  • In this episode I show how I re create the town scene , or the start of it. I add a row of houses, police station, school and vicarage as well as a Church and grave yard, along with lighting. I also want to give a shout out to two channels who I have found that are also just starting out on their layout and you may enjoy watching them as I do. Please check out @fentoncentral-ngaugewargam453 and @ThreeBridgesMR

    It was good to see the look of that section to the final look after all the work you did on it. It is looking great. You've made such a transformation of that space and I look forward to seeing the next section completed. Well done also on siting the church in an orientation that suits you. As far as I could discover (after extensive searching concerning the orientation of gravestones when I was building the graveyard at Grey Havens) there is no canonical law that says it must face east. It is custom and practice largely. Not all the christian churches in Edinburgh face the same way, even those that were built pre reformation. You've used the space better and Dai still has a nice place for his eternal rest. Stephen

      Now that's something I did not know Stephen so thanks for that. I was always under the belief that a church had to have the nave and chancel at a certain orientation. The only issue I have is that I have mislaid, when packing the old lay out up, Dai's coffin, unless his friends have taken it to the pub for his wake!

    Hi Steve. Nice update the village scene is really coming together and it has integrated well with the station. The lights look great and that soldering iron looks very nice, making me jealous 👀😂. Keep up the great progress. Nat 🚂

      Thank you Nat - I am pleased with the progress but need to add some more detail and some additional bits i.e bins, bikes, gravestones etc. All things to add to my growing list of "wants" lol.
      Regards

    Hi Steve - excellent bit of town planning 😊. What I like is the way everything has been thought through - giving a believable scene. Should give you some cracking views when the trains come through the station. Cheers Euan

      I am hoping so Euan - I should have taken some for that episode but I just forgot - I'll make sure I have some in for the next one.

    Hi Steve the town scene is starting to come together. l love what you said about the church, it work's for you the way you put it.
    The hairy controller here said he saw a couple of weeds in the flower bed outside the station, he said he was going to have a word with the station master.😂😂😂😂.
    Have a good week hope you're ok. Colin

    Hi Steve,
    The industrial and town areas have come on in leaps and bounds over the last few videos - what a transformation! I really like all the little details you're putting in. When you first talked about the church orientation I was thinking "but this is a model, you can choose with way is model North" - I'm pleased you concluded the same and gave the church grounds enough space - I think it looks much better the way you've done it than it would have ended up 🙂

    • @lynganddistrict
      @lynganddistrict  Před 5 měsíci

      THan ks Jonathon - yes I also like all the details - inspired by the likes of Elvenhome, Piccadilly, Karl and Debbie and many many others I wanted to make sure it was as interesting as possible.
      Regards

    Hi Steve! Great to see you with your Town Planner hat on! You've done some great work with the layout of the town area, and glad to see that you decided to orient the church the way you did! It seems a much more sensible use of the space! That soldering station looks like the bee's knees! It's great to have an iron with an adjustable temperature! Looking forward to Part 2 already! All the best, Ian.

      Cheers Ian - It was a case of "why am I going to all this trouble when no one but me knows which way is NOrth where I am" so yeah helps to keep it more in keeping and allows me to have more on the layout. Part two is already in the making, as most of the models I need are already built. Its the crawling under for the wiring that's doing my poor old back in!

    Hi Steve, nice work mate, the difference it made putting some colour in to the gardens and the graveyard was amazing. Lovely attention to detail Steve and the lights looked really good too.
    I think I’m on my 6th soldering iron now! Bloody things seem to pack on me quite easily, good makes and cheap ones, who knows why 🤷🏻‍♂, and i do try and look after them!
    Nice to hear the shout outs too, I try to do the same every time a see a new channel that takes my interest. I think I watch most of the one’s you mentioned apart from 3 Bridges which I’ll check out shortly.
    Looking forward to more Steve, cheers for now mate, John

      Cheers John - still adding some smaller details as and when I can afford it. Stephen from Elevenhome did the sane for me and I picked up loads of new subs so I just thought it would be nice to give some help back.

    Your town scene is looking good, and the churchyard really looks the part. I wish we had the room to make our small layout bigger, that said my grandson keeps finding things to film for his Dylington Model Railway channel. Anyway he's enjoyed watching your video and has subscribed......cheers James 🙂👍

      Cheers James - the shed is only 11ft by 6 so I thought it was cramped! I'd love to be able to dedicate a whole room but the wife won't have it and the loft is crammed. I've had a quick look at Dylington and am very impressed indeed. What a marvelous layout. Will be checking out the videos later today, but have subscribed to the channel.

      @lynganddistrict Hi Steve, thank you for subscribing it will put a smile on my grandson's face. I hope you enjoy watching his videos. He will be starting to build a 009 layout soon, and I'm sure he'll be filming and posting updates. Due to his age, we have turned off the comments for his protection, except on the Christmas video. So if you want to pass a comment, you can comment on the Christmas one, or on here. We are looking forward to following your progress.....cheers James 🙂👍

    Hi Steve, came over to you from your comments on my channel and have subbed. Looks like you are making steady progress and I do think that although time consuming, getting the detail right is certainly worth the time and effort. Chris

      @lynganddistrict  Před 5 měsíci

      Definitely Al - took me about three days to decide how to go about it and even then I changed my mind at the last minute! Made a mess of the first set of terraces as the lights now no longer work so I may have to break them up and make new ones or just leave them as is. Cheers for the comment.

    Hello Steve 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🐲👋 You definitely have a flair for putting urban scenes together 😍 The village has such an orderly flow to it 👌 I was getting worried about poor Dai 😥 until you mentioned him at the end 🙏 I do hope this is his final resting place 😱🤣🤣🤣🤣 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️

      Thank you for your kind words. I've actually mislaid Dai, although I think the boyos from the rugby club have taken him on tour ... he loved his rugby did Dai, fair play.
