The common denominator is the core : Matthews, Marner, Nylander!! They are the common denominator over the last 4 years.
This team loses when the games get tough and you got to compete for every inch of ice. Start of the game they get beat, end of game when another team makes a push and in playoffs. I feel as though that everyone is forgetting that the Habs are succeeding at this the way that everyone thought they might before the season started based on the moves of the last year and a half..... by taking it to seven and being built for a grinding 7 game playoff series.
That people are forgetting that opening season streak that had us top of the division... when Price wasn't even playing as well as he is right now. When we didn't have Caufield pushing defenders on their heels even if not putting in the net. Without Playoff Perry in the lineup.
As we saw the other night though.... It's a different game when the refs are actually calling penalties and the Habs defence has to play less clutch and wack and grab.

I'm from WNY, a Buffalo fan. Having said that you know Im either dedicated or mentally disturbed to continue to follow my teams.
I found in your podcasts and videos a kinship as I see your passion for the game and dedication to your leafs. Since I was a boy the Leafs were not rivals but a 2nd team favorite. One I cheered for when I watched Peter Puck teach me the game on Hockey Night in Canada from across Lake Ontario. The days of Darryl Sittler, Wil Paiement and Mike Palmateer. I Loved & hated when they played The Sabres because I knew it would be tough. I knew IF the Sabres won it was earned!
I wanted the Leafs to win for you Steve. Adam & Jesse too sure. I dont come here for the shock value and I dont tune in to watch you "Freak out" I tune in because you are real! Your passion your knowledge, insight etc I love the "Dang its" because its all the little things that the highlights everywhere else dont show you. And those are what makes the difference.
I have no way to ease your pain. That Game seven stung even the most casual leafs fan. But for you I could only imagine. I only can say that whether it was a "wide right" Norwood miss or a '99 Brett Hull skate in the crease Im right there with you. I just wanted to see the Bills win 1. The Giants game in '91 or The Sabres get one Cup in my lifetime for all of the nights spent listening to Rick Jennerette or Ted Darling on the radio under my pillow when I should have been asleep as a kid. For those guys I wanted it too.
But for you I wanted the Leafs to go all the way this year. I wanted to live vicariously through you when they hoisted the cup. I wanted for just one moment to see someone who deserves it get what they hoped for. THAT is the video I would have gladly tuned in to see. The look on your face would have been priceless. Im sorry for your loss. Toronto is a storied franchise. to got his long isnt fair for you or your fanbase. But as a Sabres fan I hope you know I say these things with sincerity. I know how you feel.
Thank you for all you give to the World Of Sports. Know that you have a "Brother" of sorts supporting you. Know that aside from actually playing in the NHL you are living my dream being able to share your love of the game as you do on SN & CZcams with the world. Thank you for being gentle but real with my Sabres these past years. You could have easily been critical. But you have Class. Thank you too Adam & Jesse. You all make me think make me laugh but always look forward to the next video or Podcast.
BTW Thank you for "Bumping" Melody Martin in a previous video. I would love to see you 2 work together/her guest on your Podcast

@@mattmasterson4648 there are so amny teams making the playoffs. And only one with three forwars making 33 million. So obviously going top heavy (not even top heavy cause they havnt proven themselves - more like potential-heavy) is absolultely not necessary to get into the playoffs and do well. Playoff hockey requires much more sacrifice and pure guts than skill alone (which can be enough in the regular season). Already making 11 million without having had to achieve anything in the playoffs does ZERO to motivate a player for playoff "all on the line effort"

@@mattmasterson4648 Marner has same points and less hits than Galchenyuk. So no, he has not been playing well,."Find other two-way players" --> look at any other playoffteam in the second round. Its not even about necessarily being two way. Its about givint an output which reflects your salary. Saying Mitsch has blocked some shots is laugable. For 11 million wou can get 3 excellent shot blocker Ds - and they dont throw pucks over the glass for fun. Leafs forwards are super talented no question but are arguably too soft/not gritty enough. And because other treams increase the overall intensity level and checking in the playoffs their offensive numbers dissapear. Always remember its like having a choice between having only marner or having Muzzin AND Reily (money wise). You sacrifice too much paying non-playoff superstarts that much.

I remember all the series since including 79 against the Habs, 93 against the Kings, 02 against the Canes and all the Boston meltdowns. I also remember beating the Islanders in 78, beating the Red Wings and the Blues in 93, the Black Hawks and Sharks in 94, the Sens four séries straight, and most especially a sweep in 01 while deployed to Bosnia with a Sens loving unit. I carried a broom around the camp the whole next day. It was great. Enjoy the ride tonight will offer. I expect it will be glorious. Anything is better than the 1980s.
