Rings Of Power. a show that requires you to be familiar with the books to understand references and their importance. while making you hate the show because you read the books and know they get nothing right
That was a very good summary!
It's almost like it was purposefully designed to punish anyone for knowing more than some casual fantasy viewer.
spot on lol
oh cmon how can you not like the moment when guyladriel says "ThErE iS a TeMpEsT iN mE"' sounds very book accuraty tbh
@@darwinxavier3516 I don't know if I'd say 'punish' but this very much feels like it's expecting people to be familiar with just the Jackson movies, rather than the books and is at most taking inspiration from the extended indexes.
The Harfoots bragging about never leaving anyone behind while they have a book full of names of people left behind just cracked me up 😂
Cognitive dissonance to the extreme 😅
Did they actually say nobody gets left behind? I thought they said "nobody goes off trail and nobody walks alone." Which sounds like a nice philosophy until you realize it's more of a threat. "Nobody goes off trail...OR ELSE!"
They are the SADFOOTS!
@@williamscott2580 it wasnt a crime. in fact, it was famously made into a crime later on.
even more so, plenty don't consider it a crime to this day. specifically the same ones who were selling them from way before.

This was way better written than the actual show!
Oh I bet!
Thats not difficult.
@@LuffyuzumakiPotter Totally, a lot of people (ie ACTUAL storywriters) can do better. I can do better than that show. My heroes are actual heroes for one thing.
@@celeben9463
Some aspects of the show remind me of what Mark Twain wrote about the scene in J. Fenimore Cooper's _The Deerslayer_ wherein six men try to ambush a raft but really screw the pooch--and the stream is unrealistic: "The scow episode is really a sublime burst of invention; but it does not thrill, because the inaccuracy of details throw a sort of air of fictitiousness and general improbability over it." For "scow episode" substitute "volcano sword".
@@KororaPenguinOhh that's where the volcano sword comes from.
There were so many great references in this one. It's hard to pick a favorite, but "Are we the baddies?" is just a classic.
True, didn't see that coming
They're not sporting skulls on their attire so they should be safe... In telling themselves that they aren't but regarding how the show portrayed them... Not so much.
Now if someone could photoshop that skull-featuring coffee mug or something like that into Galadriel's hand...
I mean... most of the "good" people in LotR are from settler-colonial states. Even the movies explicitly draw attention to how the Dunlendings were driven out of their own lands by the Rohirrim (who themselves were "gifted" that land by the rulers of Gondor).
Tolkien was definitely far from being a Nazi, but the attitudes of his time bled through into his work.
@@cass7448 Attitudes of every time. It's just common sense. We just happen to live in a culture that despises common sense in favor of good feelings and pretending we are so much different than the natural world or our horrible ancestors who got us here.
Things will come full circle again.
@@fortusvictus8297 What do you mean?
Lets root for Sauron. He seems like a nice dude compared to others.
At least he is more loyal to his servants than harfoots are to each other
It’s so weird how they managed to f up so much that inherent evil has become a character we support more than people who represent good usually. My god these writers annoy me
@@richardmangelmann4975 that's becuz they intended to create plots, but they made it so artificial, and failed. They write the characters based on the pre-determined ending. And the evil characters are not going to make stupid things cuz they know what they are doing. So, that only left the good characters to stir things up a bit and make some shits before they can finally realize that they need to team up together. Just lame with all this money wasted. They should really learn from the HoTD team that puts in work, and has passion in it. The Amazon team gives me the feeling that they are arrogant, thinking money can solve everything, no viewership in their eyes.
He's definitely less annoying than Galadriel.
thats not coincidental or just a mistake in a very long and expensive production
It started with the forging of the Great films, The threads were given by Tolkien, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. The rights were granted to Jackson, the great movie director and craftsman of the Tolkien lore. And nine, nine hours were given to the race of men, who above all else desires quality. But they were all of them deceived, for another show was made. In the Land Amazon, in the fires of Mount Prime, The Dark lord Bezos forged in secret, a Master Flop. And in to this show he poured his money, his greed and his will to dominate all fandom, ONE SHOW TO RUIN THEM ALL

Its a responsibility to stay with the group, not a promise that your individual whims will be supported by the rest of the group. I don't understand how so many don't get this ... oh, wait, yes I do. We live in a world where everyone expects their individual whims to be supported fully.

To be honest, ‘He can’t turn into a giant eye, he’s too sexy’ is one of the best descriptions of Sauron taking the guise of Annatar that I’ve ever heard.
That's how he tricked the elves.

Absolutely, he Disa and Elrond are just gold on screen
Only one that is mildly likeable the rest range from forgettable (pop quiz, what is Isildur's sister's name?) to horrible people that are supposed to be the heroic leads (Galadriel).
Durin and Elrond are the best pert of the show
They had the rights to a whole bunch of interesting lore from the appendices, basically given the answers to the exam, but chose to handicap themselves by:
* Making it about lore they don't have rights to
* Needlessly shoving thousands of years into one series
* Pointlessly force in hobbits and Gandalf for memberberries
* Having the plot drive the characters instead of vice versa
* Nonsensical story lines, some that go nowhere
* Maliciously butchering whatever lore, feel/form (elves should have long hair, period), and internal logic of the world that's left
* Gaslighting fans with openly hostile and terrible marketing, incapable of even acknowledging valid criticism
Those self-inflicted points alone spawn a million problems that appear everywhere in every single episode. It's an abomination. Not even with the most dedicated fan edit can this be mended. What was done here is criminal, nay, dare I say, _patently evil_ .

Has anyone here taken a look at Aegon from HotD? A whole bunch of people thought that his permanent smirk was created with prosthetics. No! The actor does look like that.
I think this is the most positive trailer on this channel because it presents the show in a neutral light xD.
Cause, you know, calling Amazon's plans for the Rings of Power a defilement of the IP creator's corpse is "neutral". Sadly, you just can't be too harsh on a diversity stuffed cast online, hence the "neutrality". But I would point out- all the elves should be black is a REALLY big dig at the so-called "diversity" of Rings of Power. Race swapping all the elves to black would have made WAY more sense- and provided WAY more non-tokenism opportunities for diverse actors- than the small pockets of racial diversity in supposedly homogenous, relatively small communities that were depicted. But strange pockets of wildly diverse small communities versus diversity between country/RACES is not representative of the real world, right?
These shows aren't "woke" or "progressive", they're interpretations of what HIGHLY conservative minds THINK is progressive. Look no further than the producer- Amazon- for proof of how anti-progress this show is from the foundation up.
ARE THERE SERIOUSLY GOING TO BE 5 SEASONS OF THIS????
Hysterical! Loved every second of the video.
7 minutes had more entertaining than 8 hours of this show
Diarrhea I had yesterday was more fun than this show.
Guys that was gold. Not one bad joke. I’m totally cackling like a maniac at work right now. I love you guys.
The "Are we the baddies?" punchline made me pause the video I was laughing so hard. The lead-up was brilliant.
@@austinkoos6842 Killed me :D
I must say that given all the material to use to troll on the show for the usual content we expect to see in an Honest Trailer, I am quite disappointed with this one and can’t help but wonder if they were instructed to take it easy (either by Amazon or by the Screen Junkies producers, that have links to Amazon). This is definitely one of the weaker Honest Trailers they’ve ever done.
The "Scrooge McDuck cartune" reference cracked me up and forced me to pause the video.
I hadn't laughed that hard since the meta reference in the She-Hulk video.
I even laughed at the "ugh" part
You went a bit easy on them…just give me the meat, and give it to me raw!
"There are those who call me, tim" absolutely killed me XD
The stranger had me dying😂😂😂
People thought I was weird and made it up. Proof that it's real 😅
