I can't believe how quickly Colin went from "I never saw Pen other than a friend" to hooking up in the carriage and proposing ! And it all shifted because of a random kiss ? It felt so rushed I'm very disappointed..
Probably in part 2 we will focus on the Whistledown story, I hope it will save the part 1. I can't wait to see more of the Francesca and Kilmartin romance though, at least that was well done!

@@Chubby-cat- The Polin storytime is felt very rushed, but after what they did in the carriage, in this, era, if he did not ask her to marry him that would have been inappropriate. COlin has a strong sense of responsibility (in season 1 her wanted to marry just because a poor girl was pregnant because he felt bad for her basically), so it would have been weird for him not to ask her hand. I guess they needed to wrap this part of the story real quick before part 2...but I would have loved more development. The tension in season 2 was everything and this felt a bit short.

I think if we had more scenes of Colin having dreams about Penelope, it would be better to show the change from friends to lovers, Like him having dreams about their childhood, moments of connection and maybe some spicy dreams too 👀👀 kk so the scene where he says he sleeps to find her would be more impactful

I think that before Collin and Penelope get married he will find out about lady whistle down, there will be some big drama but they will get married and she will get pregnant, also hopefully it talks about him wanting to be a writer idk if the whole town will find out who she is though like the books. Francesca is going to move away, with John Sterling at the end after some drama with Queen Charlotte, Violette is going to move to the country and get married to Lady Danberrys husband or at least move. Because it's setting up for Eloise and bennadicts' love story's cuz there both in the country, I even think next season could be both of their season, and then after that, Francescas. Anthony and the vicountess are going to take over Bridgerton house next season as well as be pregnant.

I feel like people who aren't invested in the Polin ship at the beginning of the show won't like season three because their relationship has slowly evolved over the seasons, so if they skipped over those parts during seasons 1-2 so they can get to the main plot, season three is going to feel lackluster cause they haven't been invested in the developed friendship and drama between the Colin and Pen . But those fans who watch seasons one - three (part 1) in one sitting will understand the development from all the seasons that lead up to this point. Of course, fans of the books get more background and more insight into the character's feelings. But as a person who has read "Romancing Mr. Brigerton," I really love the show's writers' take on it cause it feels more realistic compared to the book, which is very fanfic-y to me. Also, I feel like they HAD to give the characters space to realize what they want and give more depth to the romantic feelings, and inserting other love stories and subplots was the best move on their part.

      @RPGMelodySage Před 16 dny +16

@@iamnotjack.whydidichange That is a good question. I never said I liked that part of the story, but I interpreted some of her actions as desperation. As much as we romance that time period, women had specific roles in society, and were very limited in what kind of future they had. Her family is willing to do horrible actions, trapping a man, to guarantee a certain quality of life. Women are described as gossips so when that was one thing she had, loved to write, and turned it into a business - I was impressed by that. No one expects that of her and she was trying to have some type of control on her own life. So if her family just burned the future to the ground, she would be able to take care of herself. She even says no one sees her and her self-esteem was so low that she couldn't depend on marriage or the possibility of finding love. She had to make her own options so I think, with no one to truly talk to, she made decisions thinking those were her only options. I hope to see some healing for her so she realizes her worth isn't defined by people who don't care about her, and she, in a way, saves herself. I think she wants to be a good person but good people can still make bad decisions. Even her Mom is all business and struggles to give her comfort - so annoying.

Honestly? It’s not that bad. But I feel like the only reason for that is because of how well the actors act and because of the themes portrayed in the characters’ dresses and looks.
The storylines that fans wanted most was of Polin, Eloise and Penelope and phases of Kathony honeymoon
Instead we got a lot of Francesca, Benedict and even the Mondrichs
I don’t understand what was the need of not making Polin interact after their kiss and then just suddenly moving on to a proposal
Unlike season 2, I didn’t feel the same amount of excitement and I felt like I wasn’t rooting for the ship enough. With Kathony, their dynamic, interactions and chemistry was just unmatched. It was perfect, nothing seemed rushed and random.

Honestly, I felt that Polin didn’t get enough screen time and it came across as though the only reason he proposed was because he enjoyed the kiss, to me. It feels as though he’s kind of (and I’m sorry🤷🏾‍♀️) operating out of lust.
The carriage scene was slightly overhyped and came kind of early in my opinion. Or rather, it felt undeserved. Also the confession… I’m sorry it didn’t hit the way it was meant to.
I received more Lord Debling and Penelope content, yet it’s Polin season. Idk. Too many side plots that felt unnecessary like Benedict and Lady Tilly, Lady Danbury’s brother and Violet Bridgerton and last, Francesca. Their storylines are good and worthy of being told but I feel like right now wasn’t the time to tell them as extensively.
I really hope part 2 has us see WHO Colin is. WHY his sentiments towards Penelope have changed other than the kiss yk? Plus I needed more groveling from Colin and more lessons which would’ve led them to at least explore more of Colin’s journals and his “purpose”.
    Also… proper felt rushed.
However, love the cast, love Polin’s acting. I feel like there’s chemistry. Just need more of them honestly. Can’t believe I have to wait a month!!!

    1. No one can outdo Kantony ! They were just perfect.
    2. Penelope didn't have to come across as being so unsteady and awkward. It is Cressidas third season and she looks so much more confident in comparison. And this is Lady Whistledown we are talking about, not just Penelope!
    3. Colin needs to stop making weird faces. He needs to soften those lovers' gazes. Too intense and honestly, he isn't even looking at Pen to convey anything.
    4. The featheringtons aren't interesting this season. They haven't given mama bear much spice.
    5. While I like how shy or reserved Francesca is, she won over the queen quite easily with a pianoforte?
    6. Eloise and Cressida seem strangely paired up. Eloise can clearly see on multiple occasions how Cressida is a farce faced woman, yet she is rather too kind to keep that friendship in place because she is too cross with Pen?
    7. Benedict is my least fav main character as of now. He just smiles and falls for the ecentric woman every season. His dreamy smile is repetitive now.
    8. Mama bridgerton seems like last season. Loving, reassuring and reasonable!
    9. The queen has no zeal to unmask Lady Whistledown?? Why ?!

it was nice to watch but as a romantic myself, I would have written this part differently, I expected more connection, passion, self-discovery, fight for love, more expression of love and feelings, make the characters worthy of each other.
I didn't like Colin's portrayal as going to prostitutes and having threesomes, nor the 'steamy' carriage sequence and I felt everything else rushed too..My focus went on Francesa and her young love for the new Earl, rather than focusing on Penelope and Colin. I thought of Colin and Penelope as pure young people, saving themselves for love and marriage, different from the rest of the couples within the old times society, they cherished their friendship, trusted and respected each other. changing a character's personality, considering that Colin's one was very well established, it made him look like a totally different person. give this couple their personality and dignity back.
I prefer to see their love gradually developing, discovering the feelings they have for each other, especially his feelings for her and what she means to him and what they have in common, rather than pushing quickly with intimate sexual moments. Sadly, the script didn't make their bond and connection convincing and genuine. I prefer less sexual scenes between them and seeing more talk, more love, what do they expect from their future together, to see them chatting more before touching each other in a sexy desire way.
I wanted to understand what actually brought them closer, how he remembered their history together, how their friendship started, how it progressed, how he sees her after all these years, did he realise that she had feelings for him before? if yes, when? we didn't see that on the screen. he should have found out somehow that she loved him all these years, reason to love and adore her more, this is a reason for marriage. before he wants her physically, what does he actually feel for her? can we see Penelope through his eyes and what does she mean to him as a woman, what does he like about her personality? for these people true and honest untainted love was their life purpose, that's why pushing this couple so quickly into sexual scenes kills their chemistry and love story.
I actually think they lacked chemistry because of the script, although they look nice together on screen. I also think, given these 2 people, there was so much potential to articulate their love, I would have never thought that while Penelope was older and mature, she was still innocent, virgin and introvert and would not allow him to touch her so soon, make him wait, make him wait more, be worthy and desire her truly. Given his personality, I thought that he would not want to be inappropriate with her, not until their feelings are clear and they grow closer to discover each other. these were very good old friends and one expects that they would firstly discover who is the other person when they are not in a friendship relationship before moving on to the next step. firstly, he must deserve her and secondly, she must be convinced that Colin actually has fallen in love with her...can someone rectify their love story in the second part of season 3?

    Dearest gentle reader,
Some may quip, that the details revealed thus far, in the drama unfolding in the ton is rather lack luster. Some may even despair at the lack of groveling by one Mr. Colin Bridgerton towards Ms. Penelope Featherinton.
Be that as it may, it has come to this authors attention that the best is yet to come.
Whispers have revealed that a former cruel adversary was cut off financially by her frustrated lord father for not being able to secure a marriage for a third straight season.
In what can be only described as a desperate last ditch effort to lay claim to a recent £5000 bounty offered by her majesty, she has chosen to abandon her new more gentile image and revert back to the back stabbing bully she's always been.
She's attempted to blackmail others in an effort to reveal this authors identity. What she's failed to realize, however, is above all else, Love conquers ALL.
    ~Lady Whisteldown

I wish there was more time spent on Lord Debbling courting Pen. She deserves all the kindness and sweetness he treats her with!! I wanted Colin to spend more time jelous & to have to work harder to get her back.
I overall have loved the season so far, especially since I rewatched seasons 1&2 beforehand so that helped build up the tension before season 3 started.

    • @Julie-hf4ch
      @Julie-hf4ch Před 13 dny

it was nice to watch but as a romantic myself, I would have written this part differently, I expected more connection, passion, self-discovery, jelousy, fight for love, more expression of love and feelings, make the characters worthy of each other.

I don't know why ppl seem to love nitpicking so much. Their expectations are sky high I suppose. I loved the new season. Absolutely loved the scenes and the development b/w Colin and Penelope. The carriage scene was just 🔥 and romantic at the same time. Also I'm surprised I didn't find Eliose that cruel as I expected which I love it. They will most likely to reconcile soon though I wonder how Colin will react after knowing that Penelope is Lady Whistledown.
The downside I feel is I wasn't invested into that other family with a man having a bar one. Franchesca storyline is okay. Featherington sis are boring while sometimes funny to me. The Bridgertons are always interesting. Yes, I also wished there would be more Polin scenes. A scene or two of them passionately discussing about something then laughing and Colin noticing her smile and just bit by bit realizing that he likes her. And Penelope about how she always loved him. Anyway I'm sure part 2 will cover that up.
Overall, I really loved s3, just how I loved the previous seasons. I think ppl could be disappointed because they expected the same but all storylines Re different from one another. I love that difference

Colin plays his cards close to his chest. Major outbursts of jealousy aren’t his thing. He tries to blend into the woodwork. Look at season 2 with Lord Fetherington. He did the hero save out of sight so that all might save face.
I don’t like the prostitute angle, but the writers are trying to show not tell. Books allow you to tell. Maybe more of his journal would have been a better move. His conversation with the other gentlemen suitors about being “cavalier” is also a subtle nod to this side of him that sexual feelings are separated from connection & affection. It is what he has been taught is normal. See his rakish brothers.
Yes, carriage does resonate with trying the moves with the prostitutes with Pen instead. I feel like he’s trying to understand how friendship/connection and passion can both flourish. He knows the other women portray what he wants to see.
Pen just is Pen. To see her react to his advances is starkly different. Pen who is constant. Pen who is quietly there. Pen who believes in him. Pen who wants the best for him suddenly just wants him. He doesn’t compete for her attention. Knowing the hinting of the mirror scene, especially with Pen’s comments leading up to their first kiss, he wants her to see herself as he does. She’s not a stupid girl who has no chance at love. She, to him, is a wonder, an enigma of beauty, kindness, resilience… and he wants her to see that.
Colin is obsessed with finding his purpose. They both are really. And yet, the only purpose for this match is that the hey truly enjoy each other. Colin does not need to marry. Pen was not expected to marry until she declared that is what she must do. In a way, the match fries both their brains: the purpose is purely pleasure of each other’s company, love, and seeking the best for both. The most unnecessary of matches becomes the most necessary element of their lives. Connection is vital for these two.

I must protest! :D In Season 2 Colin says: “I would never DREAM of courting Penelope Featherington!” This is not simply saying I would never do it in a million years. It means and for sure intentionally so, that he would never court that girl, because he feels he’s not enough. Colin’s character is somebody who does not really know who he is yet. He tries to find his purpose and get to know himself through his travels. He thinks if he knows more of the world he will know more of himself. Which is partly true but he also puts on a mask, which he thinks fits every time he arrives back to town. All in all in Season 3 Colin overcompensates his lack of confidence with a mask of masculinity. Same as people lurking on social media hungry for likes in order to feed their needs of appreciation. I find it extremely funny to watch the regency era version of this phenomenon in Season 3, Episode 1 when Colin does his rounds with the ladies using his one liners and then the camera shows the ladies' reactions how funny, charming, cute, hot etc. this Colin is. :D :D :D They are like living emoticons.

Let me start by saying this is so NOT my kind of show and I randomly started watching Season 1 just as the new season is about to begin. I binged the first season. Bridgerton is a modern day view of women saying, "this is how we are treated and feel" but taking the issues happening in the 2020s and shoving in the early 1800s in a time that actually treated women horribly and created humor and fun and slowly showing you how little women have progressed in over 200 years. The show mixes teen dramedy, mean girls, Harry Potter vibes with gossip columnist narration by Julie Andrews, with Cinderella predictable storylines, love sex and nudity and then writes about modern day issues but flops it into the 1800s Victorian, high society visuals that shouldn't work at all, but boarders on brilliant. What ties it all together is outstanding casting, colorful costumes and the race blind high society "isshues" and a script that finds clever ways to make fun of everything. For example, while high society people are waltzing across the floor to a beautiful orchestral number, the song sounded familiar. It was Madonna's Material Girl.

Not that I care or want to watch dudes doing it with prostitutes but even their interacts seem unnecessary and most certainly flat. Then there’s the story, please focus on one couple. I don’t understand Francesca, nor do we know her especially because she was barely mentioned or it the first two seasons. She is so peculiar that she needs her own season to flush herself out. Whoever edited this season needs a lesson on pacing so moments were uncomfortably too long and some scenes were so abrupt it took me out of the moment.

Colin gave very brief compliments to Pen. I also loved the friendship with elosie and the mean girl. I loved how they developed the mean girls back story. I also loved Francescas comfortable silence with her suitor. Benedicts and the family who inherited money could of been taken out of this season. I also hated the fact as if Penelope couldn't find a suitor and she was made as it she was so awkward. I will say I did get some passion in the cartridge ride though😅

I love Polin. I also enjoyed Lord Deblin, Cressida and John Sterling's scenes. I actually wish for more Cressida and Francesca. They both seem more interesting and in depth ladies than meets the eye. Eloise annoyed me. She's smart enough to understand Lady Whistledown she just refuses to do so.

If season 3 has 3 love stories, it will dilute Colin and Penelope's love story. They have other Bridgerton characters that can give us a glimpse into their lives after their seasons in which they were main characters and other interesting secondary characters in this show.

this season was rushed I prefer Francesca's love story rather than Collin and Pens season 1 was just so much better

I do think the show is trying to introduce too many new storylines into this season (Francesca and Benedict and Violet, oh my!), but I am really happy with Polin. IMO, the two actors’ performances are great and the chemistry is there in plenty! I just wish these two had “their” season a bit more to themselves.

Just a little info here ..
Penelope never wrote Theo's name. She just wanted to protect Eloise because it was taboo back then for someone in high society to pair up with someone from a lesser status. Penelope's execution might be wrong but her intention wasn't malicious. If Eloise's reputation was truly ruined then she should've been shunned by the ton but she wasn't. Even Cressida Cowper is friends with Eloise. Theo on the other hand would've had a miserable time if Penelope had written his name.

I think we tend to forget that this is just the beginning, this is not it. Hence it is part 1
