this week. It must be a typo because it has the frequency curves flipped so the mixing pads are showing the producer frequency and vice versa. I did download the compliance sheet off the website and it looks like this has been corrected and matches whats shown in the video here.
Is it a 3 pin of 4 pin mini-xlr.

Hi Matthias - the HD 490 PRO has 4-pin mini XLR connectors on each ear cup so you can swap the locking cable from the left to the right side based on your preference. A balanced cable will be available as an optional accessory - stay tuned for more details…

Is the only difference between the 490 Pro and 490 Pro Plus the extra accesories?
Yep! You can find an overview @04:31 in the video, but here's a recap: HD 490 PRO comes with the headphone with a 1.8m cable, a set of Producing Pads and Mixing Pads. The HD 490 PRO PLUS adds a 3m cable, replacement head pad (this matches the Mixing Pad fabric) and a Protective Case. Both versions also come with a copy of DearVR Mix-SE Plug-In, too.
When will it be available in India??

is the headband machine washable?
As with the ear pads, the pad on the headband is also washable - please use a delicates bag if you're doing machine washing. You can see one of the replacement pads @04:38, which comes with the HD 490 PRO PLUS version.
A closed back version is needed for those of us that live in noisy environments or just work while traveling etc.
Our HD 490 Pro is designed specifically as open-back to give clarity needed for critical listening, mixing and mastering decisions within a studio. If looking for a closed-back headphone for noise/travel we recommended our HD 280 Pro.

I am a fun of headphnes or earphnes coz i love listening to music and watchng movies. Tried one before hence i knw the great sound of a senn. This senn 490 might be excelent but the price is too prohibitive for me. Just bide my time til its cost gets lower close where i can aford it or wait for someone to sell it 2nd hand😅😂lol

The HD4xx lines are for mainstream closed back headphones
The 'S' in their products stands for "symmetrical", meaning balanced. The hd490 is not a balanced headphone, nor is it a successor to the hd600. Therefore it could not be called the 'hd600s'.

I'm wearing these right now, they are definitely not "anti bass".
I have HD6xx drop ver and 660s2. I’m only a music listener.

How is s2 compared to 6xx? I got 6xx and its bad compared to my monarch mk 3
