Outdoor Shower! I leveled up our backyard with this refreshing build! This DIY video covers the whole process from framing the cedar structure, adding in a natural stone floor and then adding in the easy plumbing. Also check out a great tip to protect wood posts from decay and rot. And bonus that this shower now blocks our unsightly side yard!

First, it looks AMAZING! As a plumber in Texas however, there is a reason we do not use galvanized piping much anymore. I still love the look and replacement is simple, so I might suggest a di-electric conversion fitting at the hose to increase longevity. Brass into galvanized pipe will break down quickly in open air as they will begin sharing electrons across the dissimilar metals. Copper is more expensive, but would last exponentially longer in the Texas summers.
Thanks for the tips and kind words!
So you recommend the Brass end into Copper piping for the shower leg? Maybe the difficult part is getting it threaded, not entirely sure.
Galvanized piping is a must esp in texas...Brass into galvanized piping is fine and di electric conversion fittings are a myth...
@Andrew Freeman Brass into copper does not have the same issues because the metals are reasonably similar. Personally, for the cost, I would use a PEX connection from a split hose bib and come up with copper pipe because it is a natural material that does not break down as quickly in the elements.
@The Pretty Anxious KoKo There is a reason galvanized pipes in Texas no longer match code for residential structures. Especially in this instance, every time there is no water inside the pipe, a layer of rust will form that, then flakes off and creates pitting in the pipe. Enough times, a hole forms. Dielectric fittings are required by code.
Thanks. I thought I was finished with my back yard. Now it appears I have to build a shower too. Beautiful, professional work!
:) Thanks so much! Highly recommend the shower!
Beautiful 👏 and love that you go straight to the point and not talk a bunch. Love it!
Thank you!
Great idea! Plumber here, if you want warmer water, I live in the northeast, I’d replace that hose bib with a hot/cold faucet so it would be more comfortable and you could use it year round. Need a shelf to set your ‘shower beer’ on…….I mean, shampoo, body wash, etc.
I especially love the beer holder idea! The horizontal bracing 2x4's are perfect for drink holding. I've tested it a lot :)
Instead of using hot water you could just run a long length of black hose that’s exposed to the sun. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I was helping a neighbour replace some fencing between our two houses. I went to wash my hands off and sprayed them with his garden hose. Startled the L out of me as that water was HOT.
This is just what I need for my property. It gives me such encouragement to see that a woman built it. Hooray! 👍👍😃
Heck yeah! Thanks so much for watching :)
I'm waiting for the day you add hot water.
Sure it's miserably hot in Texas, but year round, you might want to give the dog a bath in this spot.
You can add a handheld shower attachment, and viola.
Stay tuned... the hot water addition is coming very soon!
I really like how you explain about rinsing off before getting in the pool. In my culture, everyone actually thoroughly bathes before getting into any pool or communal clean water.
I think it's a great idea! Makes sense. I try to encourage that for our pool. Thanks so much!
In America we have the same rules for public swimming pools etc. Swimmers are to throughly shower before entering pools. Children wearing diapers are not usually allowed unless they wear a special plastic diaper that goes over the actual diaper but more and more babies are not being allowed in pools. Additionally any persons who have recently been ill with a gastrointestinal condition or diarrhea within 14 days are not allowed to swim in public pools. Their are several pathogens like Cryptosporidium that cause many illnesses.
@@WildnUnruly In America I've seen people jump in the pool sweaty and full of sun screen. It's not clean.
My favorite is the "happy accident" It added a beautiful personal touch. You rock! 👍🏼
I love when accidents work out :) Thank you!!
Clamps are brilliant idea, thanks! Outdoor shower has always been on my list, summer or winter.
Great! I'm so glad to hear it. Thanks for watching and I hope you build one for yourself!
We did an outdoor shower, but added a tankless outdoor water heater and propane tank so we have hot water with it as well. It's great even on summer days in hot Tulsa!
Yessssss I've been contemplating this idea as well! So glad to hear that you like it. Thanks so much!
You could put copper pipes in the outside in a zig-zag pattern to make a solar heater and also use it as a trellis for a vine so it doesn’t get too hot in the summer (or just try it with a black hose which would be cheaper )
Got a video for how you installed that?
@ chrisbaier
I replied to woohunter’s post along the same lines. Just run a long length of black hose that’s exposed to the sun and you will get lots of HOT water.
I love your attention to detail.
You are a builder after my own heart ❤
I absolutely love this! I"ve been wanting to do this but, well, I thought it would be way harder than this. Of course, you made it look easier than it is too so....lol Thank you so much for sharing this. We've had so many hot days the last couple of years so this will be fantastic. Thanks again! 💖
You can do it! Thanks so much :)
Amazing job! You knocked that project out of the park. If I wasn’t a general contractor I’d absolutely have you do one for me! Keep up the good work. 💯
Thanks so much!
Love the “sleeve”, clamp, and your helper 😊Very inspiring. 🙏
Well done ma'am. Love the design and easy installation. Great video. I'd like to do something like this for my parents in their backyard. Again awesome video and God bless you.
Thank you Tony!
I did this at our place in the Philippines…outdoor showers are awesome! We also used Champagne Palms for some greenery.
I REALLY like the “pool” idea! I think your shower came together very well. Enjoy the summer.
Oh I bet the palms are gorgeous. Thank you so much!
This looks so cool.
Your shower looks beautiful. I recently added an outdoor shower next to my hot tub. I think it is worth the effort to have hot water also. It's fun to shower outside. Also it is good for getting the sand off after a trip to the beach.
Yeah I agree with all of this. Hot water would be worth the effort. I'm hoping to get do that down the road. Thanks so much :)
Love it! Very creative and well-executed.
Thank you so much!
Love your projects. When you mentioned guest changing, I thought a seat would have been nice to place changing clothes
Yes, a great point! A seat would be handy for several reasons. I'm thinking of making one for next season. Thanks!
Omg now that is on my to do list next to the outdoor sauna better tell the hubby I need more wood now 😂😂😂love it well done an thanks 😘
This is such an inspiring video! I wish you taught a class in building for beginners in using power tools etc. Your work is exquisite! Your shower is so beautiful; I love the cedar and your treatment of it. 💕
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :) And I'm happy to entertain beginner power tool information! Is there a specific tool you'd like covered? I've been entertaining doing that on my website. Thank you again!
Excellent job! I really enjoyed this video.
Thank you very much! Appreciate you watching!
Enjoyed the video and the great ideas. agree that the broken stone looks more natural (and probably better for non-slip) than if it were in one piece. The simple hacks of pocket screws and clip supports definitely raise the bar on the DIY game.
Thanks!
Yes - I want an outdoor shower! Thanks for the ideas.
I love this. And all of the detail included. Thank you for sharing. Good job!!!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Well.. thank you for a new weekend project! This was such an awesome idea and yours looks amazing! Also, thanks for the little tips you added.
You are so welcome! I love hearing this. Thank you for watching!
I miss my homeland 😢😢
Well Done !!!
Thank you!
Killer project!!!
Thanks so much!
Just found your channel and I'm hooked! You make it all look possible. Clear, complete instructions. I notice that you use a conglomeration of inexpensive tools. Most people could do wonders if they were sponsored by a company providing them with every specialty tool available but it's discouraging to the average DIYer who can't afford them. Great job!
I totally agree! I aim to make all of my builds accessible to most everyone using inexpensive tools :) Thank you so much and welcome!! Lots to come!
Me too…hooked! Keep up the great work!
Great build and the stone base is primo! We live near the beach so a knee level spigot to rinse sandy toes is a nice idea.
I like that idea! So handy in many situations, especially the beach. Thanks so much!
Is amazing!
Thank you!
Love mine , it has saved me a few times after surgeries where I couldnt lift legs up high enough to get over threshold of interior showers. I have hot/cold water.
Another great use! Thanks so much :)
You make it look simple and easy to do. Thx for sharing
Thank you for watching!
How cool 😎 goes great w tank pool, like your style & pencil cactus (have one) & u make it seem so easy. How long did it take to build ? Thanx for sharing keep cool & onto the next project girls ❣️
super awesome video and very easy to follow
I appreciate it! Thanks so much for watching
Really enjoyed watching your video. After experiencing another hot summer while doing some outdoor backyard projects ie., pavers, an outdoor grilling gazebo, I have decided to add an outdoor shower to area. I like the way you make use of clamps and 2x4's for supporting your posts. Just like I did recently. It's the little details such as the top plate on the walls, and the trim gives the structure a finished look. I'll be using copper for my supply line, and I will use composite planking for the floor. The structure will be made from cedar. Look forward to seeing more of your projects.
Thank you so much! You are going to love that shower :)
Came out so nice! What an awesome addition to your outside setup!!!
I think so too! Thank you as always Ethan :)
First video I'm watching, and I love it! The cracked stone looks great!
I'm so glad to hear it! That cracked stone was a happy accident for sure. Thanks so much, and thanks for watching!
Great video, Erin!! This is so well done!
Thank you so much Tina!!
Hi Tina!!! Happy impending birthday!!! x0x0
I'm jealous of this. It looks so nice :)
Maybe my favorite build :) Thanks!
One word SWEEEET.... Love that mini deck and pool setup in the back also.. Nice work❤
Thanks so much!
my god that is some of the best looking dirt I've ever seen
I love when the ladies' kick butt!! looks fantastic and loved the step by step. Would love this in NJ but will invest in the propane heat tank. Very entertaining! thanks.
Thank you!! I appreciate it!
Amazing build. It’s so pretty and so very functional 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! One of my favorite builds!
So beautiful
Very impressive! Kudos on a great project and top quality work. Looks great too!
Thanks so much!
You did such an awesome job, I love it 😍
Thank you!!
Wow that soil is so DARK
Muy buen trabajo chicas, felicitaciones totales 👏 👏💯✨️🎉 Quedó muy bonito 💖 Saludos desde Perú ❤️ 🇵🇪 😘 Gracias ✨️
Amazing project but I feel a door would have been useful. A sliding door seems best, I was actually looking forward to it but I realized it wasn't a part of the project. That way you'll be adding privacy and not leave yourself or guests vulnerable and then you've an added choice to either keep it open or close. Another suggestion I'd like to make is to cover the shower pipes(idk the actual term for this). Covering that long pipe will give it a finished and smooth look. Are there any videos of you where you talk about building sliding doors? I really wanna learn it for an upcoming project.
I love this so much, we are moving to georgia and added this as a must do diy project for our next home ty
It might be my most favorite thing at our house in the summer! Glad to hear it and thanks!
You make it look so easy
my grandmother was so strict about the house being clean my grandfather rigged up an outside shower with PVC pipe and the garden hose. lol. It was hilarious, but very practical.
Enjoyable video. Excellent way that you used exterior coatings to make the cedar weather protected.
Thank you!
Thank you for protecting your lungs. It never ceases to amaze me watching dudes breath in concrete dust which could (will over time) damage their lungs. Great explanation and to the point. Great work.
That drives me crazy too! It's not always convenient, but well worth it. Thinking of my future self, and hopefully inspiring others to also. Thanks!
This project turned out amazing.
Thank you so much. We absolutely love it :)
Definitely worthwhile emulating. Thankyou for sharing.
:) Thank you for watching!
Very thorough and inspiring! Thank you!
Thank you!
those top and corner trim pieces really level up the design
I think so too! So glad I added them. Thanks for watching :)
Inspirational!!! You are mad talented and clear.
Thanks so much!
How cool, when I designed my last house I added outdoor plumbing directly behind our master bathroom shower so that we had an outdoor shower and a place to wash the dogs, along with (because we live in Pismo Beach,California) a place to shower and clean wetsuits. Truthfully I enjoy the outdoor shower more than our indoor shower. Great video, I really appreciate the wood post sleeve tip. Thank you and take care.
I love it! I would do like you did and definitely plumb for an outdoor shower if building a new house. We agree - we love it more than the indoor showers. Thanks so much :)
@@MakerGray thank you for your reply. I wish I had your talent as a builder, but wood and I are not friends. So I leave it to talented/ Skilled people such as yourself. You and your partner will enjoy that shower especially this summer. Take care and Thank you Again. 🙏😎
That Post Saver sleeve is so cool. Thanks for sharing.
So glad you liked it! I'm a huge fan of the product. Thanks for watching!
You are amazing!!! Awesome resort vibe shower. 👍
Thanks so much! 😊
Absolutely beautiful
Maybe have a small camping stool to put things on or sit as a person changes
Great job!
I love the stool idea. Thanks!
Beautiful! You are so talented.
Thank you so much!
Sweeeet💯...forget using the indoor facilities...that would be my go-to all summer👍💜
Oh yes! That's what I'm thinking! I'm obsessed and haven't showered inside since building it! Thanks for watching :)
Great JOB! 👏👏👏
That’s a nice chill area! Great job.
It really is! Thanks so much!
I drain to the curb would help long term use 😊
Your skills are simply amazing
Thank you very much!
interesting idea congratulation from deep heart best wishes happy shower
Great job, very cool and you make it look so easy.
Thank you!
I'm considering something like this. Water is precious and very expensive where I live, so I would need to incorporate something to capture the runoff.
Great work! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
We built a very similar shower for use outside our seasonal trailer. It is a 4’ x 6’ enclosure that has a clear Lexan corrugated roof and we put a door on the front instead of the side opening like yours. We are in northern Ontario so hot water was a must to extend the shower season from early May into late October. The use of a propane tank less outdoor water heated means you can have a shower at the temperature you like, for as long as you like. We also used low voltage LED lighting in it for those late evening showers before turning in for the evening. It’s been a real game changer and this is our 4 season using it without any operational issues. Another nice feature is that the tank less water heater allows me to have hot water outside of the trailer quickly without lugging a bucket full from inside the trailer.
That sounds nice! I've definitely thought about a tankless heater. Thanks!
I’ve been doing DIY for a long time now, you do nice work.
Thank you very much!
Very professional
Great video with a strong knowledge of Carpentry. Amazing DIY video!
Thank you very much!
Good Job Sista! It really looks great.
Thank you!
Love they idea and you did a great job!!!!
Does the rock ever get to wet or mushy when showering? I am worried about drainage from the shower. Thank you for sharing
Not at all. Everything drains very well :) Very happy with it. Thanks so much!
Great Job...looks amazing and functional
Thanks!
Hang some artwork inside or a couple of hooks to hang something from. Very cool project. It would be very seasonal here in Oregon though.
Me and my wife cannot believe how amazing your work is. Amazing!!!!
Ahhh thank you both! I really appreciate it and thank you for watching!
Well done well done 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 maybe add a Sweet mirror
Super cool. Very nice. 👍🏼
Congrats! Pretty well done and looks very nice 👍
Thank you very much!
Phenomenal job start to finish!
Thanks so much!
Great looking shower, well done.
Thank you!
WOAH that umbrella thing was awesome!
Game changer to keep our pool cool!
Make sure that hose bib is truly grounded. Also for proper air circulation for ac unit, nothing should be within 2 ft of the edge. TX gets hot, need proper air flow for unit efficiency and longevity. I would have left the exterior bottom open for air flow and visibility if a critter or snake was in there.
That is my life long dream to have a outdoor shower. Someday, someday.
I hope you get one!
@Maker Gray thank you. That was nice of you to say.
love this idea! What shower head did you use?
I just used a standard inexpensive shower head from Home Depot. Nothing in particular for outdoors and it's worked great! Thanks so much!
Wow! Love it!
Thank you! 😊
Turned out great, good job!
Thank you!
Bravo! 🙌🏼👏🏼🤘🏼
New subscriber! 🤙🏼
Thanks so much and welcome!
We could be best buddies if you lived in NC. I love your ideas and work ethic.
It looks great!! I would add a few more hooks for clothes and/or towels
I love that idea! Thanks!
really cool
