    When the main verb is BE, we do not need an auxiliary verb.
    What color is the tie?
    What is your name.
    What are these?
    Compare: main verb SEE
    What do you see?
    What does she see?
    Does that make sense?

    Hi teacher 😍💪🏻! Hope you’re doing fine ❤️! There’s this song ‘Halsey - Colors’. I listened the song and yeah I can say I like it. So, in English, sometimes the color blue can mean 'sad', right? But how could I differentiate well from the sense of color to a state or feeling in sentences?

    • @Englishwithjennifer
      @Englishwithjennifer  Před 6 lety +1

      Yes, "feeling blue" means feeling sad. You just have to pay attention to the context. A blue sky and a blue dress have nothing to do with sadness, right? :) Don't forget there's a genre of music called the blues!

      @Englishwithjennifer  Před 7 lety

      Hi. Good question. We use THOSE (these, this, that) to point to something near or far. If you're making a general statement and the listener knows what you're talking about, you can use a regular subject pronoun: THEY (it).
      Some models:
      Q: Did you go shopping?
      A: Yeah. I got new pants. They're blue.
      Q: I like your pants. But are they blue or black?
      A: They're blue.
      Q: Which pants do you think I should get? I can't choose between these two pairs.
      A: I like those blue pants. They look comfortable.

      The chance to study in either the U.S. or Canada would be a wonderful thing. Good luck to you! :)

    Mrs Jennifer. Does Pistachio green exist? I mean- is this expression usually used by Americans ? Also "hazel eyes" is this expression used? Or you simply say "light Brown" ?

      +Amina TAHRI Hi again. No, it's not a common expression, but I understand what you mean. For eye color, we use both "hazel" and "light brown."

    pls jennifer can we say

      @Englishwithjennifer  Před 5 lety

      Hi. Do not use "a" before only "green." Use "a" before a noun (a skirt) or a noun phrase (a green skirt).
      THAT skirt = the skirt is not close to you
      THIS skirt = the skirt is close to you
      Correct: That is a green skirt. This is a green skirt. That skirt is green. This skirt is green.

      Hello Lam. Have you watched my English Pronunciation playlist? My lesson on "th" is quite old, but you still may find it helpful to watch. czcams.com/play/PL81BCA0A2CB139CB7.html
      Also, you might like EnglishMeeting and PronunciationMeg. They also address pronunciation. Kind regards!
